Since I am back in Scotland for a few months before I go back to the Netherlands I am considering working for Amazon over Christmas. How bad of an idea is this?
Since I am back in Scotland for a few months before I go back to the Netherlands I am considering working for Amazon over Christmas. How bad of an idea is this?
How much do you like your legs?
How much do you like your legs?
You could say I am attached to them.
You could say I am attached to them.
Well, they're gonna hurt. And if you don't keep up to your targets, you're going to hear about it. And they don't like it when you're not back to work immediately after the clock switches to not-break time. And there's a general false sense of positivity. The manager people who work close to you are alright people, but it's clear that the Agency people can just drop you at any moment so you need some good excuses as to why you're not perfect. Also, if you don't have robots, picking is going to break your legs. I survived by hiding in shipping where they can't/don't track individual progress. If you're the sort of person who was moving most of their life and not sitting in front of a computer then you'll fair better than I did but I survived. It's not good but the modern world hates the proletariat so there's nothing you can really do until the glorious revolution starts.

It is advertised as 4 days on 3 days off but I know they fuck people about.
Where the hell do you live and work? I went from 1600 in the red to being in the black in 5 months back when I first got a job while in overpriced student housing.
minimum wage + living in the 2nd top city in the UK for abysmally high rent ( london being first) = dismal income
minimum wage + living in the 2nd top city in the UK for abysmally high rent ( london being first) = dismal income
Oh you're in Aberdeen too?
Yeah I agree. Not many cinemas around here though. And by not many I mean none.
yeahh, moving to a city where there's only a single odeon and fuck all other cinemas from aberdeen where i had many Vue (tm) brand cinemas to choose from has just made me give up and wait for it to come out on home media i miss vue :(
Last film I saw in the cinema was IT with my sister and I was aggravatingly sober but it was good. I broke down laughing so hard during the New Kidz On The Block joke they did that I reckon if I wasn't a scary-looking cunt I'd have been chucked out.
You could say I am attached to them.
this was worth the entire weekend, made me right smile likes
Also a guy at work asked me if I could sell him weed and I'm like "mate, I'm not even a dealer" and he was like "are you sure?" and I was like "Are you fucking kidding me? Are you TELLING me I'm a drug dealer now?"
I haven't been drunk since June
So when's the funeral for our son, the USA?
I haven't been drunk since June
Raising a glass to you, Officer.
I can count the times I have been drunk on one hand it's that rare an occurrence. I don't really drink much though tbf, cook with the stuff much more often.
Oh you're in Aberdeen too?
nope, edinburgh. there was an article in a newspaper not too long ago noting edinburgh was, outside of london, the worst for exploiting student accomodation. literally, fucking all the flats have gone up almost £100 in the last couple years for absolutely no reason. nothing's changed, they're still all shitey, old flats with mice infestations. You're lucky to find anything that costs you less than £450 PCM (as an individual ) and also really starting to dislike drinking, much prefer chilling out with some 🍳 than a tinnie.

It's a complete joke.
Raising a glass to you, Officer.
My birthday on 1st November so probs gonna get wrecked
My birthday on 1st November so probs gonna get wrecked
I go on holiday (from work, I'm not going anywhere) on Wednesday for 9 days so I'll definitely throw a few back in your honor.
Why are students expected to keep to strict and rigorous work schedules, whilst lecturers can hand you an assignment back weeks late without even so much of an apology, been like this at plymouth and bristol. I also remember being sat in a final year lecture, being told how important timekeeping was, only for the lecturer to run over the time limit and zoom through the last few slides
one of our lecturers is an absolute prick and will upload lecture notes at 7:40am on the day of the lecture and we're left to rush to the library early in the morning to print this stuff off. what a bastard.
Can confirm Edinburgh is awful for students. It's a complete joke.
You saying the one city that's close to me is awful for my situation? Yeah sounds about right.
virgin media are absolute cunts lmao, i was with them for three - almost four - years, on my fourth year, i transferred the contract over to my parents cause I had three months left on my contract and it'd basically save me paying for 3 months of broadband I wasn't using since i moved to a place that doesn't have virgin. 8 months out of my parent's first 12 months were a joke. they were paying for 200mbps connection and were getting consistently slow speeds around 40mbps. numerous calls out, didn't get fixed. they credited us £48 which is an absolute piss take, totally shafted us. i only give a shit cause i vouched for them to my parents, and my parents did me a favour by taking it on, but they ended up dealing with a heaping pile of shit for most of the year cause of me. virgin media can fuck emselves.
i was with them for three - almost four - years, on my fourth year
What? How is that possible if it's almost four? I do agree though, at one point back in like 2010 they introduced super fast broadband in my area, a guy I gamed with had and could double quadruple my speed but it would constantly just drop in speed or just disconnect completely which made the whole thing pointless. As far as I am aware they haven't changed much from that. It could be the network point on the wall, we had a BT Engineer who wired ours wrong. He had two of the colour wires the wrong way around, took me like 3 months to notice as it was the last thing I checked as I was going to replace the point, swap them around and bam, instantly fixed.
I was 3 years 9 months when I transferred my contract over, that's the almost 4 years bit (should have said 3rd year but w/e), cause if I didn't, I'd have had to pay a cancellation fee as well as £54 a month for 3 months. Strangely enough, I never had a single issue with them in the time I was with them. They were always brilliant, I didn't even have many issues, but if I did, they'd have an engineer out within a few days. But I was up in a massive city, so maybe that's why. My parents live in a small town, and Virgin had a known issue that had been ongoing for months that I wasn't even aware of when I had my parents signed up. I felt super guilty cause I vouched for them and got them into a 12 month contract, only for it to be a total shit show. But speaking to their customer service over the phone, they legit don't care about you until you threaten to take your business elsewhere. The second I did that, the rude cow (who had the nerve to tell me I wouldn't find a better deal with anyone else, which is utter BS) on the phone transferred me to a manager who totally sucked me off and threw a tonne of discounts and credits my way. I still got shafted, but overall, it's a lot less worse than it could have been.
Had a night out in nottingham seems to be a great place
Had a night out in nottingham seems to be a great place
I've had one night out there after seeing Twenty One Pilots at Rock City, I got to a Taxi to a friends house I was staying at and he knew I wasn't from around there and he fucking overcharged me loads. I was too drunk to care but £30 for a Taxi that drove about 3 miles is insane...
Everyone I know from nottingham keeps saying it's a rough place. I went there for a uni interview and the place seemed really nice. Maybe there's just rough neighbourhoods in the residential areas.
