A lot of singers from the 70's were like that though, I think, just very distinctive voices
I honestly think Broken China was one of the best solo albums for any Floyd member, because of the concept it dealt with and the music, which was fantastic. Really direct lyrics which were a lot nicer than those in the Division Bell, some stirring music and the theme itself set around Rick Wright's wife's depression
His range was poor, but the voice was very expressive.
Apparently Rick and Gilmour used to rip into Roger's singing voice a lot back in the day, told him he can't sing for shit and stuff
Well, looks like Roger got his vengeance since he basically destroyed Rick's and Nick's self-confidence in playing music during The Final Cut.
Yeah he got them back when he fired Rick and made session drummers stand in for Nick
"With your fear flowing out behind you
As you claw the thin ice"
I just realized something....
Does that basically mean shitting yourself? :v:
I just listened to Comfortably Numb for the first time in years. Music like it is supposed to be.

What have you been doing for the last few years?

Now you've got that feeling once again...
You can't explain, you could not understand, this is not who you are...
And Yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooou have become Comfortably Numb
On a related note, (of "The Wall") I was listening to Dream Theater's Octavarium, and heard something I hadn't noticed before.
In the "Full Circle" movement of the song, just before the lyrics start ("Sailing on the seven seize the day tripper diem's ready....") you can hear "Isn't this where we came in?" which I'm sure you all know to be from the very start and very end of The Wall.
I really like Water's voice, but it certainly would have been best if he kept is mouth shut on this. The harmony sounds good, but the solo...

Sounds too much like the old man that he is. Although, his tapes on the current tour sound better.
This song is great, but depressing as fuck

Let me clarify why i find it horrifying.
A song about the narrator having a horrific car crash with his wife and daughter in the car while the world ends in a nuclear fucking fireball.
How can you not have nightmares?

On an unrelated note. I am looking for a high-quality full-screen(EG no performers visible infront of the projection) version of the tour animation for Waiting For The Worms. anyone know of one?

Personally, I think "The Final Cut" gets more flak than it deserves from fans. If you just take the album for what it is and don't try to compare it to earlier albums or bring up the Waters/Gilmore split, it really is a fantastic set. My personal favorite off of that album is "Your Possible Pasts", but they're all very melodic.
I actually keep forgetting that the Final Cut is a Pink Floyd album.
I always think that its a Roger Waters album and get slightly confused when people talk about the other band members' contribution amounts.
if Final Cut was a Roger Waters solo album, it still wouldn't be anywhere near his best.
Damn, I keep finding myself listening to The Travel Sequence a lot lately, it's just so good, I wish it was on the original release of DSotM.
its a better track than On the Run, but DSOTM would have been worse if it had replaced On the Run, if that makes any sense.

I get what you're saying, I just wish it could have fit in with the DSotM that we already know and love.
Split The Travel Sequence into two parts, put the first part of at the beginning of On The Run and the second part at the end.
holy shit i get what you guys mean. The Travel Sequence is great.

Travel Sequence is great. But it can't touch any of the actual released stuff. Maybe on a seperate "experimental" release of their work. But that's not happening.
