[QUOTE=killerteacup;32124921]Disagree, a lot of the Division Bell was very very creative[/QUOTE]
Maybe, but I don't think as an album it was as worthy as Wish You Were Here.
Sure it's their most listenable since Wall for me. It just lacks good lyrics.

If it was an instrumental album I think it would have been better but that's just me.

TO THE MACCHIIIIIIIIIINEEEEEEEEE
[editline]5th September 2011[/editline]
got to say that's one of the psych-iest songs I've ever heard
Just has that perfect vibe, easily my favourite song by pf

High Hopes had excellent lyrics but I agree, an instrumental album would have been sweet
Also, should out the live version of welcome to the machine from Waters In the Flesh tour, I'll link it

Rocking out, I love it
a while ago I was sitting on my room doing psych homework and listening to DSOTM and my mother came in and was like
"I was listening to the same bands and albums as you, doing homework thirty years ago"
[editline]5th September 2011[/editline]
she dug hawkwind and jefferson airplane
Yeah, dad was the one who introduced me to Pink Floyd
Except when I picked up a copy of Yes's Close to the Edge he was like "Sounds like elevator music, I can't believe I ever liked this, oh wait, I never liked it"
I listened to DSOTM as a 12 year old and was like
"lol this sucks"
then I listened to it again three months ago and was like
"lol this sucks"
then I listened to it about 3 weeks ago and was like
"lol this doesn't suck it just takes a while to get going"
It really is a solid album in pretty much all respects bar the intro to Time which takes, appropriately, a very long time
It was just less heartfelt than WYWH, more general and I can see why it was such a huuuge hit at the time
the older you get, the more you'll enjoy.
I didn't like Beatles at first... was about 11 and then I just got accustomed to the sound.
I think WYWH has more emotion personally
Then again, I really do like Brain Damage and Eclipse, but most of all
MONEEYYYYY
[editline]5th September 2011[/editline]
aw shit you said less
in that case I agree
Any Colour You Like is one of my all time favourite songs
Wish You Were Here is ruthless... not a second of it is drawn out at all.
nope
then they threw have a cigar in there for balls against the wall rock and that went down beautifully
So rocky they couldn't even sing it so they had to get that other guy
exactly
I love that song, can't help but sing along to it. So true too, excellent lyrics
also I really liked the guy who did the vocals for welcome to the machine, a great deal

You're gonna fly high!
You're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try
they're gonna love you

WEW WEW
WYWH is tied with The Wall for my favorite album of PF. Especially since that was the first album I ever heard from them. And I think it was Welcome to the Machine that really got me into them. I mean, I've heard Another Brick on the radio many times before and didn't think much of it. Then I heard this song...the pulsing...the whirring...the hypnotizing synth...so this must be Floyd.
No kidding
How great are the thunderclaps
That got me hooked, the drone-y ambienty thing going on made me pay attention
"This is the sound I was looking for"

I don't think the female backing singers don't fit with the song very well. I like Gilmour and Co.'s live rendition better.

One of the few times Gilmour is seen wearing headphones.

And I think the lyrics were very appropriate for an introductory song to the Floyd.
Welcome to the Machine, indeed.
WYWH's best song = title track :)
Arguable
They're all great in their own ways, more like WYWH is the most accessible
Not really. 12 minute tracks (Shine On) can be overbearing to the casual listener

Not really.
The average Pink Floyd fan enjoys it...
I think that the massive bit on pt1 that it takes to get to the lyrics are excessive, but it's necessary

average pink floyd fan
NOPE.avi
yeah I mis-said that.
But I've played Shine On on different occasions and people enjoyed it. Regardless of whether if they're a fan.
well it's good it's just lengthy
lyrics onwards is better imo

Really awesome version. Great guitarwork by Snowy White, segues perfectly, and most importantly the production... such clarity from that guitar :swoon:

I think En-Guage was referring to the song itself, not the album, being the most accessible song out of the album, which I agree with.

Snowy White plays like a drunken Gilmour.

Roger must have lost his voice here

Then again, he's using tapes on The Wall Live tour so I'm not surprised.
First day of college today, didn't know anyone in my class, then a girl notices my Pink Floyd shirt and starts up a conversation about how great they are. Now I have someone I talk to in class. Thank god for Pink Floyd
Man, I don't care what anyone says, Pink Floyd either in studio, live, or their member's doing solo work, have always had some of the best backup singers. Oh and talking about the "best" album (~~opinions~~) I'd have to say, (imo) Wish You Were Here or Meddle. I love them both too much. Favorite Pink Floyd song is probably Shine On (in full)...That or Echoes. DECISIONS DECISIONS.
edit:
wow I really never did give the Cow album a chance. I'm listening to it now...Jeez, it's really good.
I'd have to say now that I listened to a lot of floyd, my favorite song would have to be a cross between Echoes and San tropez.
Also just found out that my Friends Dad's favorite Floyd song is Echoes.
AHM was a great album, I don't know why the band members all think it was crap
