Some kid just tried to sled down the car park behind my flat, but because the snow is thin and it is concrete underneath, they came flying off and smashed their head on a parked car.
Once you do it, it'll be worth it.
I found out that my blood type can be used to treat people with sickle cell disease. Only 2% of their donors have it.
Why isn't there a French thread? Did Max lead them all to the pemised land and now there's no more french people on FP?
They probably surrendered before they created the thread...
On a less-insulting note (the French are great people!) - I swear I saw one on Old-Punch. It may have not transferred over.
at least you fuckers across the stream actually got snow yesterday, all we fucking got was this shit + about 4 snowflakes

Snow is the devil, I wish we had rain
I work in Waitrose and with our clientele having all 4x4's, it doesn't seem like anything will stop them coming in. Not a single day closed due to the snow 🙄
I can say I'm no longer a fan of hot dogs.
the electroshock therapy worked then?
You say that but once the snow lands you'd be telling it to fuck off like the rest of us.
Seems The Beast from the East 2 : Electric Boogaloo has passed Scotland and any snow from before has gone. Its a good thing sequels are usually shit.
It's absolutely glorious in Dundee, almost chebs oot weather. Shame I've fucked my arm driving, Volvo with bad power steering, it's like trying to shift the earth.
Getting confused by the fact there's 2 UK threads now
There can be only one
Beast the East 2 didn't last very long in the NW. It was pretty wild for about 4 hours, but it hasn't snowed since. It's just hella cold in the mornings, but that isn't new.
This was continued from the old board so this one should stay.
Amazingly it was actually just about bad enough where I am in bucks that come 7:30am when I left for work the snow had turned the roads to sheets of ice so I had to leave the bike again and get a lift. Come the afternoon all of the snow and ice was gone though. Weather really annoying me recently. I had an electric push bike I got to work on for all of 2016 and only lost 1 day to snow but since getting my motorbike about 9 months ago I have lost 2 day to extreme winds and 3 days to snow/thick ice. It would of been even more but there was a couple sketchy days where I went anyway despite the risk and made it ok. If the weather is done fucking with me for a bit that would be great. Thursday and Friday last week was both reasonably warm days too the shift back to winter over the weekend was quite unexpected.
Rest of the week is at least looking like it's going to be fine here. Doesn't even show any rain when I am likely to be on the road so an added plus there as well providing the weather report is accurate.
See, I usually like snow because we don't get it frequently. But when it literally prevents me from turning up to an exam because the council (I'm not actually sure if they're responsible, woops) forgot to grit the roads, I despise it.
So I went to Trafalgar Square today, went to the Waterstones there and bought a book on French grammar. Lord Admiral Nelson himself came alive from his column and spat on me. True story.
Is the whole bread and milk thing just a self fulfilling prophecy because people think 'oh no everyone is going to buy all the bread and milk' so they go and buy all the bread and milk before everyone else does?
It was snowing most of the day yesterday here but none of it was sticking at all and when we went to the shop there were multiple people with a few loaves of bread and multiple 4 pinters in their trolley, I just dont understand what reasonable person would react in that way to a bit of snow...
the waterstones here in southampton burnt down a couple of days ago
its a warzone out there on them Hampshire city streets
also I had to speak infront of 120 people tonight about a short film we made, man my nerves were shakin'. I enjoy it now though, I think I can easily give a lecture/speak infront of a group.
I'm still having no luck at all with getting an IT job and it's killing my soul, I feel like I'm just going in circles no matter what I try
I just make sure that I'm stocked up on ketchup
I know your pain. Been near constantly let down by IT companies for Soft Dev graduate jobs. Graduated last July and been looking ever since...
Last one I applied for was Fujitsu who didn't even look at my CV because a bot didn't like my answers on this pseudo-personality test thing they "required" everyone did (and they couldn't even get that right. The scale was completely unrelated to the questions).
thats fucking wrong having robots gauge whether an applicant is worthy or not
seriously is it that fucking hard to swish through some CV's and get some interviews
Absolutely is. I work for a large British firm and graduate applications alone are in the region of 32,000 per year for 500 odd jobs. It is simply not possible to read all of the applications and with such volume you can afford to be mildly picky, so we filter grad applications with an english/maths online test first. I should imagine Fujitsu has the same volume problem (or worse)
Not since the loss of the Library of Alexandria and the book burning rallies of the Third Reich has there been such a great loss to human knowledge.
Schools always need IT Technicians. In the past three years there have been six different IT techs where I work. I don't know if that says something about our school, or the fact that not many people enjoy working in schools. Still, pay is ok and working hours are pretty sweet if you get a contract for 40 weeks a year.
I have been working as an IT Technician for a small school now for nearly two years. You tend to find that it is common for these types of roles to be term time only (only in when kids are) unless it is a big school. Most schools have one technician and then have a third party support on a low support contract that might come in once a month to help out with anything extra that needs two pairs of hands. It's not always that they are needed but more so because they are a continuous party that knows about all of the systems encase the school IT person leaves. Larger schools like where I did some work previously have 3-4 permanent IT Technicians and have no third party support as they can afford to. In these schools the IT team or at least part of it work all year but tend to get paid more. I have to say straight away though that after working in both environments they are rather different.
It isn't uncommon for school IT Technicians to move on after just a few years as if your on a term time only role the holiday is great but pay is lower and these schools don't tend to have the budget to keep them around. As a result if you look around you will likely see there are often a few schools in your area at any given time hiring. It's a great entry level way to get into working IT. I went to college for a few years studying networking and system and then instead of going to Uni went straight into working as an IT Tech for a school.
I can completely understand why some don't like working in the education environment as budgets are extremely tight and your going to have to work with pushing old equipment to its limits whilst keeping things running as smooth and as fast as possible. It's very different working in a school to working for a business. Got to remember that businesses are profit driven whereas schools aren't. Personally I really like my job and I value my time far more than money so I love the extra holiday. I'm not living paycheck to paycheck either i'm quite happily making some savings.
If your looking to get into IT it's well worth seeing who is hiring in your area and what level of experience they are looking for. You might find that even smaller schools will put that they want applicants with at least a years experience but it never hurts to try. Whilst I was still studying I worked for a larger schools IT department voluntarily so that helped my CV out a bit when it came to looking for work.
My friend used to work as an IT technician in the school we both went to, and he told me that all the year 10/11 girls were fucking terrible for being creepy.
It was a lot of "hair is on point today Zach" or sometimes even just "you look fit today Zach"
unbelievably they got away with it because he's an IT technician and doesn't say anything about it. If I had said anything like that to the teachers at the very same school I would have been fucking crucified.
16 year old girls as a whole need to sort themselves out. I matched with a girl in my village on Tinder whose profile said she was 18, we were talking for a bit and when she dropped she was nearly 16 I scarpered. but that didn't stop her from ringing me constantly on Facebook asking me to meet her, when I replied "i'm at the pub lol" she asked me which one, like babe it's past 9 they won't let you in lmao go revise for your SATs
Its kinda scary the amount of stories I have heard that are like 16 year old girls chatting up guys making themselves out their a lot older then they are, then playing the "he's a paedophile" card when it falls on them.
disgusting to be honest
Hearing all these terrible stories from other technicians and teachers made me join a Union within the first year. I feel very lucky this has never happened to me (and in our school since I've been there) and I hope to God it never does. I've been very lucky where I work as our students don't behave this way - at most all they do is go on their phones, scrawl a bit of graffiti on tables and use the odd fire exit as a shortcut. I'm glad we have such an amazing student support team that keeps that particular behaviour in check.
