terrible customer support but other than that they're decent

I read over a few reviews that some people have got used guns when they were buying new ones.
Is it bad that I really really wanna use my student loan check to buy an SVT-40.
Also whatthefuck canada why are russian milsurp guns so CHEAP.
Seriously, an SVT-40 here is like 800 to 1200. In canada the same gun is 400. The FUCK.
I mean if I knew how to import one from canada I'd do it in a heartbeat but I don't so I guess I'm just SOL.
8-12 is a good deal if you're buying American lol. Bought mine for $700 back in the day, had a dood on a facebook page offer me $2,500 at one point, but that was way high.
And for the record, it's illegal to "import" a gun from Canada by hiding it in your chassis and driving through the woods into North Dakota, but it's not illegal to hold onto that gun afterwards. The beautiful thing about the US not having a registration is theres no way to tell where a gun came from or how many people have owned it since it wandered into the US. You could buy guns cheap in Canada and sneak them over and sell them for a huge profit, or just own some awesome guns without selling a kidney.
Obviously don't do this because it's super illegal and you'll get caught. But if a dood in a Tom Clancy book could smuggle a nuclear bomb over the border from Canada, you can probably do it too.

Buds is solid. Fast shipping and processing and decent prices. You just gotta remember that its a storefront somewhere in the mountains down south, so it's run by barely literate hicks who have the site just barely navigatable and operable, so expect issues sometimes.
When my tax return comes in, I think I'm going to buy a CMP Garand.
Been thinking of doing the same thing actually
I'm thinking of putting mine on a CZ75 SP01. At least to partially pay for it.
Dude do it. I literally just sent in my papers and identification for a service grade. We can be Garand buddies!
That's what I'm planning on. $750 for a Garand, dayum. I sold my .308 Garand for $1000 a couple years ago and really miss it.

I'm so tempted, I could pick up one of the Garands and a nice bucket of ammo with my refund. But I think I'm going to put it towards my 2 week trip to Europe instead.
Garands are beautiful old weapons, I'd love to have one.
I want an AR-15 first though. I'm more used to them, and I actually have a need for one.

Quit being such a fickle bitch with your guns. You were insanely lucky to find a .308 Garand, so why did you throw it away for chump change?
well you dont have to be an asshole about it

How was that being fickle or being a bitch? He didn't do bad selling it for that a few years ago given that the CMP is selling them for $1030 right now, and people are more inclined to buy from them than a private party due to CMP's great quality control. They were even cheaper a few years ago so he didn't do bad. They also aren't really rare and are common conversion for match shooters.
I've honestly never understood that. I see it in so many gun nut friends. "Oh man I just got this gun man its so cool aww I love it"
and then a month later
"yeah I sold it. Wish I hadn't"
Its like, fucking why. You do this every time.
He may have needed the money at the time.
He may have needed the money at the time.
Except they turn around and use the money to buy some other gun. and then sell that gun in a month. and buy another.
I have another friend who does the same thing with cameras. Rarely keeps a camera past a month. Blows $3000 on one, uses it for a while, goes "meh", sells for $2000, and buys another.
"Yeah man I love cameras"
Okay yeah I don't see the point in that all...

For me, I was needing cash, and had been slowly migrating towards Soviet guns at the time. I kick myself for selling both the Garand and the M1 Carbine, but less so the latter because, while it's a fantastic gun, getting ammo was more trouble than I'd like.
I've heard using modern 30-06 in a Garand can damage the gas system. Anyone know if this is true or not?
Yes, it damages the op rod. That's why they make "Garand ammo." I think 150gr UMC is fine too.
it's why you just buy a self regulating gas plug..
This. Costs like 10-15 bucks if I remember correctly.
Yep, and it will make it safer to use modern 30-06.

Not everyone has CMP memberships, and if you spend 10 minutes at a gunshow, you can see how overpriced garands are in comparison to the CMP. You could take a 308 Garand to a gunshownamd get 12-15 for it.
Theyre common rifles but not commonly sold because theyre fucking fantastic guns. Great and nostalgic rifle design but without the overpowered 30-06 round. Why sell something like that?
What is the legal age to buy rifle ammo online? I went to buy .223 ammo off of CTD and it said..

Thought it was 18

It's more of the online shops trying to cover their asses. If you walked into a local shop, you can do it without much trouble. Well, shouldn't be too much trouble.
What would people recommend for a somewhat cheap entry-level O/U shotgun?
Nevermind, turns out I can't buy it. Legally you have to be 21 to buy rifle or handgun ammo online. 18 for shotgun ammo.
and in norway you can be 16 and have a gun with ten spare magazines, 10000 rounds of ammo, and a suppressor delivered at your door

so these days i'm kinda frustrated when it comes to shooting
my only buddy who lives close and has an interest in guns/owns guns (my other pal with guns is working in another end of the country) has seemingly decided to not do anything else than watching films and complain about having nothing else to do
even my gf is more eager about going shooting than him..
Your GF is your new shooting buddy.
I wish I had a reliable shooting friend. I try to take my wife to the range all the time but it's become a sore subject for us as of late.

I agree that perhaps he shouldn't have sold something that cool but honestly it takes fifteen minutes to buy a $25 membership to the GCA and then fill out the order form for the CMP. After all said and done you are still getting a fantastic quality Garand for <$800. There is literally no other reason why you would want to buy from a private seller unless they were selling it at loss.
