Why would it be "the day hell freezes over"? H&K already released the European version and from the very start of the project made it clear they were making one for the American market, hence why there's two variations. The HK243 and the HK293. One for Europe, one for America. Last I heard they were planning to or had already bought a factory in America to assemble them in country with American made parts so 922r compliance isn't an issue and they wouldn't have to contend with German export laws as well as American import laws. Not sure where they are in that process but I have faith, considering the European one is already released.
They've been back and forth on that 243 and 293 numerous times, they aren't doing it, and they aren't building a factory in the US because they were damn near destroyed by the German government. H&K was burned by a big venture into the US market once before, they're not about to make that mistake again with a volatile political climate.
Why? Don't get me wrong I love Ruger products but why ever buy a prebuilt AR-15? You can build it yourself cheaper and make it exactly how you want instead of buying something prebuilt and then invariably changing one or more aspects of it to suit your preferences.
I don't have the time, inclination or manufacturer knowledge necessary to do so. I wanted a reasonably priced AR15, I wanted it within the next two weeks, and I wanted the internals to be close to milspec. The only change I'm going to be making is putting a milspec sight on it. I might eventually add an optic, but that's way down the line.
My thing is that by the time it reaches the market, it will be so horribly over priced that it will fail to gain market traction. Just like the SL8 series was and the MR556 is. It needs to hit below $1500 if they want a hope and a prayer beyond the HK fanatics buying them. US market gets shat on by HK as far as their their rifle sales go.
Except like I said it's already hit the European market, and IIRC it's selling there for about the equivalent of $1300 USD. It's out and being sold. I've seen European gun owners with them, seen them on store pages, etc. I can't imagine why they WOULDN'T continue to try to export them to America, there's a huge demand for 'real' G36's here. I'd sure as fuck pay up to $1500 for one.
Well boys I was gonna buy my AK stuff but then I found out some good bands were coming through Dallas. The good news is I'm going to see Journey, Doobie Brothers, Dave Mason (of Fleetwood Mac), Bad Company, and Joe Walsh (my favorite guitarist)... the bad news is I have no AK money. :v:
Hey, When did they remove this bit? On the Chippa Rhino 60ds. [T]http://i.imgur.com/A0LHUA3.jpg[/T] It just looks strange without it.

It's the combination of the US gun importation laws and Germany's exportation laws that royally fuck HK over when they try to sell something in the US. The Assault Weapons ban did nothing to further HK's interest in the US market for rifles too even though it has sunset. And now with the election season in full swing, and Hillary looking like she's gonna win, they don't want to get burned for the 3rd time. The current laws force HK to radically redesign the rifle when it would otherwise be a hole filled in here and a sear left out there. That means NEW master molds must be made, which means another few million dollars in molds, more money to make the new civilian spec parts, and a huge price jump on the finished product in order to turn a profit. This is also under the condition that the ATF even approve their sample rifles to be imported and sold. If the gun cannot pass the ATF, they are good as dead, even if the rest of the world gets the rifle. It is not economically feasible for them to do this shit in the US. Their pistols on the other hand are not held to the same standard, so that's why they can grab a decent hold of the premium tactical pistol market. Their rifles, since the early 90's, have had an awful track record for sales due to the laws.
"hillary looking like she's gonna win" What TV are you watching and what drugs are you taking because they sound hilarious There's no chance that vapid old twit is going to win the election. Also what the hell is the requirement that the US has that H&K somehow can't fulfill? Surely our requirements aren't MORE restrictive than Europe's? Fucks sake you can buy semiautomatic versions of any assault rifle ever built if you can find them. What's wrong with H&K's civvie g36 as it is?
HK would have to make part of it in the US to comply with 922r. On top of that, it's against one of your stupid import laws to import semi-automatic firearms with magazine capacities greater than 10, so that means they'd have to make the entire receiver in the US. No other country has the stupid "buy/make local" protectionism laws you do when it comes to firearms.
922r etc needs to fuck off. Frankly I should be able to import any firearm I want from anywhere in the world with the usual transfer paperwork. If you're really paranoid about 922r for a home built gun, scratch serial numbers into 922r parts and call them remanufactured.
What's the cheapest Kalashnikov you've ever bought?

[editline]11th March 2016[/editline]
What's the cheapest Kalashnikov you've ever bought?
AK pistol for right around $400 is the cheapest I've seen but if we went back to the golden days of AK imports, they'd all be about $300.
What's the cheapest Kalashnikov you've ever bought?
My first AK was a WASR 10/63 I bought from a pawn shop for $425 back before Sandy Hook happened. Sold it for $1400 w/ a crate of 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 a year later. I don't feel bad at all about doing that.
I've just recently learned that the Georgia Senate just passed a campus carry bill with final approval from the governor looking very likely. Right now, facebook is lighting up with massive amounts of complaining and fear. :v:
What's the cheapest Kalashnikov you've ever bought?
bought one for $50 and turned right around and sold it for $300 about 8 years ago

Anyone here a long time owner of a G20 that shoots full power loads? My Glock 20 just reached the 500 round mark and all it's had through it, is full power underwood 180 Speer FMJ's. I've heard so much about how the stock recoil spring isn't enough to keep the frame from being battered, but of course.. Like I had mentioned last time, I picked up a 22 pound Gen 3 spring, put a Gen4 to gen3 recoil spring adapter in there and thats where all of my issues started. The gun would hiccup, FTF's out the damn roof and the bullets magically found a way to get caught. If the factory spring worked, and the new one doesn't, go back to the factory spring.
I had a Century AK-74 I bought for $600, also before Sandy Hook. I sold it a couple months after for $1800 with a Kobra and a few hundred rounds of ammo.

But it's okay because its a fucking beautiful gun. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Guns/IMAG0499.jpg[/t] But a BL-22 would be awesome for plinking, but when I go plinking I normally prefer plastic stocks instead od wood ones because were I shoot we all setup on concrete and.... I tend no to be as careful as I should be...
What I posted isn't a Browning :v:

So I Just picked up a Finnish M91 and need some guidance on it. It's a numbers matching (as far as the VKTs are I believe, it has no number on the magazine floor plate or buttplate, which is common) 1941 VKT "D stamp" variant with bayonet that I bought it from a friend of mine who used to own a gun store (20 or so years ago) in a package deal. It had 7.65 written in black marker across 2 of those stick on target dots on the buttplate. It was in a stack of rifles that included a bunch of Mausers of various orgins. I'm not sure if that sticker was on there by mistake, or if some bubba-fuddery has occured in the last 75 years. I'm thinking the latter is less likely due to the original state of the rifle and how well kept it was despite the action it's seen... That and the lack of evidence of machining work on the chamber and barrel. I will post pics once my camera battery finishes charging.
I doubt it's been rechambered for 7.65 of all cartridges, that's for Argentine Mausers. Probably just a mixup.

If so, try to insert the tip of the bullet into the muzzle of the rifle. If it doesn't fit, it hasn't been rechambered. If it slides in, it has.
