My uncle had made this into a legal length sawed off, including cutting the stock into a pistol grip. I merely picked up a tactical stock and fore end, just recently put the original back on.

How damn, an 8mm Kurz chambering, a .223 chambering, and a 7.62x39 chambering? I'd love one in .223, just because 8mm Kurz is impossible to find, but by the time this reaches Canada, if ever, it'll probably be illegal.

A whole bunch of those popped up here for $250-$300 earlier this year. That one's a tanker model, they cut the hammer so that it wouldn't get snagged on exposed metal on tanks and go off in the holster, or get caught getting out and pull the guy's pants down. They had both variants make it in around here, I just didn't particularly want one, since .38S&W is a bit hard to find and expensive.
I actually have a ton of antique .38 S&W ammo that would last me for a while. I was at an estate sale and they just gave it to me, dunno if the primers are any good though. It looks a bit beat but I want to convince myself that it's OK mechanically and that's just holster/handling wear.
Still I can't actually purchase it. oh well.

I didnt see that promo code and didnt put it on my order, so I stuck with 16$ shipping.
Still a sweet deal and better than 20$ and a trip to an ffl.
So Cabela's didn't think to let me know they'd require an 'adult signature' for delivery - 21 or older. I'm 20. That doesn't even make sense. There's no age restrictions on black powder guns.
Anyway the gun is delivered tomorrow and I don't know what to do. Can the UPS guy sign for it? :v:

Depending on how Calbelas shipped it, go to your tracking number on the UPS page and pre-authorize it to be dropped without a signature, or print out a authorization form and fill it out and leave it under your doormat for the UPS guy.
The 'adult signature required' flag on their end is preventing me from pre-authorizing it. I have to sign for it and they do check ID.
I checked that too, and set it to be held at the distribution center so I can pick it up after work rather than have them while Im at work and have to wait another day to do the same thing. Ive done that a couple times before and they do check your ID, but I think its just to make sure youre the right guy. It also seemed like the guy there was just your average blue collar warehouse worker who I dont think would put up a big fuss about you technically not being an adult, but that depends on where you are and whos working.
I think if you had them hold it and picked it up later, youd have at least a 75% chance of being able to pick it up if you explain to them it wasnt an age restricted purchase and is totally bogus.
I still find it dumb as fuck that you need to be 21 in the US to buy a pistol.
I was once planning to visit a buddy in Kentucky when I was 20, so I called the local range to see if I'd be able to bring my Sig if I got all the right import papers for it. They said, "Nope, y'all gotta be 21 to shoot handguns here." I was thinking to myself I bought this gun from a gun shop earlier that year, had owned a handgun for 2 years, but I was apparently "to young" for the US. Fucking stupid. I bought my first handgun when I was 18 from my dad who bought it from the shop since my license was in the mail at the time. That'd have been a felony offense for both of us in the US.
Well guys, after hardly shooting my 7600 this year any and just discovering what the issue with its accuracy was last year, I got myself a nice 8-pt this year on the first day. Two 160gr .30-06 shots dropped him down before noon yesterday. Looks like we're going to have a neck roast for my Dad's Christmas Party this year after all.

That sounds like a range rule, not law. US law is only that you have to be 21 to buy a handgun from a dealer. You can buy from an individual, or possess one younger than that. I think 18 to buy from an individual, but possess younger.
plus, antique muzzleloaders arent technically firearms, at least in the scope that you can ship them to your door, barrel length doesnt matter, and that wierd texas open carry thing, so you dont have to be 21 to buy muzzleloading handguns. Shit, why didnt I buy this years ago? the more youtube videos I watch, the more excited I get.

My range lets me shoot my pistols there but I have to buy all my pistol ammo while I'm there for my .45/.357/.30 mauser AR-15 upper with a really big wink.

I'm just gonna take off work and get my mommy to be here and sign for it or ask one of my neighbors since most of my friends are my age or younger and the only older ones are working, it won't let me change the delivery address or stop it at a distribution center now so fuck it.

It's more about the insurance company wanting it more than anything. Ranges seem to get pretty bad requirements for insurance to even consider putting a range on their books. Though, the ranges around me don't care about it, unless you want to rent or even handle a handgun from their shelves.

There's a range here that specifically advertises their pistol rentals towards under-21s.
I can safely say I've had a horrible experience as a new AR-15 owner so far.
So I got the SIG M400 Enhanced edition, and it comes with all Magpul furniture, as well as the flip sights. The only rail on the front of the gun is on the gas block. So the plastic flip sight is not a good option to put on the gas block rail.
I decided I wanted a quad rail anyway, so I pick one up. Long story short, the rail wont snap together. It's just a hair too thick or something, and it wont snap into place on the barrel nut. So I return it, get another, same thing. So I take it to a gunsmith, and he says that he shaved some of the metal off the quad rail and made it fit. I have the suspicion that he didn't do anything to it other than try and squeeze it together, which I already tried. So I bumped the delta ring with my fist, and sure enough, PANG. The bottom half of the two piece quad rail comes off.
So I take it back to him and now he's saying he thinks the rail just isn't going to work, and how he has one of those screw on quad rails that uses the screw-in barrel nut, and goes over the gas block. But he's going to have to replace my brand new gas block with a low profile gas block. And god forbid I don't like the new rail, because then it's going to have to go BACK to the gunsmith to put the old barrel nut back on and install the original Magpul rail.
Never even shot the goddamned thing. I just want to get this over with.

Anyone have experience with those Keymod free float rails? Expensive, but at this point I'm willing to do it just to make sure some shit is done right.
He told me that the only downside to one of those rail systems is that, since it's only held onto the rifle in one place, if it were to be slammed against concrete or dropped out of a truck or some shit, it could knock the rail off alignment and seriously damage it. So if that's true, I don't plan on dropping my rifle ever, but the reduced durability concerns me.
Most rails anymore are a single mounting point because free float barrels. Realistically, your gun will be fine if you drop it from time to time. It might not like being dropped from a high place though (2nd story, ect.). Just about everyone who customizes an AR15 goes free float. The barrel nuts used to hold the rail on are also very large or built up. Only rail I would be remotely worried about dropping are the Troy rails since it is held on with 4 tabs on a standard nut.
Just out of curiosity, why did you pick the Sig when there are other great options?
I'm a clumsy retard so I drop my guns more frequently than I would like to. My AR-15 is free-floated and the handguard has been fine, though my 1911's front sight blade has a nice cant to it now. Fortunately it's canted in the direction the pistol was already biased toward, so we'll call it accidental gunsmithing.

That's good to know. I'd just be worried about spending 200-300 on a rail system just to have it fall out of my car or something and break it.
Also, it was at a great price ($800 USD on sale, regularly like 1100 or something), and SIG is a name I trust.
Opinions on the S&W M&P .40?
Might have to be using that for a job here soon.

No different than most other 40s. Only thing is, how much can you tolerate the S&W 2 piece trigger?
I don't care for the trigger, so that's the biggest thing holding it back in my opinion.
From what I remember, I hated the trigger, was just... spongy
but I'm not going to have a choice :/

It is quite spongy but there are worse triggers out there, and besides. The gun is a reliable ( in my experience ) piece of machinery.
