Sig P225
Why? It's as big and bulky as a P226 but without the capcity. Just get the purpose built slim sig instead.
You could always conceal carry an Obrez.
Or if you want to be ultra sacrilegious, an SVT-Obrez.
It's not a sub compact. It's a compact. Used to sell a lot of them when I worked at Gander Mountain. Pretty popular.
12 rounds in the extended magazine, 10 in the flush mag. Gun comes with 1 extended and 2 flush.
The full size version, the SR9, holds 15.
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
Do you have a range/store in the area that lets you rent guns?
I'd suggest doing that before buying anything if you can.
That being said, if you're already looking at the SR9C as an option and don't want to spend the extra money on the Sig, go for it. I've shot them. They're very comfortable.
Unfortunately not anymore, used to live near a great one. Shot an SR9C plenty of times though, my old range buddy/coworker had one.
Did you like it?
Yeah, first time not too much but the more I shot it the more I liked it. Probably ended up with it about a dozen times.
Go for it then man.
That looks perfect actually. Thanks! Now time to factor it into my budget list.
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
Bit pricey but it'll go on the list nonetheless. Might just have to bump one of the servers further down.
XDs 4.0 is another option. It's cheaper and with it's extended mag, it feels just right.
Does the XDS still have those discharge issues?
That was fixed a while ago. Trigger now feels exactly like a Glock for what it's worth. If you look at the grip safety closely, it will have a roll pin in it peeking out near the top of the safety. That's the sign that it's fixed.
I have over 300 through mine, feels like a polymer 1911 in my opinion. I lucked out since Springfield was running a rebate that if it was bought in the summer of '15, you would send in the reciept for 3 extra mags for free, not even paying S&H. Got an extra 7, 8, and 9 round mag from it. Gun ships with a flush fit 7 round mag and an extended 8 round mag with grip spacer.

Looking at the original 225, or the new 225-A1? The original 225 is ollld. Mine was from March 1976 :)
Next to my first 228

Both. I mean I'd rather the original. I'm not a big fan of all the molded grips and angly shit with new guns. That's why I like my 4506 so much.

I'd rather have the old than the new. Milled slide makes it heavier and dat price tag.
Does the XDS still have those discharge issues?
Nope but it still has a retarded grip safety.
Sling shit at me all you want but grip safeties are 100% useless.

Better than a manual safety.
Better than a manual safety.
Why a trigger safety and a grip safety? Why have a safety at all?
Sig Sauer safeties are by far the best.

Fuck I dont wanna get into this again.
I CC my P64, and its just fine. One in the chamber, hammer down, safety on. Its a little heavy, and unless you replace the hammer spring (around 10 bucks), the double action pull is awful. Not as good or light or intricate as a special snowflake modern carry gun, but plenty good enough on a budget.
Now if you dont plan on CCing it great, ignore what I said, except for the hammer spring part. Its a good looking simple and reliable gun to have, but unless you get some wider grips for it, its a little painful on the web of your hand to be a range toy, at least if you have small nerd hands like me. After 2 mags my hand is numb enough. Also, 9x18 is more annoying to try to find locally than 9x19.
I really like mine.
I picked up this totally worthless gun today

I'd never even heard of the Type 2 Paratrooper Rifle until you posted that. Thankfully I knew exactly what to google to find out.

I've never seen these for sale, the only time I have seen them they were behind glass in a museum
So I got a box of spent 30-06 ammo, and assorted live 7.62 NATO rounds, among a few others. I separated it out, put most of the 30-06 brass in a tin, the rest with a few other various spent casings in a 20 gauge box, the bad ammo (it had been fired some years back,(at least 10) but were duds), were put in a action cam box and taped up (I'm gonna make use out of them), and had some other various crap put in another tin. I inspected it, the junk got disposed of, and I'm keeping the rest. Also yes, that's a 40mm shell from a Mk.19. The guy before he died worked with the military, had all sorts of cool stuff.

Can you guys recommend me a good 4 pound trigger for my AR? I don't know what to buy. I'm not looking for anything spectacular/crazy expensive, it's for a $580 AR.

POF 4.0 Single Stage, run for around $150 as a drop In.
On the cheap end you can get a lighter hammer and trigger spring usually for around 12 bucks from Wolff.
Middle Ground Hyper Fire makes a decent mil-spec plus running at around 4-4.5 for around $95
Aww I love takedown rifles. Nice find dude.

!!help!!
GF decided to clean her nugget while I was at work, she polished the stock, cleaned all the cosmoline off of everything visible, and cleaned the receiver.
But the Hoppe's I had on hand seems to have nearly stripped the finish off the nugget's receiver. I thought these things were blued, the fuck happened??
She's super pissed at herself and honestly I'm not sure what happened. Everything we both read said that Hoppe's should not have affected the finished period.
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
Okay nugget's are finished in Shellac... interesting. But point stands, Hoppe's shouldn't have hurt it, but that finish is fucking ruined and she's depressed she ruined her birthday present.
so refinish it
Oh I plan to, I just don't know yet how much that will cost/how long that will take.
I also want to know why the hell it came off to begin with.
I think wartime mosins were left in the white and painted rather than blued. Mine has several spots in the paint where it just looks like bare metal beneath.
The Hoppes solvent just took the paint off. It isn't gonna hurt the rifle. It probably looks pretty cool, too, if it took all the paint off cleanly.
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
I'm reading also that the paint was added after the war when it was refurbed in the armory. So bare metal might really be the "correct" look on her rifle.

Wartime mosins aren't blued at all or have shitty bluing to begin with. Basic gun cleaners will strip the shit right off. Just order a bluing compound online or find one at a hardware store/gunsmith and just reblue it yourself. It's not tough at all.
Or overpay for a gunsmith to do it.
So the current pistol inspector and board member of my local sports shooting union asked me if I wanted to become the official rifle inspector (and board member) of the union.
It all sounds so official, but I guess this is what the shooting sport is like in Socialist Scandinavia.
The only thing is that I don't know much about rifle shooting, other than what I learned in the army, but she and others are wiling to teach me.
We can only use bolt action rifles for sports shooting however, so I will have to learn a lot about those, as I will be partly responsible for cleaning them, and converting them from .22lr to 6.5x55 when the outdoor season begins.
This way I'll also be able to store my firearms free of charge in our rather large vault, instead of having to purchase a safe of my own, and install it in my tiny third floor apartment.
Also I found out that the next IPSC qualification course is in less than a month, so I probably won't be able to make it, as I haven't even received my firearms permit yet.
In my part of the country, they only host two such courses a year, so if I want to get my IPSC license before September, I'll have to go to the other part of the country.
