That thing is so fucking wild. If they didn't have such bad reputations I'd have snapped up the one I was offered a while back.
That's pretty much exactly how the Sioux falls gun show is
is it pretty big? The one up here in Bismarck is pretty big. I'll be going to it on the 23rd

It used to fill up the 30,000 foot ramkota exhibit hall, but theyre having it at the city events center this year, so probably bigger now.
Took the Dan Wesson out to the range today. Had the 8" barrel on it. With .38s, it's like firing a loud airgun. There isn't any luck at all, just a big boom and a fireball. Even the .357 is super manageable. On the other hand, my grandpa's little 2" LCR destroys your hand every time you shoot it.
I swung by Gander Mountain today and they had a Sccy CPX-2 for $300 which isn't far off from where I've seen them sold elsewhere. Since I have like $100 in rewards points I should probably get it.
They had .22LR sitting on the shelf which is cool, usually they hide it.
Going to a gun show in PA on Sunday.
Everything I've heard says that if my dad bought the handgun specifically to sell it to me when I'm under 21, which he did, we'd both be committing a felony.
To sell, yes. To gift and receive a monetary tip; no. Because... laws...
So, we did firearm training today and yesterday, and we're going to shoot tomorrow. I myself already know how to operate a remington 870 (since it's my home shotgun), and I already know how to operate a S&W M&P .40 because I've used them and plenty of other striker fired pistols. That being said, I seemed to have pissed off my instructor because I had my own habits (such as pulling the slide to release it vs hitting the slide release).
Now, the kicker is, the boss of my office is in training with me. He's retired airforce, so apparently he was never trained with pistols. We were tasked with breaking down the pistol and re-assembling it for the time in class and at the time, the instructor was occupied teaching another employee in training how to disassemble the gun. While that was going on, my boss asked me why the slide was not coming off so I stepped over to show him how to break it down and how to reassemble it till he could do it on his own, and apparently, the instructor did not like that one bit.
After helping my own boss he told me we only need ONE instructor so people can be shown how to do it the RIGHT way (which I did, I mean come on, it's a M&P). The instructor was pretty passive-aggressive towards me the rest of the day, not acknowledging any of my questions and just flat-out ignoring that I was even in the class.
Lets just hope he doesn't try to fail me for random bullshit tomorrow during qualification.
I hate when instructors in classes of any sort with their head so far up their ass they can't tell if their tongue is touching a tooth or a turd that thinks anytime someone with knowledge trying to help is trying to take their job away from them.
How are Kimber 1911's nowadays? I was thinking of picking up another 9mm that can shoot lead, but I've heard a lot of bad things about Kimber quality.

Theres cheaper and better 9mm's out there than a kimber. Don't know what the handgun pricing situation is like on the other side of the earth, but I wouldn't buy a Kimber regardless.

You should try out a 77/357, mine feels and sounds like a slightly louder than normal spring-piston air rifle with .38s. Using .357 is like shooting a .223 bolt rifle that sounds like a .17HMR.

A guy I was laning next to let me use his $2400 Kimber for a little while and it is in no way worth that. I like my 4506 so much more.

honestly if you spend more than 5 or 600 bucks on a 1911, you're a complete retard.

Pretty much unless it's a historic one.

Like the 1917 one someone at a gun show near me had for sale.

Saw it on Reddit and was wondering if the post would be here too :) It was the mag dump video that made me realize it was you!
To sell, yes. To gift and receive a monetary tip; no. Because... laws...
That is so stupid. Either way, he bought it because I didn't have my license yet and I paid him back for it when my license came in and we transferred it, all of which is perfectly legal here for someone at age 18.
What's the best 1911 you can get for under 500-600$? Just a plain jane 1911 I've always love the look but that's about it so that why I just want a cheap but good one.

Though some here will probably disagree with me, the Rock Island 1911 is just a cheap functional 1911. The Taurus PT-1911 is also one of two Taurus handguns I'd ever consider purchasing. If you can stretch I'd grab the Ruger though.

Wow now that I have been looking around.. 1911's are overpriced as fuck for what they are I think I'm gonna spend my money elsewhere I don't like them that much to spend like 600$ on a meh one or 1000+ on a decent one. I'm probably gonna be dropping close to 800-1000$ when tax time comes and just looking for something I'd really enjoy and a 1911 really doesn't fit the bill. I've already got a couple 12ga and a Glock 17. Oh and an amazing 100$ gun that is fun as hell to shoot the phoenix arms Hp22, it has like 4 safeties and in almost every mag I have at least one failure somehow, but it just puts a smile on my face. Oh and I just put an Armalite M15 Carbine on layaway so i'm not broke for the next month. So I think I want something that's different the those 4 I'm thinking about a .357 6 inch revolver like the S&W 686 or the complete opposite of the spectrum a Marlin model 94. I have a problem that when I buy something I have to buy more so what are some of your guys opinions.

Remington R1, the basic model. Nice looking finish (though it's apparently susceptible to coming off from cleaning fluids) and wood grips, a real classic 1911 look to it.

a kimber is probably a bad idea but something like a les baer is totally reasonable. even pricier than a kimber but it's about as good as you can get out of anything designed before y2k

Avoid the Taurus like it's got sars. There was a FP'er here that had to send it back to warranty repair 2 times before he just got rid of it. RI is the best value for gun.

les baer's are nice but not for the money you pay for them. I don't understand how anyone can justify that sort of money for a 1911. Just buy a rock island and call it good.
My dad has a Taurus 1911. I've only shot it once or twice, but its a really good feeling gun. He hasn't had any problems with it.
I use a Kimber for my conceal carry, but I wouldn't spend over $800 on one. I think the anti-Kimber sentiment can be a bit overblown sometimes, it's really personal preference though.

Would a stock like this cause issues with accuracy on my 91/30 with the barrel being unsupported for most of its length?
I cherish my 91/30's beautiful tiger striped stock and want to install something I can beat up a little on the range without feeling bad, that doesn't require me to alter the steel and isn't made of plastic. This one has an adjustable cheek rest, too, and looks like the center of mass would be where I like it, so now I'm just trying to determine if it'd actually work with the 91/30's barrel length.
I'd be running without a scope/bipod.
That's my favorite thing about my 91/30 stock. Toss it in the back of the truck and go out to the range. Lean it up against a wall and watch it fall over. Clamp in in the vice. It doesn't matter. The only thing that could happen to that gun from being knocked around is my scope could need readjusted. It's like my truck. Battle scars look good on it.
It just feels weird tossing it around cause it's got service history and I don't wanna make it uglier, it's already got battle scars. I'm sentimental about antiques even if they're mass produced like the Mosin. Like I wouldn't dream of being rough with the K98 or Enfields, but for whatever reason I get the Mosin complex on the range and it ends up getting beat up.
The stock is $150, which is less than Mosins run for here these days. It's actual hardwood which is nice. I could easily get a shitty synthetic stock but I want it to be somewhat not-horrific. I don't really want to de-cosmo another Mosin only to fall in love with it too and refuse to treat it like a Mosin.
I forgot about the barrel bands, though. I don't know how to get the front sight off non-destructively.

Reminds me of when I first got my Mosin. Took it to the range still caked in cosmoline, down the barrel too. Shot like a champ.
