Everyone I know works like, either in a specialized field that required years of experience and work, or in blue-collar nihilistic shitlabour like I do, yet every pop-culture Info Piece or Life Hack Article I see in regards to Work actually references white-collar middle-level office work that requires no real physical input and is always sleek and cool and everyone talks around the coffee machine. Doesn't this strike anyone else as incredibly peculiar?
Probably cos the people who write those articles have only ever known working in that environment. All their lives can probably be tracked as high school > college > University > intern at fancy media company > employed at fancy company

I suspect lots of these "lifestyle" type people purposefully try to nurture a false image of themselves having some sorta "idealised" life, to help them with their business.
Something like:
"the life you live isn't as good as it could be, look at all this great stuff, if could be yours if you buy/read/consume my product/article/media"
trying to free space on my hard drive, came across this from ages ago from your finest community moderator hezzy

sourdough bread for toasties is the next level

Yeah this one as well.
Everything seems to have the same clean, modern. Aesthetic thing going on. I blame Instagram personally. Aspiration shit, smart appliances you don't need, Tesla's in space, late capitalism etc
Snow is still a novelty to me, although had to ride my motorbike in it on Monday which wasn't so bad, until I opened my visor and copped a snowflake to the eye
i traversed the m90 in the dark with snow lashing down and it was not very much fun
9? Half 7 here, don't cry.
7 here but leaving at half 3-4ish is pretty sweet (gotta nail that sweet OT too)
It actually steams my beans that I've paid for a DVD full of unskippable ads.
Let me just watch my film.
gm lads, anyone got any interesting shit planned for today?

I'm getting my ear wax hoovered out at Specsavers, and then getting a Subway with my free birthday cookie on the way home.
didn't even know vacuuming ear wax was a thing
neither did i and specsavers is the last place i wouldve guessed that did it
Just got back and now I can hear again!

I get terrible build up and it just doesn't seem to come out by itself. Usually I get it blasted out with water at my GP, but that takes ages to get arranged and it can be a pretty unpleasant experience.
Specsavers have just recently started offering the vacuum service. It's not cheap (£30 for one ear, £50 for both) and it's a bit uncomfortable, but I got it booked a only week ago, I didn't have to wait when I got there (in fact I turned up early and the lady was already waiting for me), and it's super satisfying to hear the wax get sucked out.
On a related note, I will no longer be visiting my local Subway. The quality of the service and food has been declining for a while, but today was the last straw. The "Sandwich Artist™" didn't know how to scan the barcode for my free birthday cookie (luckily she gave me one anyway), I was given a bag covered in sauce (I didn't notice until I was halfway home, luckily didn't get any on me), and the meat was borderline stale around the edges (even my cat didn't want to eat it). I know Subway is crappy, and I've always acknowledged that, but they crossed a line today. I'm done.

bit jel tbh - I don't leave the office till 7 most evenings because I get more work done when everyone isn't here.

My local subway is literally awful. They would constantly hire staff and then fire them within a few weeks, so no one could even make the sandwiches properly without them falling apart and losing all the filling.
Because of the treatment of staff, no one was properly sorting the sandwich ingredients. Most of it was out of date, and nothing new would be ordered in to replace it. At one point it randomly closed due to lack of staff turning up, and after a week, a blanket of flies had covered the window, because of just how rotten the food was inside.
Now it opens and closes when it pleases, and is pretty much always empty apart from one dude who watches anime on his tablet in there with no food.
I wish I could get a decent subway again, the thought of southwest sauce is making me hungry!

Thankfully my local subway is 24h so they've got a high turnaround of ingredients. It's also full of stoners, go figure.
rly sad how hit or miss subway is, my nearest one is just pathetically bad. only one guy works there, every time you walk in he's on his phone sitting at one of the tables and then he just looks annoyed at you, walks behind the counter and makes a halfassed sandwich with obviously stale ingredients
if you walk further down the high street you can get a subway with these two friendly indian fellas and it's soo much better. luckily the good one is the one you can get on deliveroo so i just do that these days
fuck i want a subway
Actually quite pleased with my local subway, plus they are directly across the high street from where I work so subway mondays are a thing. Every couple of weeks the manager (if he is out front) will give me a free sub for sorting out their point of sales and database server a few years ago.
I just cant stand the obnoxiously loud groups of stoners that are seemingly hanging about all the time but never actualy getting anything?
I fancy a subway now, dammit guys. I can probably make it before the fridge is delivered but it might be tight.
I've always just preferred a nice bacon butty from the local cafe, must explain why i'm a big fat northern bastard, always thought subway was a bit posh.
If I'm having a fat lazy day:
Toast, buttered.
Those Burger cheese slices.
Bacon
Poached eggs
Second cheese slice on top.
Too good.
Speaking of Subway last week I went to go grab two subs for myself and a co-worker. When I returned and gave it to her, she had like, one tiny bit of chicken on it so she went back and complained for another.
The guy tried to suggest that I had walked out of the shop, open hers up, and eaten all her chicken before giving it to her lmao
had a fucking great day in the uni workshop today, feels really good taking stuff I 3D modelled in CAD software and turning it into a real life object.
I sit through hours of boring theory lectures, but workshop days makes up for it.

That's basically what I have on a Saturday morning. Sausage, bacon and egg sandwich. Eggs poached or fried. Sometimes extend to a full English
I've never tried a Poached Egg in a sandwich before, I imagine it'd be gloriously runny though.
Seriously glad that I haven't actually paid for Amazon Prime and that it's only a trial. Ordered something with "priority delivery" which should have cost something like £16 if I wasn't on prime. It was due today but now I've just got an email saying it will be two more days (so Sunday??). Damn it UPS.
I was also signed up to prime without my consent. Basically clicked no I don't want prime but then it gave it to me anyway and almost charged me for the next month.
Had another one of those driving dreams/nightmares. This time, despite not knowing how to drive, I stole a bus and went down a closed road unknowing it was closed and nearly caused a lot of accidents driving backwards.

Sounds like my drive to work
Went food shopping while rat-arse shitfaced earlier and I made the most measured and healthy shop of my life, because I got this idea into my head that I was only allowed one bag of crap shite and then the rest had to be longer-dated, less-easily-scoffed-in-an-afternoon provisions.

Also, bizarrely, only bought one bottle of booze as opposed to my usual two or three, with the justification "I don't want to be drunk forever." In vino veritas.
aint seen shit in southampton yet, we had some dark ass clouds earlier but that was it
Being sick really fucking kills me with the 23mph winds we had. I should be a Norwegian snowman, but fucking hell, it's actually been cold with the winds
edit - Fucking Turboneger is on at like 8 o'clock in KOKO Cr, I doubt I have time to get up after uni lectures haha
