Do you know if banks in general would accept a rental contract? Like the NIN, it's something I plan to organise the day that I get there and wouldn't have any bills yet.
Not sure. I've only ever used old bank statements but as long as it has your current address on it - it might work.
urgh our estate agent is whinging about something in our old flat which we are 99.9% sure has been there since the day we moved in and has never been brought up in the 2 years we've lived there. I hope they don't try and take money from our deposit for it. We don't have pics of the condition of the flat from when we moved in (a noob mistake which I have not made with the place we are living in now) but since the management of the property changed hands from one estate agent to another after a year in the flat, I am certain they don't have any pics either. Maybe they are just pointing things out hoping we'll shit our pants and accidentally admit to something we haven't done.

They've got a time span to lodge a formal claim against you. Go read deposit protection scheme rules. I'd also go down the route of harrassment if they're fucking you about. Had some prick at Foxtons in London try it on, uneducated fuck was apologising by the end of the week. No respect for the estate agents over in the UKbottom feeding fucks are in the same bracket as loan sharks. There's a reason purple bricks / Foxtons share price is declining / in the shit.

I am worried but I think I am probably safe - we didn't cause the damage they're concerned about and I am sure they would need before & after photos to prove it was actually us.
hi guys, bit of a long shot but my little sister's lost her tracksuit bottoms and--
dress it up how you like but you're still dressed like a spice boy
well well well.

PSA, Series 5 of taskmaster starts on Dave tonight. Imo one of the funniest shows on the tele box these days.
And here's a task they cut from the new series cause they didn't feel it was worth showing to Greg.

Landlord abroad is a bullshit excuse, I had one when I was in Putney London and he lived in Hong Kong there's no excuse for not replying to an email after 48 hours when you take into account time zone differences. To put it bluntly landlord is expecting X return on his property per month if theres damage he'll tell the estate agent to claim it back either off you or your predecessors. If its easier to bully you out of 300 quid and top the rest up themselves so be it... Push hard for your deposit back, once its in your bank they're never going to touch it. Best thing about shit companies is that they employ shit people, managed to with hold a contactable address and phone number from them, all they had was a junk email address. Apologies for the rant just these bottom feeding fucks wind me up, the amount of foreign people taken advantage of by them is a joke. I had a house mate who was under completely different terms to me and paying more for the same size room I mean wtf. She had me write an email to them calling them out on the bullshit, she got a reply the same day asking her to approve / sign a change in her direct debit with a small refund of a months worth of rent. I asked her if she wanted to go for more, we had worked out she was paying 15% more, poor fucker was too polite for her own good.
Back at uni, we have to go to a shop and top up electricity and gas at paypoint places, we keep running out of electric in the middle of the night and waking up to defrosted food. Back in the stone-ages boys.

I emailed back last night pretty much saying that the damage has been there since we moved in, has never been brought up in any inspections during the 2 years we lived there, and we did not report it as a concern (truth be told the flat was shit and had so many marks/scuffs etc we probably didn't ever notice it but I didn't tell them that). No reply from them today so I guess they are waiting for the landlady to decide how awkward she wants to be :v: I understand the rant - I have never had a 'good' experience with an estate agent yet and I now know why people loathe them. Luckily the ones managing our current property have proved to be more useful to us in the few weeks we've lived here than any others have so hopefully they can keep it up.

What is Taskmaster
What is Taskmaster
quite obviously a tv show on dave

The fact he lampshaded it in the first 60 seconds of the series does not help either. The rest are so-so at the moment as well but this could just be attributed to the tasks they showed off last night. I'm holding out for a Bob Mortimer save though. Personnaly, I liked series 2 the most, but 1, 3 and 4 were not bad at all. There is a certain not too secret or hard to find Reddit page where someone has been uploading every episode to google drive, I won't link directly to it incase it gets taken down. But if you can find it I highly recommend S2E01, the potato golf hole challenge is fantastic.

Welp, timing belt snapped on my car so it's a fucking scrapper. Ciao Alfa club, it was nice while it lasted. Looks like I'm going back on the Volvo's.
Timing belts snapping are the worst, basically means the end of the car for a lot of them.
Timing belts snapping are the worst, basically means the end of the car for a lot of them.
If you know what you're doing - they're relatively straightforward to replace. It's time consuming though (having to dismantle half of the front end of your engine just to get to it then retime the engine). In saying that though - if the car value isn't worth it (like a £500 car) the time involved is probably more costly than the car's value anyway.

I landed myself a 300 quid garden shed anyway, '97 Volvo V70, 10 months MOT, could be worse.
break it for parts?
Yeah, that's the plan. Stepdads going to take it off my hands and use the parts to repair another 156. V70 is really good nick for being 20 years old though, even came with a combined CD changer AND Tape deck. Truly in the lap of late 90's luxury. It's also dark blue, people keep calling it the 'Breaking Bad car' because apparently there was a blue V70 in that.
Ooh ooh that reminds me, anyone in the north want my car. 02 plate, 2L focus ghia 115000 miles. Timing belt was due about 4 years or 15000 miles ago. Needs a new gearbox speed sensor (symptoms involve the speedo stops working and a reduction in power, can sometimes stall itself when coming to a stop in nuetral). Has a large dent on nearside rear door (someone backed a tow bar into it) Otherwise it runs nice and is nice to drive. Doesn't feel as rough as similar age focuses I've driven. Will accept slightly more than scrap value [editline]18th September 2017[/editline]
Yeah, that's the plan. I think Gus drives a Volvo in Breaking Bad but it seems like an obscure reference
