The only thing not releasing Huggy Bear from his cage does is make it so that you can't summon him for the Gargoyles and the Gaping Dragon, which also means nothing aside from netting you a couple of Sunlight Medals and a teensy tiny bit of lore. The rest of the quest goes on exactly the same.

Beating a boss with Lautrec summoned will cause him to give you a Sunlight Medal when you next talk to him, and having him be friendly with you lets you speak to him about the other people at Firelink. Lautrec still does his thing whether you're good buddies with him or not, if I recall correctly.

Mm, the Soylent ad feels a little nasty. Mostly because the guys making it have been non-stop quality control and shipping issues, with orders arriving a week before they expire, or with mold thriving inside the bottle, straight from the factory.

Haircut's questline gets stuck if you dont talk with Lautrec before gaping dragon I think. I always missed that conversation and they never left their spots afterwards...but I might have taken their drops to early...
