EDIT: Come to think of it, how was Nathan still conscious at the start of Series 2? Surely he must have ran out of oxygen eventually, and he was down there for quite a while.
It's probably a plot hole, but who knows, maybe he doesn't actually need to breathe, or maybe he did die several times down there and just didn't bother to mention it, like he never mentioned the super hoodie [editline]4th December 2010[/editline]
Well then, Nathan would be the ultra let's-all-live-forever product. Cut out his heart, have it for yourself, wait for him to regenerate, hey presto another heart. If people discovered this, they could just hole him up somewhere and continually cut out his heart until everyone was immortal. Pretty grim.
yeah but if the heart is where the power comes from, then once they could out Nathans heart he would be permanently dead, and who ever has his heart would be immortal instead.

I reckon it's fairly safe to say he needs to breathe. And if he did die and come back, there'd still be a lack of oxygen in the casket.
I'm guessing it would be a bit like when Jack was trapped in the coffin in Torchwood, kept coming back to life and immediately suffocating/dying again.
I'm guessing it would be a bit like when Jack was trapped in the coffin in Torchwood, kept coming back to life and immediately suffocating/dying again.
Probably. Although Nathan took time out of his death schedule to have a wank, as you would.
Although Nathan took time out of his death schedule to have a wank, as you would.
Of course.
People forget Claire from Heroes, she had a power like Nathan. If a limb of hers was cut off, it'd grow back. I believe the same would happen for Nathan. I think he has Regeneration and not Immortality, if he had immortality he'd remain concious when the spike went through him etc. It also explains why he doesn't have a gaping hole in his chest.
Probably. Although Nathan took time out of his death schedule to have a wank, as you would.
Auto erotic asphyxiation at it's best. You can wank while you suffocate all day long and not worry about anyone finding you half naked hanging from a roof beam. So he's like wolverine but without the claws as well. Almost forgot immortal means you can't die at all.
I agree that the heart is where the powers come from, but it must do something to the blood. Plus, I reckon Nathan's immortality is sort of Deadpool-esque - i.e. he regenerates over time, can regrow limbs, or if his hand's cut off he could stick it back onto his arm and wait for it to reattach itself. Which means that if you cut Nathan's heart out, Nathan's body would still regenerate, so you could cut it out as many times as you wanted and it'd still grow back. And after you gave the heart to someone else, you could start cutting hearts out of them as well, and so on and so forth until you had a horrifically gory immortal-heart factory.
The heart of the misfits is definately where the powers come from. I don't think that if you cut Nathan's heart out, it would grow back. Say the heart pumped power-blood in to the bloodstream, there could only be so much of it. The blood would run out by the time Nathan had come alive again. [editline]5th December 2010[/editline] thus, no more heart
To be honest, I think we're looking into this too much, let it play out.
Nathan is a fucking amazing character.
To be honest, I think we're looking into this too much, let it play out.
But that's the best part of misfits, trying to solve the mystery yourself and then when you think you're sherlock holmes, it turns out something you never could have thought of happens.
Maybe I shouldn't have bothered with this, but if anyone wants to have a go at making a decent one be my guest: http://memegenerator.net/Gta-Guy
Last episode=Confusing as fuck but funny as ever
Why would you assume the power comes from thier heart? Just because the only example of transfering powers came from a heart transplant doesn't mean thats the only way it could happen.
[sp]He didn't really have a power, other than seeing the world through GTA-vision.[/sp]
I don't care how useless it is, I want that power. It's like having an Xbox IN YOUR MIND.
Why would you assume the power comes from thier heart? Just because the only example of transfering powers came from a heart transplant doesn't mean thats the only way it could happen.
True, could be in the dna or something.
I don't care how useless it is, I want that power. It's like having an Xbox IN YOUR MIND.
Well, it's more like being hypnotised to believe that you're a character in a virtual world who receives random quests from people who aren't real asking you to do things such as steal, murder, torture and commit other crimes. It's possibly the worst power ever, if it can even be called a power.
Exactly, it doesn't make any sense that the heart can hold that kind of biological information better then any other organ. [editline]5th December 2010[/editline]
Well, it's more like being hypnotised to believe that you're a character in a virtual world who receives random quests from people who aren't real asking you to do things such as steal, murder, torture and commit other crimes. He could just be a random run of the mill crazy bloke or even the victim of another person's power.
Cough Alisha cough
We've still got another episode and a third series to elaborate on what the limits of Alisha's power of persuasion actually are. One theory that I've heard is that she's just completely obsessed with sex at this stage of her life, and she can't control how she persuades people, but she may be able to influence people in other ways, persuading them to do whatever she wants - note in the intro that "waves" go towards her, which look very similar to the waves that come from Kelly, except in the other direction. Instead of hearing thoughts, she may be able to implement them, sort of like how the antagonist from the last episode of the first series was able to convince people to do what she wanted. Plus, there's been other advances in the power department - Simon used to only be able to turn invisible if he felt ignored, but he quickly managed to do it at will - Nathan used to only be immortal, but after a while he ended up being able to see the spirits of the recently deceased... And anyway, if it does turn out that Alisha's power is that she makes everyone want to have sex with her, it's proven a good distraction before (when they were beating up their most recent probation worker, she managed to stop him from strangling Nathan by touching him and making him forget what he was doing, and there was also that police officer in the first series that she got sent away by making it look like she was being sexually assaulted by him)
note in the intro that "waves" go towards her, which look very similar to the waves that come from Kelly, except in the other direction.
I was looking carefully at the intro last episode and saw those What could the significance of Nathan having a wolf be?
I was looking carefully at the intro last episode and saw those What could the significance of Nathan having a wolf be?
I think that's a reference to "the boy who cried wolf"

[B]Say the heart pumped power-blood in to the bloodstream, there could only be so much of it. The heart is a pump, blood is made in the bones so the heart can't be the source of their power. If you cut out Nathan's heart it'd probably just regrow. You're thinking about it too much. How does an electrical storm give people powers? How does radiation give Marvel heroes their powers? It just does, don't think too much about it. [editline]6th December 2010[/editline]
I was looking carefully at the intro last episode and saw those What could the significance of Nathan having a wolf be?
It's because his mother's boyfriend acted like a wolf at night. Did you not watch the first season?
It's because his mother's boyfriend acted like a wolf at night. Did you not watch the first season?
Hmm, it just seems like the wolf might have some direct relevance to Nathan, rather than a minor character, who was only really focused on for one episode.
Hmm, it just seems like the wolf might have some direct relevance to Nathan, rather than a minor character, who was only really focused on for one episode.
Could be something to do with the old saying wolf in sheeps clothing seeing as nathan would rather use his power for crime instead of being a superhero.
Could be something to do with the old saying wolf in sheeps clothing seeing as nathan would rather use his power for crime instead of being a superhero.
I see what you mean, but he doesn't really seem evil to me, he usually does the right thing even if it involves a fair bit of hesitation.
How many more episodes left? I always wondering if they will ever explain what caused the storm, but it doesn't seem like they are going that direction.
So, let me get this straight, they've got two episodes to turn Simon in to Superhoodie? I think we're being set up for series 3. Which would be next year. fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff [editline]6th December 2010[/editline]
How many more episodes left? They're probably what gave the misfits their powers, because in the first episode, the black probation worker wasn't struck by lightning where as the misfits were, and he still went all brains up in this bitch.

It's been stated. It's just one of those things.
