You got nothing on Texas. Try working at a chain store doing the same exact thing day in and day out, where the temperatures during the summer reach triple digit temperatures.
You have to put it into context, if you live an area where its hot a lot of the time you will be acclimatized to it. If you are used to living in a cold area and its suddenly 30'c you are going to notice it (and more about it) more than someone who lives in an area where its regularly 40'c.
For example, I would find 20'c warm, you would probably think of it as a nice refreshing cool day.
People fail to remember this whenever temperatures are mentioned ANYWHERE on this forum.
Oh no manual labor.
I hate getting them in the snow
also above user I was just listening to the bee gees
Aldi's got the right idea, quarter in to take cart, quarter out once you put it back.
Too bad a quarter means nothing these days.
Only one chain has those? I thought that was sort of the standard everywhere. I don't think I've ever seen a shopping cart without a coin slot.

Exactly. How temperature feels is all relative.
I remember my friend was in a soccer (or football for everyone else) tournament here in South Dakota. He told me some team from California was complaining about how cold it was. It was 50F. For us, that's still fairly warm in the spring especially when 20F is considered a warm day in the winter. Likewise, 100F is pretty fucking hot.
I always push my carts back in the cart area.
Fuck the cart area. I'm pushing my carts back up to the to the store from now on. Or at least the nearest cart area to the door.
I push carts at a Wal-Mart Supercenter. It sucked horribly when I was just starting off but now I am in the best shape of my life, lost 30 pounds and counting and, my fellow cart pushing co-workers are also really good friend's of mine. Only thing I HATE is when people leave food remnants and garbage in carts. I found an entire box of chewed up dog bones in a cart today. There was like, 30 of them. Who takes that around with them? Also, we have a "Cart Manager" machine that pushes the carts while we steer. Wish it worked.

American stores don't use that system? Stores in Finland have had the coin system for as long as I can remember.

Exactly, I've never even heard of shopping carts that didn't have them.
You're Canadian. When nobody came out to help you you could have gone back inside and told the manager you're not going to do it. You were injured, the labour board would have had your back.
Yeah op...

was your store manager inspired by jared?

Exactly, I've never even heard of shopping carts that didn't have them.
Interesting [shopping] culture difference. Very few (if any) over here actually have a system like that.

Doesn't appear so.
As I stated above, Aldi's (A European (German) Company) is the only place I've ever seen them.
I was a Courtesy Clerk at Kroger for a while and then moved up to cashier. I have to say nothing sucks more than pushing carts on 4th of July weekend in the middle of the sweltering, humid Georgian summer day.
When I went to the super-market, I put the cart where it should be put just for this thread.
I put it all the way at the end of the parking lot :woop:
was your store manager inspired by jared?
Well there is a Subway inside... You may be on to something!
Wow. :patriot:
Have fun bringing in 50 carts at one time for that.
Only huge stores use that, if you ran a business would you rather have to hire a second person just for carts or buy a machine to do it faster?
Basically every shopping trolley in Britain has a £1 slot for the coins.

Must be a European thing.

They are all over the place in Australia. Aldi (I know, you mentioned this) uses them. Coles, Woolworths, Drakes, and several other stores also use the locks.
If it makes you feel any better, I always bring my cart back into the store when I'm done :buddy:

Yea... i see a lot of people who are too lazy to bring back they're carts... as a result: lots of carts on the parking lot... it sux
i used to push carts and in retrospect it was really good for me because it helped me get into really good shape :kiddo:
I dragged pallets of shit around all day for two years and gained seven pounds
do shopping cart drifts
You know what sucks? Heathrow luggage carts. 4 rotating castors. Wtf? Who in their right mind thought that was a good idea?
I fucking hate those damn trollys.

I always have to put in 1 euro
safeway don't have mules(a machine helps you push carts) which is a bitches
Must be a European thing.
I think people over here like to steal them, I dunno about the rest of Europe but in the UK most large stores now have systems in place to prevent the trolleys from being able to leave the place they belong.
I dunno quite how it works but if you push them beyond a certain point the wheels lock.
Me and my dad have a rule of who ever isn't driving has to put the cart back

That seems like such overkill when the coin thing works fine
A friend of mine did this job. He got laid off due to worker cutbacks.

Some trolleys actually lock their wheels if you try to push them out of the car park, only seen it once though in Australia.
