I'm really worried my mum has early signs of Alzheimer's. She's in her late 50s, I think she's 58 or 59? She forgets stuff pretty easily, and has trouble using a TV remote. I was subtly asking her to do basic things like pause a movie using the pause button on the remote, and she'd sit and stare at it for a minute and then say she can't. It scares the shit out of me seeing my mum like that, she'd get genuinely child-like confused.
Another time, she spent five minutes trying to open a bottle of olive oil that has one of those metal clasps like in this pic. She's been using olive oil bottles like this for years and has never had problems opening it, but she was genuinely confused and couldn't figure out how to open it. She kept trying to twist the top off, and it broke my heart.
Is there anything I can do to determine if it's genuinely early onset Alzheimer's, or if it's just normal growing old issues? I don't wanna tell her I think she might have Alzheimer's, because that might worry her a lot. Is there even anything we can do to revert Alzheimer's, or is it one of those diseases that we haven't got a cure for yet? Fuck mortality.
I wouldn't jump straight to Alzheimer's, it may just be the menopause. Maybe suggest that she should come to your local GP with you, see if a professional can determine what it is?
Menopause can cause forgetfulness? The more I think about interactions with my mum, the more it scares me because most of the time, she seems bewildered. I'm also replaying a lot of arguments that I've had with her in my head, and just a lot of her behaviour seems to indicate something along the lines of Dementia or Alzheimer's. I feel really, really bad, because during these arguments, I've yelled with her and now that she's gone back home, I feel really bad about it.
I'll bring it up when I go visit them in a couple of weeks. I really hope it isn't anything serious.

You need to be really careful in how you approach it, as people don't like to accept they're getting old. You could be right and she could be developing Alzheimer's, or she could just be getting older. Menopause is definitely another option, it can make you very scatter brained. I would be less worried if it is just episodes of forgetfulness.
Try and find out if it runs in your family first. Dementia runs in mine so it's something that worries me with my parents. Hopefully you can get something sorted, it's such an upsetting thing to go through.
I've purposefully not spoken to my mum about it because I don't want to worry her or make her feel scared. I don't know how long ago my mum went through menopause, but I'm pretty sure it has been a few years. Surely this couldn't account for the forgetfulness after so long?
I really hate growing up. You see behind the curtains and realise your parents aren't invincible and that they're not perfect. I remember being a kid and thinking my mum was invulnerable. Now she's getting older and more frail and it really eats me up inside.

It sounds more along the lines of Dementia - especially since Dementia can start at any age.
Not much you can do in any case as she'd have to be examined by a trained doctor (there's a risk of false positives if you try it yourself) but the hardest part would be to convince her to get herself tested.
With Alzheimer's, sadly there's no cure. You can slow it down but you can't revert or stop it. Same with Dementia. Once the ball is rolling, it's just a case of hoping that ball doesn't suddenly speed up out of nowhere.
What have I missed?

Since moving to the North of England Irn Bru has been a staple of my diet, now it's sugar free piss water which is terrible mixed with Vodka I want nothing to do with the drink anymore.

I haven't had Irn Bru in years, used to be super addicted to that stuff when I was 12-13, used to buy like 6 cans of that stuff every day for a quid in a corner store.
has it seriously changed that much

Yeah because of the sugar tax I imagine. You may as well get diet at this point.
I think I managed to buy a 4 pack of cans from Co-Op the other day that was pre-piss water. Fizzy drinks are getting so expensive now too, Co-Op has removed the 2 bottles for £2 deal, and everywhere else wants around £1.35+ for a 500ml.

Meanwhile its £1.09 for a 2L bottle of Pepsi on the shelf next to the 500ml drinks.
Loopoo, get yer mum checked out. For the longest time I blamed my memory losses on others and now that I stand at the end of a path of several relationships ruined because I wasn't aware and wasn't willing to face up to the fact my brain got even MORE damaged I really wish I'd gotten checked out sooner. Many people believe that getting diagnosed for something you can live with is just an excuse, but it isn't. The devil you know can be fought much better than the devil you can't.
Put it this way: In Dark Souls, what would you prefer to fight? An enemy you could feasibly run in and batter like a cunt with a lot of gusto but you have no idea about, or an enemy whose attack patterns you know perfectly?

When you turn around your room after waking up in the morning and everything is rearranged in a way you don't remember it being arranged in, and then you realize your memories are still of your 2012 bedroom, which was in a different house, rather than your 2018 bedroom, which you've been living in for two years. Utter utter terror.

That always pisses me off. When I'm on a break at work I often to to Tesco because me and my Dad fancy a Mars Bar. Not only are they smaller now for more money, but he raises an eyebrow when I buy 4 for £1.50 instead of 3 for £1.60.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation, to the point where other extended family were concerned at a family event. My sister and I tried to get something done but my Dad took control and then proceeded to stall until he could kill any thought of actually getting her to speak to someone, largely because there are other valid potential explanations so he's decided it has to be one of those. I know if we did decide to speak to her about it she'd flip out and there's a good chance it'd go nowhere anyway. I really hope things work out better for you, loopoo.

Corner shops still sell Tizer at £1 for 2L.
Last night some guy dressed in all black with his hood up rang our doorbell at 11:30PM and gave my dad a tenner saying "I just found this outside, can you look after it until the person comes to get it, or if not give it to charity?" ...ok?
the path outside the front of our house is totally pitch black too, it's by a river and there's no lights along it so idk why this guy was walking down there at that time. what's also weird is that it had been raining all day and the note was completely dry :v:
it probably has some gypsy curse on it so I'll keep you guys updated if my life turns into Drag me to Hell

Kinda sounds like it was dirty money and he wanted rid of it but I dunno why that would be over just £10
