It's just simple things like I said. Like saying Hello in a formal and informal setting, saying your name, asking how much something is.
My midterm project using Google translate results only has 19 translations, and 10 of those are numbers. I don't think I'll make my final project that much larger, though I do see a minimum of 40 different translations. I'm really just trying to make it so say, if a tourist needed to catch up on common phrases.
If anyone feels like they're up for it, I'd appreciate a PM.
Nothing is simple in russian language, believe me. I always have hard time translating some phrases if someone asks me.

You can trust google tr. most of the time when translating simple phrases like "hello" or something. Not that someone's gonna check you. You can also count on some sites like this one. I mean, i guess the task is to show a functional program capable to work with databases, not to make a fancy translator.
Also, VB sucks dude :)
Eh, fuck you guys for discouraging him.
Purvisdavid, I'm game, however I must note that I won't be translating every single phrase in existance and I'll be semi-available for the next week. Other than that, hook w/ me up in PM.
You can also send them to me and I'll do my best to translate them.
You can also count on me if you want. PM me what you need translated, I'm mostly free so it shouldn't take long.
I know our countries aren't on the friendliest of terms right now, but are there any current/former Russian military in here?
I'm curious about day-to-day life for you guys, or what initial entry training was like.
Fucking obama spy, get him!
Right, so at my school, I was learning russian for about 2 years, but they decided to cut the classes off since only 10 people were in the russian classes, where can I continue my russian education?
My russian knowledge is shit, and I don't know what website to use.
Regarding to grammar, I can pretty much conjugate ат verbs and that is it.
I probably have around 60 words memorized and some conversation.
Any ideas? Also спасибо за помощь
Well, can't really point on good online resources, for obvious reasons, but i guess any of them will fit, just google them and pick the most popular ones. And you can always count on this topic as well if you need any help.
Honestly, i'm surprised you did have russian classes at all.

Based on what my friends told me it really depends on where you will be serving.
Got into some backwater base in the ass of the world? Welcome to one year of doing a lot of unpayed and meaningless work because 'soldier must be busy' even if it doesn't make sense. Paint grass because it must be green. Move crates around 'just because'. Also you don't get a weapon. You get assigned one to you on paper but you'll never see it. Also hazing but you'll either band up and resist or do nothing.
Or maybe you'll get constant combat drills, long-ass marathon marches and survival training.

Yeah, they do the first stuff to you if you wash out of basic. You're getting sent home, but you're still part of the Army and getting payed as such, so they try to get their money's worth out of you with bullshit work details.
I made damn sure I didn't wash out. Getting roared at and made to do push-ups by a 220 pound, muscle-bound, bat-shit pissed Drill Sergeant may suck, but it's better than dying of boredom.

At least you get payed. Conscription and all that shit have none of that.
Professional contract military in Russia is a whole different beast though.
Depending on your military branch you basically get few more years of the SSDD but with paychecks or training from hell for first year and then colorful fun tour of your life through various hot-spots such as Dagestan.

Welcome to Post Soviet Space. Everyone around here still keep same mentality.
Бля пацаны, я тут только что был в New York Style Steak & Burger что в Tai Kang Lu (Tian Zi Fang), это кстати дочерняя ветка New York Style Pizza.
И просто заказал там Big Boy Burger(sic!)
Состоящий из: 1/2 pound minced angus beef patties seasoned with sea salt & black pepper
cheddar, lettuce, pickles, onion, tomato & russian dressing (хз чё там гусского впрочем)
Боже ж ты мой, это лучший бургер [del]на свете[/del] из тех что мне доводилось пробовать!
Короче если доведется возможность поесть в New York Style ресторане обязательно воспользуйтесь, ТАК ВКУСНО О БОЖЕ ДЕСЯТЬ ИЗ ДЕСЯТИ
