I normally would not consider it but they are the only people who have shown any interest in me.
100% sure it is because I am leaving again in January
They hire literally anyone who is drug free and can speak a modicum of English. That's how I got in even when I'm an incompetant weakling.

How do they know if you're drug free?
drug tests? when i got a job offer from tesco, they told me they'd drug test me before and randomly during my employment. i'm sure amazon is the same.
How do they know if you're drug free?
You either piss into a cup or deepthroat a cotton swab.
Yeah I have heard about the drug tests. Not had anything for like a solid month so should be good.
But do they actually do that? For minimum wage slave labour? Some class A intrusive bullshit if they do.

I dunno, for stuff like warehousing or operating heavy machinery I can kinda see it being important from a safety point of view.
If your job is flipping burgers then I don't really think it's necessary.

Welcome to Late Capitalism, take a number and wait for either a robot to take your job and house or for the revolution.
So far there have been zero trick or treaters, but I think that's down to the fact my local area is full of old people and it seems nobody gives a fuck about Halloween. Compared to 5 years ago we had competitions on which road had the best pumpkin and this autistic kid used to knock on doors and give your carved pumpkin a rating. Oh well, gonna go watch bake off and eat all the sweets now.
There's been some around my area, but all of them refused to go into my dimly lit cul-de-sac and just stood at the entrance looking down...
Was too drunk to answer the door earlier when kids came knocking. It's a good feel when you're old enough to just lay there in a reclining chair knowing that you're annoying some little shits just like Old Man Calruthers annoyed you all them sunsets ago.
We didn't get a single child knock last night, and we had the house lit up ready for 'em. Now I am going to have to eat all these fucking sweets and get even fatter.

I can't see the revolution being successful, but we'll be able to discuss where we went wrong in the reeducation camps

Re-education costs money, we'd just be liquidated. Do you know how much gold is in a person? Less that it's worth to feed one.
yeah shallow fried, but I'm not a big enough idiot to leave the heat that high when I go away. I just kinda ended up with charred sausages on one side and they'd been left over the heat too long so they were dry. I goofed up, but was never at risk of a pan fire.
I've got a mini extinguisher under the kitchen sink just in case :ok:
that's a good idea. I have a fire blanket and a co2 extinguisher.

i never once got drug tested during my tesco warehouse contracting
drug tests seem to be pretty common these days, I've got a bunch of friends who work at alton towers nearby for near minimum wage and they get random drug tests there
on a related note, I went there a few days ago with some pals for their halloween event, and we happened upon this woman face down on a table surrounded by a bunch of security guards. they put her in the recovery position and this guy turned up that she knew, and the second I laid eyes on him I knew he was on something, just had that general "I'm on drugs" vibe and when he was asked to take his shades off he had fucking huge pupils
turns out one of the security guards was my friend's dad, he said that both of them were on cocaine and one of the woman was actually a transvestite. madness. who the fuck does coke at a theme park? sounds like an easy way to have a heart attack

I have only had a drug test on entry to my employment and that was 9 years ago lol

They only ever do drug or liquor tests if you're a driver, for obvious reasons. And even then I've heard they're pretty sparse with doing them. In all my time at Tesco I never got tested once, nor even questioned about my alcohol habits or anything. Not a drugs person but I knew people who would go outside, smoke a joint, then come back in stinking of the stuff and the managers wouldn't say shit.

Really, retail has a subtle 'don't ask don't tell' culture in regards to everything. Esp. in regards to slacking off. When I used to finish my work an hour early and go hide amongst the homewares it was understood that you didn't ask what I was doing and I wouldn't ask what you were doing. Same for if I came across a colleague hiding somewhere.
When I worked retail because my EMT work did not give me enough shifts before I was promoted I smoked quite a lot. Managers really did not care so long as you didnt get high at work.
Also I got a phonecall today asking me to come into an interview for selling life insurance, which is a nice surprise. Maybe I wont need to work in a shit warehouse after all.
>selling life insurance
Would rather do warehouse work tbh

Would you rather have your back or your soul?

I mean strictly speaking I am not really meant to be doing anything that involves heavy lifting anyway because I have a spinal injury.
Also it is only for 2 months so eh idk

Isn't life insurance heavy?
they straight up told me I'd be randomly drug tested during my employment

At Tesco? Because they told me the same thing and they never tested me once, despite it being an open secret within my department that I was an alcoholic. My manager was even aware of one shift I did where I was still technically over the limit from the night before and he just laughed and told me to take it easy in future.
[editline]1st November 2017[/editline]
Anyone hungover in my department didn't stay that way for long, though. Hauling milk back and forth makes your arse snap back to reality, oop, there goes gravity pretty quickly.
