The highest rate of fire by a conventional (Well in a sense) machine gun is roughly 3,000 rpm by the ShKAS. The M134 holds the current overall record at a consistent 6,000 rpm.
Of course there's always metal storm, but that doesn't count in my opinion.
Probably the GSh-6-23M, with a 10-12K rpm.

Pretty sure the microgun hit about 10k.
M&Ps are great ARs at any level, there's a reason police departments use them. Mine's a really solid gun.
Just because a government agency uses something doesn't mean it's quality or worth the money. The US Military used M-14's for quite a while...
You could make a list a mile long of shit the government used that was complete garbage. Don't use that as a basis as to whether or not something is good. Police department loadouts change from state to state anyways, Oregon might be using Glocks in .357 sig with Colt AR's while Florida is using M&P's in 9mm with M&P AR's.
The M134 just "Holds the Record", as it was verified by the Guinness book of world records. I wouldn't doubt that it could theoretically go higher either, as with the microgun and the russian gun.

For those who don't know, government contracts are won by the lowest bidder, so our gear is pretty shite sometimes.
Went and picked up my new bang bang today

ran a few mags through it at the abandoned road landfill range, it shoots pretty good. I like.
Now that Ive got an AR and a pretty good 9mm, I think its time to take a break on buying guns for a few months.

slide release is tight as fuck though, this thing needs more serious breaking in.
already took the magazine disconnect out too.

That's true but they're good anyway ok

The fuck you just say about M-14's?
For those who don't know, government contracts are won by the lowest bidder, so our gear is pretty shite sometimes.
Don't even get me started. I had a brand new M16A4 made by FN issued to me. The slop between the upper and lower was so bad you could grab it by the barrel and stock, kink it, and see light through. Because of that it got absolutely filled with dust and sand. Damn thing barely barely shot 3.5 MOA.
Now a civilian FN, that's another story. Those are great!
The fuck you just say about M-14's?
That they're unreliable and they're garbage at their original intended role.
That they're unreliable and they're garbage at their original intended role.
Eh, I wouldn't say that. A lot of guys in Vietnam preferred to have an M14 over a 16. The biggest fault they had there was weight and wood stocks warping. It's "intended role" was also at a cross roads during the time period.
In terms of reliability I've never heard of any major issues coming out of them, and my personal rifle has gone through 2,000 rounds of steel case and brass junk ammo without skipping a beat.

They were pretty garbage at their original role, but they are great DMR's. They just happened to be the worst choice for jungle fighting.
Never had issues with reliability.

HAHAHAHA
The more I handle it the more I'm thinking a CZ75 P07 is going to be my next handgun. It's perfect.
That they're unreliable and they're garbage at their original intended role.
That's a bit much, especially considering the same action served through WWII and Korea and it was reliable enough for that.
Sure, by today's standards they aren't that good, but most of the world served with full caliber battle rifles for most of the cold war and they had their own issues.
I'm getting better at clay shooting.
Hit 42/50 clays today, DTL.
[editline]20th April 2016[/editline]
Might I add majority were straight-going targets since I'm unlicensed and have only been clay shooting for about 2 months.
I really need to get to the range. I still have a couple hundred reloads I picked up from a gunshow that are begging to be shot.
I always need to go to the range, it seems like I spend more time buying ammo than actually shooting it

The name is on the slide.
wut's this
and what is the barrel length?
looks weird as hell, like the frame is much taller than the barrel is long
Ruger SR9E (E=economy) with a 4" barrel. Can hold 17 with it's stock mags.

What's your beef with the M&P-15? Mine has run fine.

Forgotten weapons has a video on the M-14 VS. MAS49/56. Good watch if you want to see how reliable it actually is.
What's your beef with the M&P-15? Mine has run fine.
My beef with it is that it's an AR and that it's made by S&W.
So just an irrational hatred for the platform and brand, gotcha

I think it's pretty common in modern handguns to have the frame taller than the barrel length. As long as the slide length and frame height is around the same, it doesn't look too funky IMO.
So just an irrational hatred for the platform and brand, gotcha
I don't hate either, I just think they're overpriced trash.
Ruger on the otherhand, thats an unhealthy irrational hatred.
My MP15 has definitely performed at the level of its pricetag and I got it for free anyway so

Can't beat the price!
I love the AR that I built. It deserves a better optic, but whatever. More pressing matter await. Such as...
I really want something in the G3 neighborhood (I have an unhealthy love for MSG90/PSG1). I was looking at the PTR site, and really liked the PTR MSG 91, but the price tag on the 20" is a bit hefty.
Any ideas on alternatives, or cheaper variation that I could upgrade parts on over time?

You're honestly better off spending the money and buying a nice PTR, especially now that they come with the paddle mag release. Cent arms makes a good priced HK91 clone but I don't know how well it performs.

I'm definitely going for performance of looks, or just the fact it's a "replica". If the higher price tag is what it takes for something that will perform, then I guess I'll eat it.
Does anyone have any experience with either?

Nuclearannihilation has a PTR91, and from shooting it myself it's fucking awesome. The thing throws brass so far forward its like a secondary projectile.
