The long and expressive notes and passages he is most known for on the guitar transfers seamlessly to his sax playing.

Meh, when he bends, it seems like he can't quite get there, which is important if you want that 'sound.'
It sounds pretty awesome.
Yes, on its own. But comparing it to the Floyd sound, it just falls flat.
So I watched The Departed again, today. Can anyone tell me the significance of Scorsese's song choice and what Comfortably Numb had to the film? And why did he choose the version with Van Morrison at Berlin, 1990 instead of the original album version?
If theres something you can't replicate, it's the bend on the solo for "Time". Ironically, it is timeless
I posted this like 4 months ago, but I gave a go at that solo. It is truly timeless...
Of course.
listening to obscured by clouds now
listening to obscured by clouds now
It's good, not great.
I didn't think Animals was great either, like everyone else said it was My favourite album by far is still Wish You Were Here
I didn't think Animals was great either, like everyone else said it was My favourite album by far is still Wish You Were Here
Nothing wrong with that. Some people don't like the themes in Animals.
it wasn't bad it just didn't grab me I'll go back to it It seems there's no consistency in the albums, they all sound completely different [editline]12th July 2011[/editline] actually, really liking this album

I like the guitar in the second song
I like the guitar in the second song
Dogs is one of Gilmour's best.
Dogs is one of Gilmour's best.
I personally think it's his best vocal performance, but that's just me. [editline]12th July 2011[/editline]
Obscured by clouds is a fucking fantastic album, its honestly great
It's good, but it's disposable in my opinion. Sorry to seem harsh because I enjoy that album a bit.
I don't care about the themes, but it's still one of my faves
I think it's the only Floyd album that I can listen to where I know exactly what it going to happen next throughout.
I was talking to a guy on the bus about Pink Floyd yesterday (I was wearing my Wall Live t-shirt and he asked me if I'd seen it) He told me that apparently Floyd recorded most of their concerts (even dating back to the Barrett era) as a form of "insurance" for when they could no longer make albums, and that they're all being kept in a big vault at EMI. So we may be seeing a series of Floyd bootlegs very soon. Also the guy I was talking to had been to every Floyd tour since 1977, he was a pretty cool guy.
why did everyone ignore this post This is pretty cool news, if it's true. Official live Floyd is pretty sparse and I'd like to see and hear more.
BOOTLEG SERIES PINK FLOYD. AWESOME. :pcgaming:
It was the first Floyd album to get off the psychedelia and deal with some common themes and it was a great album, and too often overlooked imo
Yeah, I should probably revisit it since I've only heard it twice. I'm not too sure why they took such a leap since they got a lot of praise for Meddle.

I'm not too sure why they took such a leap since they got a lot of praise for Meddle.
Obscured by clouds was recorded in like 3 weeks and it was about 6 weeks before they hit the studio for DSOTM Because it was a sound track it was written for a specific purpose, worked really well. Some of the songs are pretty emotional and written about things you don't really hear Pink Floyd writing about, like Roger writing about his relationship with a groupie, and David Gilmour writing about Time in Childhood's end. In fact childhoods end is really well written for a gilmour song
Cool, you should listen to the live show that inspired them to make Moon though. It is still psychedelic Floyd though, let me check the date it was performed. [editline]12th July 2011[/editline] Woah, really like Childhood's End a lot more than I remember.
Finish the rest of that song damn you :argh:
God I still get goosebumps at the beginning line of Dark Side of The Moon, it's like listening to it the first time every time.
God I still get goosebumps at the beginning line of Dark Side of The Moon, it's like listening to it the first time every time.
They know how to make you feel.
You know there are some songs that used to make me absolutely feel chills down my spine every time I heard them, but I've heard them so many times it loses that effect. Sad. Examples: * Time solo * Great Gig in the Sky * Echoes build-up and speedy guitar part * Careful With That Axe, Eugene screams Not so sure about that last one, it may still have the effect. I have to listen sparingly, though, to prevent that occurring. All still incredibly excellent, though!
Anyone here listened to The Flaming Lip's full-album cover of Dark Side of the Moon? It's pretty good, if you're into your neo-psychedelia. Some of the songs are arranged a bit odd, however, such as Time and Brain Damage. They sound so weak. [editline]12th July 2011[/editline]
