NERF Thread; AKA "Back in 'nam... Darts everywhere"

Man, i wish they had nerf fights at english colleges like the americans. that would rule.
It's the same exact thing. The cocking mechanism is the same, I have no doubt the spring system is the same, and it probably rotates the cylinder when you pull the trigger the same.
Are you that dense? It's a freakin' Maverick, look at it dude. Take off the barrel extension and the stock and you'll see that it's a slightly cosmetically modified Maverick. If you spend money on that thing and you already have a Maverick, you'll be a perfect example of the people that fall for that "release something, then re-release a rehashed version of it in the future when everyone's forgotten about the original" trick that Apple and other companies use. Gotta be smarter than that.
I hope you realize all NERF guns have one of two plunger mechanisms to fire the dart. That means that if you own any guns, chances are they all have the same cocking mechanism and plunger mechanism.
If we go by the same logic, then the longshot, longstrike, and deploy are all knockoffs of the recon because they use the clip system, which all uses the same firing/cocking mechanism. All of these guns use the same ammunition too, as opposed to this new one firing a different ammotype than the maverick.
Also the firefly uses the exact same cylinder as the maverick but you have't complained about that (no joke, it is literally the same part, only transparent, meaning it uses the same barrel rotation mechanism and therefore firing/cocking mechanisms too) You can't complain about reused systems in NERF guns because in-reality, there are only two (or three if you seperate cylinders as its own section).
Again, nice try bro.
I just bought a deploy and it is kickass.
He means what the gun looks like, how it's a revolver, how the revolver system is the same, and where it is you cock the gun. Seriously man. Just fucking look at it. It's a maverick with a stock and barrel extension.
Use that brain of yours.

The only thing the spectre and the maverick have in common is the cylinder (which is actually a different model entirely, unlike the firefly, as I pointed out, used the exact same piece). If anything, it's more closely related to the recon:

In-fact, it uses the exact same grip, and the slide is different from the maverick, but in the same location. AGAIN, it fires a completely different dart than the maverick, utilizes the recon barrel extension piece (and that suppressor looking thing which looks badass even though it's useless, and a new side-folding stock (much like the AKS or G36). I don't understand why you two are calling them out for reusing a design principle (that was only used once before) that works, and works very well. While it shares vague design similarities, it still is not a maverick, the same as a Colt Python is not a S&W, or a Beretta M9 is not a Walther P229, and if you "used that brain of yours", you'd see that as well.
It's a maverick in my eyes. May have a different grip and slightly different body, but it's still a pistol revolver just with a stock and barrel extension.

They're in the same class of weapons, they are not the same weapon. That's just ignorant.
In the world of NERF, they are in fact the same weapon, considering they all shoot darts and can all shoot them with roughly the same distance and power. It's a Maverick with a stock and barrel extension, seeing as it's roughly the same size and has a revolving cylinder.
There are no "weapon classes" in NERF, there are in terms of real guns, but last time I brought real guns into this thread it didn't mix well (even though they are NOT called clips).

I pointed out "weapon classes" in the OP, but you're right about that first part. I pointed out earlier that there are only 2 firing mechanisms in NERF guns, making them all essentially the same gun. However, there are "weapon classes". You've got your LMG, the Vulcan. Rifles, Longstrike and Longshot. Pistols like the element and nitefinder. Carbines like the recon. SMG's like the magstrike. Shotguns like the Hornet. Rocket Launcher, the Titan.
Simply because the maverick and the spectre are both revolvers doesn't make them the same gun (however the nitefinder and the element are almost literally the same gun, the element being the updated version).
Alright guys, this arguing is ruining the thread, i would like it to stop, lets just all agree that the longstrike will never be as good as the longshot.
The back block of the spectre's stock needs to be longer, that way your could use it as a forward grip when folded
I call dibs on the new thread.

On page 23? What are you retarded?

Agreed. Reverse-plunger system blows.

Start one up, you'll be famous(ish) amongst the upcoming wave of NERF fights.
Or look like a total fool, but everything in life's a gamble.
one of the lectures in my college (uk) had a nitefinder, used it to shot sleeping classmates
also do like the look of the spectre

Oh goddamn, a holographic sight?
Actually closer to a reflex sight.
Not that it really matters?
Not that it really matters?
to some yes to others no
but it dose look good
It's a different version of the Spartan. I hope they go back to the normal Spartan though, that one looks stupid. Especially with the uberlong mag.
I like that design, but I'd say the normal is better.
Does the SPECTRE's cylinder flip out like the Maverick, or like the sniper rifle in Borderlands?
Looks like it flips out like the Maverick. I may be wrong, as I've never owned a nerf gun before, but I'd like to get one sometime. They look pretty awesome :D

I know, hehe. Hope itll come out in the US and the UK, Im drooling already!
Actually closer to a reflex sight.
Holographic sights are reflex sights. A reflex sight is any sight that projects a reticle. Holographic sights are just another method of creating a reflex sight. Stop getting your weapon knowledge from MW2.

I'm thinking of buying more guns so that myself and my younger nieces, nephews and cousins can have some shoot outs. I was thinking of just buy a bunch of cheap Nite-Finders for 5 USD from the local Wal-Mart. What do you guys think?

The nite finder/element are pretty good guns, but you can drastically improve their power and range if you simply use those black and orange darts that the vulcan uses.
About 1/2 inch.
I own the Maverick, Raven, Longshot, Firefly, Raider, and a couple Nightfinders.
Raider is my favorite one so far.
What would be best as a barrel? PVC or brass?
[editline]03:04PM[/editline]
I've got a bunch of strong springs, some brass pipes, a thing from a soap dispenser that could be used as a bolt and a box I can store shells in. I'm gonna try making a singleshot sniper rifle. :eng101:
I'd say brass because I'm assuming it is smoother than PVC, which should slow down the dart less as it travels down it.
I have 2 Mavericks, I want to mod one but I don't have lots of money to buy fancy modding equipment. What is a good idea (apart from separating the chamber so it goes out 90% like a real revolver)?
