I find Liam infuriating when he decides to be anal about some standpoint. He comes across as dismissive, or willfuly ignorant of other people's arguments.
Pat may have some crazy ideas and opinions, but at least he fully admits he's an asshole, and is entertaining while being batshit insane or terribly wrong.
I was a lot more frustrated with Pat on the podcast than Liam. Liam said some dumb things in the heat of the moment, but Pat was shitty and unreasonable the whole time. At some point, it sounded like he was about to say something about how games are about objective quality and not personal taste, but then he backed down because even he knew that sounded crazy. Or maybe I was just hearing things.

I mean Liam did admit today that he tends to make bad arguing decisions when in the heat of the moment, so maybe that's a part of it. Either way, I think both are not the best at arguing (which leads to more interesting podcasts, I feel)

No, no. He was definitely on track to make some claim about objectivity in game preferences.
Pat is quite opinionated, that isn't surprising. But I think even he realises the can of shitstorm imbued worms saying that on the podcast would open.

He wasn't playing devil's advocate, it was what he genuinely thinks about the situation. No one should feel guilty that Mighty No. 9 came out bad except the developers themselves. It goes both ways with something good like Shovel Knight. All the people who funded it did was enable the development of what they hoped was going to be a good game, the quality of the product lied on the developer's hands themselves, and not the people who funded it.
I do hate when pat goes on that 'everyone but me is wrong' rant during an actual legit discussion. It's just childish. I understand why Liam was pissed at him for that, even if he was defending mighty number 9 more than it deserved.
