Pretty clear definition to me.
so concept albums are just "thematic" albums.
There's more to it.
There's more to it.
Elaborate.
Elaborate.
Well it is said that all progressive rock albums are concept albums. It's taken time to look into this and I think there is a point to it.
It isn't so much a "theme" that goes through progressive music, as more a journey of a mindset that changes in direction as it progresses.
An album like Animals or Sgt Peppers are so obviously concept albums because you could sum up their concepts in a sentence. But an album like Close to the Edge or Atom Heart Mother, it's more to talk about than just "a bunch of sounds".

Hmm, I think you are over thinking this a bit much. By this definition, any album is a concept album.
Or am I misinterpreting what you are trying to say?
Akayz is in his souly artsy-fartsy meditation mood again.
It's the rhythms of the universe mannnnnnnn
But yeah, I agree with Akayz to an extent. I don't like it when people limit concept albums to a certain theme or plot.

Mind, Body and Soul.
It was kind of obvious from the beginning.

Not so much "Over" thinking, more just thinking.
It's better for us to define genres ourselves rather than being told what it is by wikipedia.

Stop complaining, the only prog bands that don't get along are the ones who don't submit into the glory.

Just joking. :v:
I still think that particular definition is as clear as day, regardless of whether its from wikipedia or not. That being said, I should add that it is a base definition, because of course concept albums aren't going to be limited by a certain theme or plot (which no one here was doing) and are much more complex.
M83 reminds me a lot of Pink Floyd. Such as the song Wait. Good stuff.
I'm going to start listening to some Pink Floyd. Where should I start?
Dark Side Of The Moon, then The Wall.
I'm going to start listening to some Pink Floyd. Where should I start?
The Dark Side of the Moon
Wish You Were Here
The Wall
Don't forget Animals.
(And don't you dare tell me it's too long for a newcomer to listen to, that's just fucking bullshit.)
Oh, oh, do Meddle too!
Yes, definitely Meddle.
Just listen to everything. Heh.
Just listen to everything. Heh.
Don't have the time, heh.
I'll probably listen to some of their other stuff later after Animal. I'm on The Wall right now.
Just listen to everything. Heh.
It takes months to fully get into Pink Floyd.
Meddle remaster is absolutely fucking incredible, holy shit...
I hear the new remasters are a waste of money and that people should just buy the Oh By The Way boxset.
What do people think?
They are just remasters, so spending a crapload more money on slightly different sounding albums is a waste of money in my opinion.
But honestly, I watched this:

and I think it's a poor attempt to try and "move" them into the modern times.
Original is best but why add things that have nothing to do with the originals when doing this?
