"...he might have severe damage and you never intended to permanently disable him." Sorry, if someone attacks me and I manage to knock them out, I really don't give a shit if they get hurt or die.
Here's a question. Why the fuck is he in a dark alley in the first place? See that's never explained in these scenarios and it really pisses me off, it's like saying there's no fire extinguisher in my house and saying "Oh well I bet if you were in a volcano you'd wish you had one to keep the fires off you" It's barely fucking relevant and an incredibly unlikely scenario that you construct with the sole purpose of serving your point and it's not likely to happen.
..mad, bro?
I wanna be mugger
people in England. They have to be 18 and have ID to buy kitchen utensils. Lol
hey a fork killed my father :saddowns:

Plus you'll be in a shitload of trouble with law and 'it was self defense' doesn't cut it.

what the fuck man
lol wtf... if you have to learn how to use your natural animal instinct in a life or death situation. good bye
what the fuck man
Holy fuck my browser stuck trying to scroll past that right when it reached his penis.
Hell, the karate school I am going to(kenpo or something) teaches this shit, and other techniques. Even one of my instructors stated that while some people won't attack the groin area, said instructor would attack there first, then run, or fight. Basically, life or death situations involving fighting, I would say fuck honor.
There's really no such thing as the best. All are equally good at self-defense and given a situation where they are face to face
I wouldn't say that's true. I'm a black belt in taekwondo and it's hard to hold my own against someone equally as skilled in muay thai. Some fighting styles just have weaknesses when paired against others. That's not to say all martial artists within the same practice approach situations the same way, but some practices teach all their subjects certain advantages. Then again, in a street fight you're probably not going to be fighting someone with martial arts experience unless you're the shithead trying to mug someone. also
I've heard yelling really loudly helps, as it can disorient/intimidate your attacker, and it invigorates you and causes your blood to absorb more oxygen or some shit like that. Is this true?

If someone is on the floor and you start hitting them, the tables have turned from them assaulting you to you assaulting them. When someone is down, you either leave or wait for them to get up and see if they have calmed down or want some more. Attacking someone who is on the floor defenseless is no different from a bunch of people jumping you and kicking you to death.

If the situation is where you're being mugged or any other really dangerous situation, you should probably kick him if he's on the floor. It's not about winning, it's about getting out of there without getting harmed. A different situation might be a fight in front of a bar. People can be drunk or just plain stupid and agressive. In such situations you're usually not in life threatening situation and getting him to the ground can be enough to make him stop. Not only is it just intimidating, but people close by may hear it and help you.
If the robber shows his face(if he was masked or not masked at all) theres a really high chance that he will kill you.
[ The only thing you need to teach yourself before you start, is to not be a fucking pussy. Pussy? Who the fuck cares,
:psyduck:
ITT: General Facepunch demographic says "lul give him everything he wants to avoid a fight :downs:"
Yeah much better to try and attack a armed guy with your Kung-Fu you learned on the internet. These threads never end well, it just becomes a circle-jerk of "triple-blackbelt super-fit martial arts masters" thinking they are Neo, while in reality if they fought they'd just grab eachother's hair and scream with whiny voices until some girls pull them apart.
:psyduck:
The first 'pussy' is that you should not be afraid to do something The second is when people call you a pussy when you kick balls for example.
That part about the punch to the throat worries me, it only takes 150 pounds of force to collapse the trachea, which is not that much. Professional fighters can get up to 500 pounds in a choke hold. So yeah, unless it is an absolute emergency, you could kill the person.
Wrong, it takes 15 pounds of force to collapse the trachea, at least if my memory serves me well. For some reason some of these comments instantly reminded me of
A mate of mine from school was from a very military family. His dad and granddad and everyone were in the military. His dad taught him Sambo from a young age. He and I used to spar in the computer room occasionally at recess and lunch time. He told me how the whole 'stand sideways' thing is a bunch of bullshit and it benefits you to face your attacker front on with your arms kind of raised in front of you at head height and legs apart. Anyone care to confirm if that's true or not? It seemed to work for him, and when I adopted that stance it actually seemed to make it a lot easier to dodge and hit him.
A mugger will have extremely little reason to kill you, he wants your stuff, not your life.
Don't you know what happened to Batman's parents? :ohdear:

I can make a really loud high pitched bird noise that hurts people's ears. Will this be useful y/n?

Your face is protected, and punching and jabbing is easier to do
