What are the differences between the original AK PMAG and the GEN M3 version? Is it worth the heftier price tag? I have 2 of the originals, and I really like them.
metal locking lugs, but not feed lips, a kind of half assed bulgy waffle mag.
I'd trade the 28" barrel on mine for a 20" barrel if if was easy to import/export.
How is the thing anyway? Is it good? Does it fit/feel alright? Any failures to report. Also I can see that like literally every gun shop in Aus is sold out until the summer on them.
So I guess Hickok45 got taken down again?
The hype is real:
What calibre is it in? 5.56mm?
Oh hey! It's Copper Custom! Nice to see that they got new stock finally. STG44 in 556 looks interesting.
What calibre is it in? 5.56mm?
IIRC they're making them in 5.56/223 and 7.62x39. Somewhere in the $1,500 range.

Oh god if there's any magazines that can look like the original all SS reenactors are going to have a fucking heart attack
Oh, Geez, I saw the picture last night and just skimmed over it thinking 'Eh... Kalash...'. I didn't even see the Sturm in the picture... Goddamit, Mac.... Now my hype is real, too.
The reproduction STG is the same one that was shown on Forgotten Weapons/InRange right?
What chemicals have you tried? Brake Cleaner? B-12 Chemtool? Naptha? Acetone? Don't get any of these on your wood, but none of them will hurt the metal. I use all of them every day in cleaning for building custom engines at my Performance Shop.
Haven't tried any of them. Been using ballistol gun oil and picking out what I can but there's a harder buildup near the breach screw. I'll see what I've got at home.
Ordered another rifle today. Hopefully it will arrive before I deploy later this month.
So hey, I have a serious carbon buildup in the breach of my M1861 Springfield from my last reenactment, my usual method of cleaning didn't clear it all they way, and neither did going through the barrel, so I need to find a way to clean out the carbon without damaging the metal of the gun. Any suggestions?
Have you tried using a brass brush? Soaking the area and the brush in the cleaner of your choice, and gently scrubbing it will help. I take these stronger approaches granted that I am cleaning a revolver.

I take these stronger approaches granted that I am cleaning a revolver.
I considered it. Then I remembered I don't own a brass brush small enough for the breach. Got one for the barrel, tho. That thing works wonders if you need to do a dry run before a battle.
Is there a better entry level AR 15 to get other than the S&W M&P 15 Sport? I'm new to AR's and am curious which is the best entry level AR for around the 600-800$ price point.
It doesn't get much better bang for the buck than that.
It doesn't get much better bang for the buck than that.
That's what I was thinking thanks I wanted to get a second opinion. I'm going to go see about one Monday!
The ruger AR is around the same price range, the issue is finding one usually

[editline]10th January 2016[/editline] A WASR10/63 is actually the best entry level AR
Also, depending on what areas you're in, if there's any good local gun making retailers, they'd be worth a visit. I got mine at a local retailer just outside of Roanoke from a guy who started his own company because he wanted a Glock 18, which I kind sort of funny. But they make outstanding rifles for their price points for entry and mid-level shooters of the platform. My rifle I have about $1,300 in it total with about $950 of it being the gun.
Ok I have it narrowed down to 2 entry level ones, the S&W M&P 15 Sport and the Ruger AR 556 is the Ruger worth the little price bump over the M&P? I really like the dust cover on the Ruger even though I don't really need it I just like the look of it so I'd like to see what everyone thinks of these 2. Rate Informative for S&W Rate Useful for Ruger

It has all the basic features of an AR15, has the forward assist and has a rather heavy .223 Wylde barrel with a 1:8 twist. It looks promising for a range gun. Only needs a rear sight or optic and it's ready to rock. Paid $616 plus transfer fee. Eagle Arms is Armalite's budget brand that they killed off in 2002.
I saw a Calico Liberty III for sale at a local gun shop. And I have a thing for weird, impractical firearms, and am tempted to buy it.

The pistols have crap reliability compared to the rifles(spotty reliability too). If you want something unique or interesting, get a Beretta Neos 22 or something else.

If it's a range toy that's gonna get taken out of the case once every 3-6 months and used to kill paper, by all means, get the S&W. If you think you might end up getting dust/sand/dirt on it or might end up putting more than 100 rounds through it over the course of a range day, get the Ruger. I'd go with the Ruger, but that's my personal choice. Pick the one that's right for you.

Take me to your leader, puny earthling!
