I prefer the concept one.
I bet they were probably scared of parental reaction. Thing did look more like a real gun, which is both the reason it was more awesome and the reason parents wouldn't like it as much, probably. Anyways, I went to Wal-Mart today. I just got back about thirty minutes ago, actually. I had went for a Nerf sword, as I needed a prop for reasons I'm not going to go into. I was told they were on sale for $3 and was going to get a few due to the core. Sadly, it was still like $12. Then, since I had money... After reading this thread the past week or so and years of wanting one (Since I was younger and they had first came out, really), I finally got a Maverick. Thing's awesome. A bit annoying to cock it every time, but it's awesome in that way too. Kind of pull a wild west thing with it. Got a pack of darts, too, 'cause I know I'll lose them. SO yeah, plan on painting it some way, probably like that Maverick example earlier if I can. Also, I seem to remember someone saying that it could be easily modded to flip the chamber fully out; anyone have a tutorial for that? Would be really nice.
The newer spartan(not concept) looks like the HK SL8 :O
Looks like a Vulcan and a Longshot had a child. Ugh
Oh damn, it does. That actually looks cool. I don't know, almost look like two completely different guns. Then again, prolly did just change, so whatever. I'm going to wait to see it modded to pass any judgment.
I got the Longshot for my birthday like 2 years ago but who the fuck plays nerf so i just ended up losing everything but the gun and a magazine i miht organize a nerf war if i get a job and get like $100 to buy nerf stuff i dunno [editline]11:24PM[/editline] well i have them they're just somewhere in my room and i have like six darts sooo
Where can I find a more powerful spring for my longstrike? I want it to shoot farther and whatnot. I'm probably going to use the boiling water method for the air restrictor too.

Gotta pad up the end the plunger or whatever it's called though, cause the repeated slamming against plastic with the added power will mess it up pretty good.
I'll keep that in mind. Also, what's the status on the Longshot in Canada?

Dear god that's overkill. Also, what's going to happen to the Recon? I know there's a Maverick-like version of it coming up, or something similar (Specter I think it was), and I'm wondering if it'll get replaced like the Longshot. ...why DID they replace the Longshot with the Longstrike?
As I said before my theory is that they thought the Longshot was too moddable, So they released a nerf'd version.
Why did the longshot get discontinued? I have one, but why did they remove it?
When modded, it shoots hard enough to cause a welt, so they took it out and replaced it with its less strong retarded brother, the longstrike So i guess you could say that they... Nerfed a Nerf gun... YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I hate how the new assault rifle doesn't support barrel extensions.
Looks a little silly now, with the humongous stick mag and awkward stock-grip section. Way to go NERF. Almost did something awesome, and then just fucked it up last minute. There's a chance that extra space could be used for a battery though. Possible our automatic NERF rifle?
I don't see a cocking rod, so, we should cross our fingers
That is a Longshot, and no you can't buy one, it is discontinued
I own the original longshot, smarty :P [editline]07:02PM[/editline] I got the recon today, it kicks fucking ass, except the stock is REALLY flimsy. Its awsome if you have the longshot and you have the extra scope. If you have the right imagination, it makes a good mock grenade launcher xD
Can you still buy the Longshot in canada or is it being phased out there as well?
I own the original longshot, smarty :P [editline]07:02PM[/editline] I got the recon today, it kicks fucking ass, except the stock is REALLY flimsy
I have been wrong before, also, i lost my recon :C On another note, i just got 10 dollars, so my friends longshot is MINE!!!

You use the red light/dot scope as the nade launcher right? And put it right under the barrel :buddy:
You son of a bitch I do that with mine. You use the red light/dot scope as the nade launcher right? I think I'm gonna try it if I get that barrel clip sometime. That with the longshot minus the extension and bipod (mabye the bipod), the recon flip up sight, and the recon barrel extension. Would be awsome :p [editline]07:48PM[/editline] Woot page king
You son of a bitch I do that with mine. You use the red light/dot scope as the nade launcher right? And put it right under the barrel :buddy:
I thought I was the only one who did that oh my god.
God everyone is awosme on this thread xD
people could rob a bank with them!
yea kuz liek airsoft they could be converted to shoot real bullets and that's bad because someone could rob a bank! Ban em! Lololololo!
I don't see a cocking rod, so, we should cross our fingers
It's most likely on the other side.
It's most likely on the other side.
Nope, its not, Nerf CAN'T put it one one side, they cant discriminate between rightys and leftys
What else should I put on my Deploy? I have the recon barrel extension, and I'm going to take off the bipod from the longshot onto my Deploy. I can't paint it or anything so nerf-only parts please.
Nope, its not, Nerf CAN'T put it one one side, they cant discriminate between rightys and leftys
Actually, the longshot's mag release is only on the right side.
Nope, its not, Nerf CAN'T put it one one side, they cant discriminate between rightys and leftys
Since when was this? The longshot was able to have the bolt on both sides because the chamber was visible from the top. Looking at the Spartan picture, the chamber opens up on the right side and it is fairly easy to assume that it doesn't open on the other side, since you can see yellow where the hole should be. So it can already be assumed that the gun itself isn't symmetrical. Then, look at the concept picture of it. Shows the other side of the weapon, but with a bolt. Even in the concept, you can tell the chamber is visible from the right side because there is no mechanism to expose it on top, and there has to be an opening in order to fix jams and such. I just highly doubt they made it electric. The Vulcan is electric and takes a million hugeass batteries to power. The Spartan is nowhere near as large as the Vulcan and I doubt they made a mechanism powerful and small enough to pull a plunger back.
It takes a million hugeass batteries because the batteries they're utilizing are fucking retarded. They're 20x larger than they need to be. You saw that Vulcan ROF enhancement video. They rewired it to Tamiya and used an airsoft/RC battery and not only did it shoot faster but it was that much smaller, about the length of your hand and half the width.
Holy cocks, I have a longshot and knew they had been producing new guns, but I didn't know they weren't shit anymore! Might have to buy a few of these for indoor fights with friends for shits and giggles :v:
