Man I still hate my KSG. It's like having a really hot girl friend with a shitty personality. It looks great but otherwise I'm always miserable around it. I replaced the CTG Inner Catch so now it doesn't release multiple shells at a single pump anymore. But my hang-up issue is still ever present and I have no idea how to fix it. Literally no remote idea on what would work now.
I'll trade you my Mossberg 930 for it. :downs:
Alright, should have a job offer tomorrow and I finally made up my mind on what to get. Wanna build an M16A1 like AR. Anyone mind helping me shop around a bit for the parts? Or any recommendations?

Any suggestions for a budget barrel? Still trying to figure out exactly what else I need. I see some items in the kit are no longer included.
Any suggestions for a budget barrel? Still trying to figure out exactly what else I need. If not you need to make sure whatever gas block you decide to get is the correct height (Not "F" marked). From there you need to decide whether or not you want to use the original 1-12 twist rate or bring it to a 1-9 or 1-7. In Terms of keeping it authentic Green Mountain makes a 20" Pencil barrel for about $170 http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/gm-m15-m16-a1-5-56mm-20-1-12-twist-20-barrel/ It does have M4 feed ramps but that shouldn't affect feeding too much on the old uppers. You could always file the cuts in the upper if you wanted to but it's not necessary. M4 cuts only become an issue if you have a cut upper but not a cut barrel.
To be honest I'm not too familiar with AR15's. I just don't like the look besides the M16A1.
To be honest I'm not too familiar with AR15's. I just don't like the look besides the M16A1.
Feel free to PM me with any questions, I build them all the time.
I will once I start ordering for sure. Might just wait until the big parts kit is ready so I know I have it then order from there.
a friend of mine is looking for a full size handgun around $600. I suggested a gen 4 g17, a 92FS, or an FNX-9. any other suggestions?
Depends on what he wants it for. Carry? Range toy? For carry the FNX-9 is a good choice. CZ family guns are good, too, if he prefers all steel. For a range toy I would recommend a stainless 1911, mine is a ton of fun even with the platform's problems and I enjoy shooting it more than my "duty" guns. It might be worth looking into a Walther P99. I enjoyed the one I shot and it struck me as a good defensive option but I don't know much about the general performance of P99s as a whole. Pricewise they seem to run low.
To be honest I'm not too familiar with AR15's. I just don't like the look besides the M16A1.
I'll be honest, I kinda feel the same way. A lot of the AR15s out there look fuckin' retarded, give me something either milspec or close to it. I'm personally going for something close to the M4 I carried in BCT, minus the RIS. I've got a USGI backup sight mounted, and I've been pricing out M68s. Those things are expensive though, the newer CompM4 costs more than the damn rifle.
daily carry in a backpack (so the weight and bulk of a duty size pistol isn't a big deal) and nightstand gun with maybe some occasional cokeman style shooting dirt fuckery. he's got himself a new family, never felt the need to protect himself and loved ones before having a wife and a son
Have him look into a P99, then. Little research I've done suggests they're solid guns. I want a Witness Hunter one day. Don't know how they'd be as a defense gun, but for backpack carry the size wouldn't be an issue. I've heard of them going for $5-600 at some stores, but they're usually priced closer to 1 grand around here.
I'm really trying to convince him of the FNX because I fangirl over belgian plastic
My dad's CZ P07 is a fantastic gun to shoot too.
hi-point and 400$ worth of ammo and clipazines
oh forget that I'm telling him JA25 and $550 worth of ammo and clipazines
hi-point and 400$ worth of ammo and clipazines
give him a highpoint, but write "GLOCK" on the side in white permanent marker
I'm really trying to convince him of the FNX because I fangirl over belgian plastic
I have an FNX 45 tac, it is a stellar gun. You generally need to be a fairly large person to carry one regularly though and I generally don't buy in to the inside waistband holster stuff. Nobody freaks out if my hip holster pokes out from under my over shirt. If he really wants to conceal it, I'd say look elsewhere. It will, however, out perform just about anything you put it up against.
on a more serious note though- why g17 over g19? g19 is just the bit smaller enough that he can carry it a bit easier if he's going to do that, it takes a little less space in a backpack/range bag, and it's probably easier to get good with for his wifey if she decides to try it can still use g17 mags so that's not a problem either
I told him the same thing but butre is an absolute goober.
well i'm getting a cz75 ts orange which is pretty huge so i shouldn't diss full size service guns, but i always thought the 17 was a bit too big for what it is
Holy shit that's a nice piece. Ludicrously expensive though. Is that drilled and tapped for a one of those rail mounts that wraps over the slide and is mounted to the frame?

I finally got a good belt that could take the weight and the belt loops on my pants started snapping. So after buying new belts and stronger pants I can finally carry it with confidence.
so I take it my habit of going mexican carry is no good for an fnx-45
Is that what I have heard called "appendix carry" a.k.a "shoot your nuts off" carry? Anyway, my order from Estonia arrived yesterday, so today I can already go and pick it up. The website said 5-30 days for estimated delivery, but I put in my order juts this Thursday!
So, pistols. Curious gun enthusiast (Who owns no ACTUAL guns, just airsoft replicas because of their accessibility and affordability, as well as their usability in airsofting, obviously) with some questions to clear things up for myself. Anybody have details on why the iconic M1911 got replaced with Beretta 92, I believe was the model? My speculation is that the army needed a sidearm with more bullets over the bit more stopping power that the 1911 provides with its .45 caliber. I hear good things about the CZ-75. Is it true that the pistol has a good reputation? Glocks seem to have very odd fame. Some trust their life on it, some deem it worthless. Why is that? I've seen some sort of kits to make pistols look more like SMGs. What are those about?
mexican carry is appendix carry without a holster, named after the vaqueros who early on in mexico's gun bans would hide their guns in their waistbands so it would be easier to ditch just a gun rather than a gun and holster if you know there's feds around. having ditched your gun but still having a holster on your belt would be some pretty solid evidence that you were up to no good I just carry condition 3 when I'm doing mexican carry, you can't shoot your nuts off if nothing is chambered. my only holsters are owb hip holsters and mexican carry is very handy for deep carry when it might not be appropriate to have a gun on your hip [editline]5th April 2016[/editline]
So, pistols. That said, I think the M9 was a terrible replacement for it. It's not in the standard NATO calibre, it only has seven rounds in the magazine and it's not that reliable. Great gun up until about WW2 but was outdated as soon as the Browning HP entered the scene.
Glocks seem to have very odd fame. Some trust their life on it, some deem it worthless. oh yeah I forgot that plastic frames is still an issue to some people could probably quell that concern quickly by throwing a plastic and metal magazines on the floor and asking which one they think survived
