Absolutely fuming about work right now. The company executive just texted us at 9PM saying "Call ASAP to discuss weekend work", when earlier today he explicitly stated that this week we wouldn't need to come in this weekend, given that the past four weeks we've worked non-stop, 7 days a week. He can fuck right off with that shit.
And here I came to complain about 10 days of warehouse work with only one day in the middle off. [editline]11th October 2017[/editline]
AYY cunts I'm in your country so I came for the bants and good chat
We're starting a populist revolt to overthrow the upper class soon so you may want to grab a bat or batten down the hatches.

My legs are bad.
I had lamb rogan josh once and it was awful, is this intentional?
I think so because they are dire.
Illegal to do that.
I thought it was myself.
So, who else has had a underlying sick feeling all 2017?
So I'm taking up a new job in Manchester with a start date in late January. Moving out of home for the first time. Moving over 250 miles away. Where is good to live around Manchester which isn't a shithole, with good internet and not too expensive?
You could live along the train lines into manchester. I live near glossop, decent night out, can hang out if you fancy it, 45 mins on train out of Piccadilly. Alternatively stockport is less than 10 mins on train, they have some deal forcing all trains to stop there so its frequent service and well connected, not too bad a place and not too expensive, when I was there I found it hard to find people to socialise with though. Manchester itself is a pretty good night life, especially if you're into student stuff or lgbt stuff. Didsbury is a lovely place but I'm not sure about price, Withington is nice too. Now I used to live in levenshulme to, back then (2012) it was pretty bad but I have heard that money is going into there and people are trying to open artisanal bakeries and coffee shops (not gentrification but investment) - don't quote me on this though. It has a trainstation straight to Piccadilly, super markets, a good bus route (every 10 mins and night bus every 30 mins). It's also a 20 minute walk away from fallowfield which is a student area so really good night out. For more upmarket areas (out of my area of expertise really) maybe castlefield, spinningfields or a flat in the city centre itself. Good places to hang out: northern quarter (indie type place), fallowfield (students + parklife), canal street (lgbt), deansgate (lil bit more expensive), anywhere else (loads of bars and clubs scattered). Check out alchemist too.
Glossop is a good train to get to Manchester but I would not bother if you are gonna drive to work.

I'd definitely be up for nights out when I get up there, I'll keep you posted. Your employer cannot dock you anything that you haven't agreed to, in writing, unless it's straight-up criminal damage afaik in which case it goes to the court anyway. [editline]13th October 2017[/editline] At every retail job I've ever worked (so pretty much every job I've worked) my employer has tried to get me to pay for my own uniform, or tried to dock me when my uniform has been damaged at work and I've told them to wax my rod (not literally, don't do that) because it's illegal to dock you. Besides, if they want me to wear the uniform they should provide it and spares anyway. At one of my jobs I saw one manager (now dismissed because he was diddling the books) try to charge sixteen year olds with no independence or transport up to fourty quid for their uniforms after they damaged them as a standard part of their work (one split the arse of her trousers bending over, the other had his shirt ruined by a split package of bleach) and I had to step in and remind him that he was literally breaking the law and being intimidating, which I'm both witness to and willing to testify to at tribunal. I caught him doing it twice and reported it to other managers, who just said "Well, if he wants to play that game and be risky, so be it". Imagine trying to charge a fucking sixteen year old who can't even afford to get the bus into work for a split pair of shitty trousers. Utter wanker. [editline]13th October 2017[/editline] I doublechecked it through a couple sources and your employer straight up cannot dock you anything but national insurance and pensions, the latter of which you have to agree to or is usually highlighted in your contract. Otherwise, any docking is illegal. If you damage something or are responsible for a cash shortage, your employer has to prove it in court.

Best of both.
The medical company I worked for (that will remain nameless but it was a private company, not the government ambulance services) charged me for my uniform saying I would be reimbursed depending on the uniform items I required. Needless to say I never was reimbursed and when I left to move to the Netherlands they tried to make me return the uniform. I gave them the parts of uniform which were specifically branded with the insignia but I kept the trousers and boots because they were plain and I paid good money for them.

I worked back door unloading wagons so steel toes were required. Eventually the sole came apart from the rest of the shoe, so I turned up in trainers, my lairiest Reebok Sir Jams. They decided to send me home, 3 hours later I get a sheepish call asking for me to come back. Fuck off, you send me home that's on you pal. Anyway the next time I was in they tried to haul me in for a disciplinary, I was like nah mate I want my rep. So eventually the rep started his shift, I found him straight away. A nasty, grumpy cunt of a Scot the man was, terribly miserable man got who hated everyone and everything unless he was representing you. He wiped the floor with em, they didn't have a leg to stand on. It was absolutely beautiful. On my next shift a pair of boots and a new pair of trousers without holes in them were waiting for me [editline]13th October 2017[/editline] I kept those boots when I left, reasoning that I'd paid for my previous ones
Really, I used to be a shift manager for a little chain convenience store (no names named) and whenever someone accepted a counterfeit note I just made sure they knew how to spot counterfeits and that check-pens were available on the till. If your employer is too much of a fucking cheapskate to train you or provide money-checking pens then it's out of your hands. I've handled cash for the better part of a decade and some fakes have stunned me. Some are fuckobvious, others are sly as fuck and almost undetectable. Don't wilfully accept notes you know are fake, that's illegal. But also don't act like you're at fault for accepting notes you weren't aware were dodgy when your employer won't provide the means to check notes at the till. As far as I know, pens and UV lights are the only 100% reliable way to check them without a chance of human error. Whenever I cashed up and I found fake notes, it fucking sucked, but at the end of the day it just happens. The amount of fake old pound coins that get circulated is literally immeasurable. You've just gotta take the hit and put the fake notes to one side for handover to the police. I've heard mixed reports as to whether fifties work with the pens -- some pens work, some pens don't -- but you can also rub them on a bit of paper. If some red ink comes off then it's likely genuine, as the real printing method never fully dries. What your employer should be doing is training you to find out who's doing it. Pay attention to who pays in twenties only. Especially low-value transactions done only with twenties. Who comes in several times a day, or during the shifts fake twenties are found on, and pays in twenties. People who ask to change up large-value notes into easy, unspecific change are also usually somewhat fishy. There is no shame in testing a note if you're unsure of it, even if the customer is otherwise trustworthy. If the customer is curious or perturbed then just reassure them it's a formality of retail business -- because it is. If a customer gets aggy about it then it's their fucking problem, not yours. If they refuse to let you test the note, or get hostile, then just give them the note back and refuse to serve them regardless of what they asked for or regardless of whether or not they offer additional payment methods. Your management sounds like a sack of cocks, but if you grab a manager when this happens then you have someone backing you up. But above all else, do not accept a note you do not have faith is legit just because your manager tells you to clam up and accept it. I did this at my first job and it turned out to be fake and the manager had no end of gabber to spout about it and how stupid I was. Absolute cockend. If they try and punish you for this, then I suggest seeking an employment lawyer. Got lucky, cos they didn't try and charge me for it. I kept my badge, though. I've kept every badge from every job I've worked. I keep them on the inside flap of my shoulder bag.

We had no pens, UV light etc to check the notes, I told him that if I accidentally take a fake £20, then I'll apologise but I will not pay for it. Especially with no tools to do so properly. My manager is a genuinely nice guy but I think he's been told false by his boss. Anyway, after he kept testing us with one of the fake 20's we had in, I did the same to him as I was leaving the shop going home. "Oh I forgot I need to grab a bottle of vodka for tonight", paid with the fake £20 under the till and then got my vodka and change. Couldn't help but burst out laughing immediately, I've never seen a man go that red before. Either way, he apologised. Today we suddenly have a lot of new fake checker pens and a UV light in. Manager messages me apologising again and said we're not going to get docked if we take them but keep an eye out.
Fuckin starving, hop on Just Eat, but every time it's a massive turnoff reading the blatant bot reviews. You'll get the same fuckers popping up over and over, and I highly doubt "Hengwei" and "Salih" have eaten at this place 9 times each in the past month, bothering to give it a full 6/6 stars each time, the fat cunts. Only reviews I trust are ones that are obviously written by real people and aren't just max stars, and they're almost always saying how shit the food is, so I check another takeaway and it's the same. It's like every single restaurant is paying a monthly fee to have bots give 6/6 reviews. Every time I trust reviews on the website, the food always arrives and it's a steaming pile of shit. I've also been googling the food rating scores of places I plan on eating at, and they're always 3 or below :( so my only option is to hop in the car and get BK or KFC or McD, or order Dominos (which is stupidly expensive). [editline]14th October 2017[/editline] forgot to mention the just eat review system is also garbage. you can rate the food quality 1 out of 6, but if you're honest and rate their service / delivery time high (which most of the time it is tbf) it'll average out and appear as a 5/6 star review, despite the main factor - the food - being dumpster tier quality. once ordered a kebab from a place that had raving 6/6 reviews and i swear to god one of the donner strips had a pink, blood red sphincter / anus in it. [editline]14th October 2017[/editline] i get way too angry about this but food is life, and i miss being in a civilized city where i can get wagamama or nandos delivered to my door with deliveroo
