Every train was just cancelled out of Waterloo and the SWT network, hoping they are up and running tomorrow as I'm not riding 100 miles in this
Okay, bored of snow now.
fingers crossed ima be able to make it camden from southampton tonight [editline]2nd March 2018[/editline] wish me luck lads <3
Deffo man, I’ve been stuck for 2 hours at Highfield waiting for a NX bus that didn’t arrive, hope they help me with the stretch from London to Norwich. Make it home safe <3 Also I’m sorry, you brits are fucking wusses, it’s barely snow and everyone dies, I’m actually shocked it was this bad
Haven't been shopping proper for like a week, and work have me covering shifts over the weekend because they're impressed with my ability to drive in the snow without dying, the bastards. My flat is rapidly becoming this...
Get a knock off fleecy buff, some really shitty cheap £5 ski gloves and drop some dollar on silk liner gloves. Never have cold hands again.
the glove thing is genius. what's a fleecy buff?
Hand washing my car last weekend was a mistake: [t]https://i.imgur.com/Hgls5nj.jpg[/t]
Out of interest - how does your EV handle the cold? Does it suffer from increased battery discharge due to the cold or did they manage to find a way around that?
the glove thing is genius. what's a fleecy buff?
http://www.buffwear.co.uk/buff-adult-headwear/neckwarmer-buff/black-neckwarmer-buff but dont buy a full price one, the cheaper non "buff" branded (<£4) ones you can find on ebay/amazon etc do the same job.
literally just scarves without all the annoying faff of setting them up? i'm sold
Out of interest - how does your EV handle the cold? Newer ones to heat the batteries up though, you'll still get a bit less distance though. But it sure is nice having all the torque, even in my hybrid it manages pretty well in the snow.

Took my bike out to do doughnuts in the private yard it lives at... never doing that again it's terrifying
Shout out to any rough sleepers during Winter's Revenge.
What strikes me as strange is that i've seen no signs of anyone enjoying the snow. No snowmen, no snow boulders, nothing. Save for two dogs on my way back from Tesco who were loving it.
What strikes me as strange is that i've seen no signs of anyone enjoying the snow. No snowmen, no snow boulders, nothing.
What strikes me as strange is that i've seen no signs of anyone enjoying the snow. No snowmen, no snow boulders, nothing. snow in essex is great, we're ankle deep in the stuff and its well formed and solid. kids playing in the street and all. i was really enjoying the snow until our sink and bath got blocked up because of a frozen pipe, now i want it to fuck off
Out of interest - how does your EV handle the cold? Does it suffer from increased battery discharge due to the cold or did they manage to find a way around that?
It uses a lot more power, though I don't think the battery is really leaking any power. In these blizzard like conditions with it being -5 I do see significantly less range though. Heater (heat pump) was sitting at 1.5kW usage, and everything else at about 600w (such as heated mirrors and rear defroster) before moving the car. I didn't attempt to conserve power at all though and still drove at 75 (actual, not indicated) mph and got about 60 miles of range. Maybe driving the same way in warmer conditions I'd get 80 or 90 miles out of it.
The Dailymail are saying we might run out of gas, hopefully thats bullshit.
Give me some milk and clamp a tube to my arse. We'll be fine for a decade.
Honestly, the news this week has been really nice. Emergency services being champs, people bringing food to stranded people and carers going out to deliver medicines and care to elderly people. Nice, heartwarming news for a change.

Edinburgh council haven't really bothered gritting any of the streets near my flat. I was pretty much just walking on ice all the way to the gym these last few days. The red weather warning wasn't as bad as I thought for the city centre though. Apparently some places in the borders were cut off entirely

Got pals in Hawick and Gala and they've been pretty much stranded. No buses or trains. I'm in Paisley and it's been safer to walk on the road lately. Council done a half decent job gritting the main bits of the town center though which I'm near to which is okay. Easy enough to walk to Spoons (although it was closed on Thursday - wanted my damn Curry!)

Saw a lot of cars skidding about trying to drive up a steep hill to get back to their houses at the top.
They were. Got pals in Hawick and Gala and they've been pretty much stranded. No buses or trains.
To be fair, public transport in the Borders is utter trash even when it isn't snowing. You either learn to drive as soon as you turn 17 or prepare to live a pathetic isolated existence. My dad lives in a village outside Hawick but he's in Africa right now so fuck him. :v:
pavements are NOT the council's responsibility - grab a fucking shovel, a big ikea bag for grit and stop whinging. re roads: they didn't do ours cos it's a small culdesac but the roads all around were crystal clear because i'm right next to the sick kids hospital :D
They've got these cute mini tractor snow plough/brushes to do the pavements here [T]https://i.imgur.com/sC0q9cz.jpg[/t]

The highway technically includes the pavement so it is the councils response, its just nuts to expect them to do it.
Supposedly, if you clear pavement but do it badly and someone slips, you are liable whereas if you leave it you aren't.
Debunked so many times the past week, come on.
https://www.gov.uk/clear-snow-road-path-cycleway " It’s unlikely that you’ll be sued or held responsible if someone is injured on a path or pavement if you’ve cleared it carefully." [editline]5th March 2018[/editline] (dont get me wrong, it didnt stop me clearing the pavements, surgery the other day did)
