I can't think of anyone but Geldoff.
Yeah, me neither. :allears:
I gave another listen to The Final Cut. To be honest I enjoy it a lot more than The Wall. Just like The Wall, there's no Wright unfortunately, but Kamen is an amazing substitute for his work. The thing is that The Final Cut (if I treat it as Roger's solo album) it's just like The Wall but the songwriting is so so so much better and all the songs are well composed at perfect timbre. Another great thing is the emotion put in to it. You can feel it in Water's voice, in each individual instrument, and in the lyrics. It's just awesome
Even if it's a "95%" Roger work, you can tell that he was being true to his word. The Fletcher Memorial had more emotion than anything he sung on Wall.
duuuuude. I've been listening to a lot of King Crimson and Frank Zappa. I really dig them both. Both really trippy
it's a beautiful album... i need to listen to it more.
I saw it for sale on vinyl in a "everything music related" store, but I had no money at the time.
yeah it's on sale for a fiver in my store. should pick that up.
I find driving is just about the best thing you can do while listening to Pink Floyd, because you can really just lose yourself in the music and feel it. Some albums are better for it than others though - Meddle isn't so good; better when you're parked somewhere. DSOTM reigns supreme for the driving aspect for me.

hmmm... I just watched the Gilmour, Wall thing again. this time it was filmed professionally so you can actually see what he's doing. And I've got to say, he seems a bit less "enthusiastic" like he usually is when he did it. I've seen a ton of his live performances and it seems he wasn't doing his usual expressions and rather "working for the sake of it". Oh well, it's sad.
Or maybe he was too busy trying not to look down.
Gilmour has no fear.
Gilmour has no fear.
He's gonna fly high, he's never gonna die! :buddy:
Here's something new: Nick Mason is the most underrated member of Pink Floyd, clearly. I know that all solos, songwriting, vocals, and whatnot are more evident with Waters Gilmour Wright and crew, but Mason really helps you 'feel' the music if you know what I mean. During the whole of Dark Side his drumming just has that driving appeal to it, and in The Final Cut, particularly in Fletcher because there's not a lot of drumwork on that album, it just drives the music and gives it that oomph. Without Mason each solo would probably seem only about 2/3 as good as what it really is

[editline]1st August 2011[/editline] But yes I agree. I've listened to bootlegs and there are some shows where Mason's drum phrases parallel Gilmour's guitar phrases.

I find that really strange seeing as he's the drummer for the most iconic Prog bands of all time yet he cant Prog drum [editline]1st August 2011[/editline]
yeah, he's a talented geezer. truly awesome.
That Fletcher solo... the drums themselves just tell you the emotion of it... it's hard to describe, quite phenominal really
mason's best drumming is on Animals imo.
That's acceptable. After all, drum tracking 17 minute long pieces near perfect is NOT an easy job
well he sounds like he is having fun... so to be honest I give most praise to Mason on that because he didn't lose his ruthless drumming in it. sad that they didn't carry on that style after it.
But that's the charm of Pink Floyd. They change but stay true each album
Mason is very self-deprecating, he's never pretended to know about drums which I find funny Someone asked if he'd be interested in setting up a number of drum clinics once and he said he'd rather let them get taught by someone who knew how to play the drums properly To be honest, mason's drumming is very simple and it works beautifully
yeah he's like the Ringo of Floyd. Plenty of heart.

Don't worry about AK'z, I can no longer see my animals album due to all the semen he's ejected onto it :smug:
