Man Plagues voice is so cool Is he american?
Man Plagues voice is so cool Is he american?
They wouldn't make so many jokes about him building a fence around his farm in the middle of nowhere if he wasn't! [sp]Specifically, Kentucky, according to the wiki[/sp]
When you get down to it, you can just write off Yhorm as a bad boss fight. The entire fight relies on a gimmicky mechanic that isn't explained well at all and is just a needless callback to Demon's Souls. Now if he were a normal boss like the[sp]Ancient Wyvern[/sp]or the Deacons then maybe the gimmick wouldn't be so bad. But the fact that he's suppose to be one of the main bosses of the game and you don't fight him proper like all the other LoC makes it one of the disappointing moments of DaS3. Also the tease of him[sp]being a DaS2 giant and then not actually being one[/sp] was also kind of ass, imo.
I still thought it was a really cool boss fight, but yeah it didn't play great.
the dark souls 3 [sp]storm ruler[/sp] works by holding the weapon arts button (L2 or LT) until it charges and then, while still holding the button, you press either of the attack buttons to do the attack i had to look it up too since it worked so differently in demon's souls, never could've guessed you have to charge it since there's no other weapon art in the game that requires charging, as far as i know
Maybe it's just me but the weapon art for Storm Ruler was incredibly obvious when I found it. I picked it up, saw the name and immediately thought "I bet the weapon art is the wind attack." and then while holding the weapon art button I took a second to get in the positioning right allowed it to charge. Every weapon art in the game requires you to either press or hold L2/LT, I don't see what's so hard about figuring out you might have to hold it for 2 seconds. Especially since the initial wind effect looks like it's charging up.

It's literally the only weapon art that has two levels of charging in the game. Yhorm is a terrible bossfight that was done better nearly a decade ago. FROM really, really dropped the ball on that entire section of the game (From Irithyll Dungeon onwards), considering you have to go through a shit version of Latria that is about as unique as a chalice dungeon to get to a tiny area with a terrible bossfight. There are three levels that are like Chalice dungeons and it's really clear that it is where they had to cut corners, and it really sucks. Everything about Carthus in the lore is so much more interesting than the terrible dungeon that you're stuck in. Literally right above you is a cool-ass desert civilization that you don't get to see.

By "getting the positioning right" I meant dodging an attack and moving to a spot where the old Storm Ruler would have been effective from. I'm not saying it's a good mechanic, I just don't see how people find it so hard to figure out. Do people just mash L2 then attack every time they use weapon arts? Is holding the button for literally 2 seconds that unusual?

Learning how to use such a weapon in the heat of battle probably didn't do any favors either, and culminated in him having to practice outside of battle. In any case, he did the best he could do with what he knew, and ended up exactly how it would have ended regardless.

Is holding the button for literally 2 seconds that unusual?
yes, holding a button that makes you do a stance that every straightsword in the game does, then instead of attacking the boss you're currently fighting with the weapon arts attacks that every weapon in the game with that stance does, you just continue holding it for a while with no indication that it's charging up and no hint in the description that it requires charging up in the middle of a bossfight against a lord of cinder, with a weapon that people who haven't played demon's souls wouldn't even know is special outside of a "does extra damage to giants" bit in the description (which it doesn't unless you use the charge attack), is pretty hard to figure out there's no indication it needs charging up so of course most people are just going to dodge an attack and punish it by attacking the boss immediately (like the game has taught you to until that point), especially if the weapon arts attacks already have wind effects that make them seem like a special attack even though they're not these problems could've easily been fixed by a) having a hint at charging in the description, b) having a clear charging animation by having the wind form around the sword gradually while you hold the stance, c) giving it a special stance that makes it more clear it's charging, such as holding it up to gather wind, or d) just not giving it normal weapon arts attacks to make it clear those aren't what the weapon art stance is for but instead from decided to do none of these and just hoped that people would hold the sword art button for a couple of seconds (which, during a boss fight, is a pretty long time for something that isn't even hinted at) i'm sorry for getting worked up but it's far from hard to see how people wouldn't figure it out, it's pointlessly obtuse with 0 hint towards it, especially for people who haven't played Demon's Souls, or hell, even though i had i didn't figure it out because in Demon's Souls it didn't require any charging

God I love the scrublords intro "YOU FORGOT THE COOKIES??"
Pat cracking open the vodka is my favorite.
I said this before, but Matt wrapping the controller around his neck as Pat desperately tries climbing the couch cracks me up everything- even sitting is a challenge for these scrublords!
Honestly my favorite part is when Liam throws the fight stick at Woolie and it just falls apart.

One thing about the DS3 LP I love is how the fans keep making fun of Pat.
