I don't think it would be hard to make an airsoft gun fire nerf darts, inside a nerf gun body...
Actually it would be. Airsoft gearboxes are designed to push tiny BB's. NERF internals are designed to push larger NERF darts, and have much larger plungers. You can't just superimpose a gearbox, you'd need to build your own.
some one should find a small AEG airsoft and then try and put the gearbox into a nerf gun to make it a semi auto- full auto nerf gun ( but only problem is finding a smallenough gear box, or build one yourself )
Dude airsoft gearboxes are fucking tiny.
Dude airsoft gearboxes are fucking tiny.
Exactly, they don't have the power to push a NERF dart.
Dude airsoft gearboxes are fucking tiny.
even so i dont think you could fit one fully inside a recon with out modifying it
even so i dont think you could fit one fully inside a recon with out modifying it
Without modifying the Recon? Of course not. Without modding the airsoft box? Of course.
Exactly, they don't have the power to push a NERF dart.
ahahahaha are you fucking kidding me? [editline]08:12PM[/editline] are you telling me that a gun that shoots small plastic hard enough to do this: can't shoot something like this? Get real.
Nerf darts have way more mass than a BB. They also cause more drag so they don't fly as quickly through the air. You could probably shoot a spitball pretty fast and hard (I know I can), but you wouldn't be able to come close to meeting that distance and speed if you tried shooting a pencil by blowing it out of a tube.
Airsoft guns are known to shoot over 300 feet. Your nerf gun modded couldn't hit 100 feet accurate. Most guns during games shoot the max of 500-550 with .25g Airsoft gearbox's arn't small either http://ontargetairsoft.com/store/images/G608V3GearboxMotor.jpg
ahahahaha are you fucking kidding me? Get real.
1. The airsoft gun in question is automatic. 2. It shoots hollow plastic bbs. 3. It has a tiny automatic gearbox. The ones from that picture most like is spring powered, shoots metal bb's and can only shoot one bb at a time.
Airsoft gearbox's arn't small either
My AEG doesn't have anything in the handle... No question you could fit the parts inside, but making it fire nerf darts would be harder. I don't think the spring has enough power to shoot a CS gun. You'd have to make it at least semi automatic.
Blackwolf you don't know much about airsoft stop talking. Your clearsoft gun has nothing in the handle because it's a crappy walmart gun, and last I checked even THOSE had motors. Airsoft gearboxes (not shitsoft) at 400 fps propel .20g BBs at a bit over 1 joule. You go find what a modded nerf gun shoots in joules. It's pitiful, something like .3 joules. Those injuries were inflicted with airsoft guns shooting at the correct velocity, with the correct weighted BBs, at questionable distances (the welts are probably CQB, so I'd guess 10-15 feet, broken teeth is possible at most distances). [editline]03:50PM[/editline] There's no difference in power shooting automatic vs semi-automatic with an airsoft gun...
1. The airsoft gun in question is automatic. 2. It shoots hollow plastic bbs. 3. It has a tiny automatic gearbox. The ones from that picture most like is spring powered, shoots metal bb's and can only shoot one bb at a time.
1. X fps in automatic is the same as X fps in semi auto. 2. If by 'hollow' you mean with an extremely small air pocket taking up MAYBE 1/10 of it's volume, then yes. 3. See 1. mbbird has the most valid argument. Science below: A 400 FPS (with .20 gram BBs) shoots at about 1.5 joules. I don't know as much about Nerf guns, but from my google search, it says that a stock nerf gun may fire at something like 25-30 fps. Another google search weighs the nerf dart at 1 ounce (~28 grams). This translates to 0.8 joules - 1.2 joules. So, a stock airsoft gun would be able to fire a nerf dart (with modification) harder than a stock nerf gun. Obviously, both could be upgraded heavily, increasing joule power. Also obviously, there's a shitload of science that all of us are leaving out, so no matter what conclusion we reach, we'll either be wrong, or right for all the wrong reasons.
First off, the idea of modifying an AEG to fire nerf darts in a nerf casing would be complety irrelevant if it required using parts from an expensive air soft gun. The idea was to use something relatively household/easy to get. As in, It could be a common mod, once instructions are up. You would the AEG's internals to fit inside of one of the pre existing Nerf guns. I don't know if I said that it was possible. I did say you could fit the AEG parts inside of a nerf gun. If ANYTHING you could easily make a Nerf shoot airsoft bb's using airsoft parts :P It would have to have to either use a modified plunger, or it could use the same air tube (I don't know the name of it, the part that actually touches the bb) as long is came in direct contact with the whole at the end of the dart It would also have to have a way of cycling darts. BB's are round, and so it's easy to slide them into place only using the spring in the magazine/clip. A nerf dart would have to be slid out of the magazine into a separate position. The pressure from the mag/clip spring pushing the dart against the plastic above/around it would probably be enough to slow the dart down significantly, if not completely. This discussion started about making a nerf gun shoot darts "automatically" aside from the Vulcan.

Sure its not automatic, but it beats the hell out of having to pump something, in my mind.

An airsoft gearbox motor may have enough "power" (my quote up there was vague) to push the NERF dart, but the gearbox itself would have to be heavily modified to a point where it's just unreasonable to try and superimpose it inside the NERF gun, but I'm no physics major or technical engineer so I could be incorrect.

You basically eliminate the idea of an inner barrel at all, and instead just have a chamber and a "barrel" which is in reality far too large and never comes in contact with the dart. The point is, an airsoft gearbox has the potential to propel a NERF dart. How far? None of us really know, unless someone wants to do the complex math involved. The stupid part about this arguement is there is absolutely no reason to convert an airsoft gearbox to fire NERF darts, there's no point. I imagine there'd be so much work involved that you mine as well either construct your own gearbox either based on an airsoft mechbox or the Vulcan (I personally don't know what it looks like inside the vulcan).

I'll use my broken maverick and try to accomplish this, but I agree with you; There's really no point in the first place.
I have a spare airsoft gearbox and parts lying around. I'll use my broken maverick and try to accomplish this, but I agree with you; There's really no point in the first place.
Some guy on youtube made an air compressed version of a maverick. If you could get this to work, the fast rate of fire and may make up for the lack of ammo and distance. You could possible invent the most successful NERF 'sidearm' ever. Imagine you're in a nerf war where all the guns have a limited rate of fire.. You get ambushed and you run out of ammo. Pull out your auto-maverick and fire of 6 shots in a few seconds and he's down.
Nerf Science!
I took apart my shitty AEG and put a nerf dart on the tip of the internal barrel. I was better off throwing the dart.
Target is having a nerf sale. 9 dollars off the raider and 2 dollars off the recon and deploy
Okay, i just tried shooting a nerf dart out of the barrel of my A&K dragunov. the bb shooting into the hollow bullet and pushing it out, propelled it, maybe 5ft. why are people acting as if airsoft is the only option? compressed gas nerf guns? putting it in your mouth and spitting it out?
putting it in your mouth and spitting it out?
I do this, actually.
dude the new weapons they got are insane! good post OP

And you must have a deep throat to shoot nerf darts automatically.
any one got a paint ball gun and want to try shooting a nerf out of there? ( see if gas would work better than airsoft aeg's )
Someone please explain how this thread can be so popular, but not have ANY posts Well it has some, but it's very inconsistent and SLOW
My friends and I were gonna get NERF guns, but they wanted Airsoft.
