No, that term's used for the arrogant/popular dudes in high school.
Real life =\= highschool... Thanks M_B for putting some intellectual thought into your post... It stands out.
Real life =\= highschool... Thanks M_B for putting some intellectual thought into your post... In relation to this, I don't consider being an avid fan of sports nerdy, just because most sports fans I know are well rounded and friendly people. I'm an avid fan of writing and books, and noone considers me a nerd because I'm a well rounded person.
Yeah, they're nerds, but for some reason it's more socially acceptable to play Fifa than Fallout 3. You can fucking go outside to play football, I can't go around shooting (neither do I want to) people in the real world. That's why they suck more than I suck.
I would consider myself a sports nerd because I spend more than 70% of my free time looking at baseball statistics and reading about baseball.
I am sport nerd because i watch a lot of football ( soccer ), go weekly with friends to play football and watch the local team playing.
Depends on how in to it they are. If they're just a normal fan who doesn't obsess over it like me, then I wouldn't say they're a sports nerd.
Well you always have different ends of the spectrum. For games and stuff you can have people that play some "non mainstream" game casually and regularly, and have people that play 24/7 and never see the light of day. For example, a bunch of football players at my highschool play Starcraft and Starcraft 2, but then there are people who sit in the corner murmuring to themselves about video games. Whereas with sports you have normal fans, simply people who like watching the sport. Then you have people who constantly talk and think about Fantasy sports, spending every waking minute of their lives on the statistics and building of their team.
yo i can spend hours watching old nba shit and i like learning about the history of teams and players, but i'm not one of those douchebags who talk about stats and plays and shit 24/7. it's more of a hobby or interest to me.
No, that term's used for the arrogant/popular dudes in high school.
that's wrong a jock is just someone who plays or is obsessed with the sport and doesn't have very many other hobbies(or an pilot/astronaught) aka sports nerd
Real life =\= highschool... Thanks M_B for putting some intellectual thought into your post... It stands out.
I haven't ever heard the term "Jock" outside of high school or something school related when it doesn't mean a dude who races horses.

Good for you. :words: Depending on how obsessed you are with the subject defines your nerdiness. There are no "classes" of people in real life. Leave those bullshit highschool stereotypes behind you guys. Also, I was not directly talking to the guy in my quote. It was a @generalTopic
No because sport isn't a "nerd" activity. Being obsessed with TF2 hats or coding in gmod would be though
There is a stereotype.
Yes.
I can't take the use of the word 'nerd' too seriously but yeah definitely. I think the word nerd is just a lazy way of saying someone is dedicated to what they like, which isn't a bad thing, its only when it conflicts with personal life when it becomes too far.
