I really can't say because I would never move to a state with gun control in place to begin with. Or a state that hasn't historically been a red state, for that matter. Blue states and draconian gun control tend to go hand in hand.
All states have "gun control" dude. It's called the thousands of gun laws already in place. "Gun control" is something to make soccer moms feel safe.

The gun restrictions are the stupid things. I just hope Hogan actually does something. You never hear from him... Guess he's too busy fixing Owemalley's excessive taxes.
Is it bad that I'm not really a big fan of shooting 1911's? I mean I like shooting my 45 in every way more than a 1911 shoots.
Your 45 what? [editline]25th February 2016[/editline]
Hi powers are good but buy a CZ-75 instead.
Why not buy both? Buy the Hi Power for the history and the CZ for the shootability. Nighthawk Custom is making damn-near $3000 Hi Powers, so I wouldn't say it's out of fashion: http://www.nighthawkcustom.com/pistols/browning-hi-power [thumb]http://www.nighthawkcustom.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1800x/9a05e486223f6fa0bb1e064fe361d753/b/r/brownings-1920.jpg[/thumb]
Nighthawk (14K) Gold Bead Front Sight
Just what I was looking for
Your 45 what?
S&W 4506. I shot it side by side with a $2400 Kimber, Ruger 1911, and a Taurus PT1911 and I liked it far more than any of those. Certainly more than here in Mississippi though.
ooo, classic firearms got some FEG hi-power clones. Seems this batch is a bit more cosmetically worn than what they usually get, but i might grab one. 280 for a functionally identical hipower clone is still pretty good even with the wear. [editline]25th February 2016[/editline] What do you guys think of hi-powers?
I like my BHP, it's a Nazi made '41 with a square landyard loop. And yes, it's has the optimistic 500 yard sights :v
NC (where I'm most likely moving) definitely has more than any other state around it, but it's not that god awful. Certainly more than here in Mississippi though.
That's because North Carolina is a swing state, and not staunchly Republican like Mississippii
I like my BHP, it's a Nazi made '41 with a square landyard loop. And yes, it's has the optimistic 500 yard sights :v
Not as optimistic as my Pre-war Commercial C-96 that goes out to 1000 :P
Anyone have any experience with a Mossberg 835? Thinking about getting one, how does it stack up against a 500 or rem 870?
Not as optimistic as my Pre-war Commercial C-96 that goes out to 1000 :P
Shooting mine with the stock makes me think those sights may not be as optimistic as assumed. Fucking thing is a tack driver.
Mossberg's forends on the the shogun feel loose. The 835 is no different from the 500 other than the ability to use punishing 3.5" shells. The 500 is harder to convert to higher/lower capacity. What ever you bought the shotgun with, it's staying that way. The shotgun is can be maintained by the user more than the 870 since the ejector can be replaced by the user. The 870 is heavier, but has better aftermarket support. Mag extensions are easier to get and use. You may have issues with the loading gate/elevator and the need to send it back to remington or a smith to fix broken ejectors. I like the Remington more. Buy used ones of either shotgun brand. They aren't really worth the full price for new.
Ruger LCR or 1911?
Ruger LCR or 1911?
For what? If it's just a range toy but whatever, but if it's for self defense or CC use, buy an LCR. Avoid 1911's like the plague if you're going to use them for self defense.
Ruger LCR or 1911?
LCR in 327 Fed. Mag. just to be different.

I'm trying to find a shooter barrel but that is proving to be increasingly difficult.
I'd totally see how far i could go with those sights if the bore on mine wasn't gone. I'm trying to find a shooter barrel but that is proving to be increasingly difficult.
Are you wanting to replace the whole upper? Rebarreling them is a lot of trouble.
Are you wanting to replace the whole upper? Rebarreling them is a lot of trouble.
Yeah, I don't ever intend on re-barrel/reline the original. It's an all numbers matching and worth more as it sits. I just want a 7.63 upper, but I'd settle for a 9mm. I'm thinking about just having my brother CNC one and have my shop gunsmith rifle the barrel. Shit will be expensive but it'll be less than trying to find a place to make one from scratch.
I seriously hope that the administration people that are processing my request pulls their heads out of their asses. It's now been over a month since I sent the paperwork in, and the chairman of the shooters union I'm a member of (who has to sign the paperwork) goes on vacation next week!

I think with a few modernizations the platform would be competitive today, just expensive. Easier barrel replacement would be one of those modernizations :v: If you go that route, can you see if he can mill bolt stops, as well? I'd like to replace my numbered one for shooting so I don't break it, but the cheapest I can find them online is $90.
Or mail order brides from Russia. Wonder if they come with AK and wodka, comrade?
Move to Georgia, Southern women are better, and the prices in small town South Georgia are so low, you'll never wanna move. Plus the cops may drink with you on duty... (That was a fun night).

The guns are nice and all but the people are literally worse than Hitler. I literally moved all the way to North Dakota to get away from all that shit.
SD>ND
WY>SD
WY isnt a state, its a big rectangle of wasteland that none of the other states wanted.
honestly most of the midwest is just poverty, farms, and cows.
honestly most of the midwest is just poverty, farms, and cows.
Yup. I'm in IT. Not many six figure IT jobs in Kansas and shit.
