Hasbro is just retarded and afraid kids won't be able to pronounce the word "magazine" or otherwise make fun of it "hurr durr magazine you gonna read it or put NERF boolets in it?"
My 8 year old cousin basically had that reaction when I politely (not "haha ur dum it's a mgasine not a clip fgt") told him, so Hasbro is probably right if that's their thinking but it's still incorrect, and we're not 8 year olds so how bout we get it right.

I just emailed their support center telling them they're teaching our children false linguistics.
Holy titty-fucking Christ. Shut down every-god-damned-thing. Someone used CLIP in place of MAGAZINE! Its the fucking apocalypse! Everyone hide! Run for the hills!
Or maybe, just maybe, after so much use and mixed terminology, the terms have become, get this, INTERCHANGEABLE. Really, at this point, a clip and a magazine are the same damned thing. Get the fuck over it.
That Stonewall Nerf Shield is on Amazon. Although it's extremely small, probably expected since it's made for 10 year olds.

You can make a good Nerf shield out of just about any decent size, rectangular material. Poster Board, Cardboard, pretty much anything.
I don't use nerf shields, I have a piece of wood duct taped to a PCP pipe if I honestly need one I keep on my back during wars. Also my team color is going from orange to black because I'm out of orange duct tape and the old duct tape is finally wearing out.

I don't don't care that much, but we would prefer to see people say magazine. Did you see anyone spazzing out raging about how someone said clip, the reverse of what you just posted?
Is it so hard to just say mag or magazine? I'm sure if this were an argument and we weren't mature posters you'd throw back the same thing, but clip is plain incorrect. The majority don't register that.
It's a pet peeve, it shouldn't be a bother, but it is.

something does not become interchangeable until the other thing is eradicated. there is a clear difference between a magazine and clip
My Buzz Bee ammo doesn't fit in my new Maverick. Oh well.

Way to rage, but no, they are not interchangeable. A hubcap is not a tire, and a sewing needle is not a syringe. A pencil is not a marker, a shark is not a whale, a sedan is not a minivan, a flash drive is not a hard drive. They have different functions, therefore they have different words, regardless of similarity or correlated usage.

People also understand that there is a very notable difference between those, unlike a clip and a magazine which have very similar function and their distinctions are almost unknown. Those also have never been used for each other before. Get the fuck over it. The word lost its original meaning and has adopted a new one. Holy fuck, its so fucking scary. No normal person gives a fuck if a clip isn't a magazine. Its easier and faster to say clip than magazine or even mag. So just shut the hell up and let people call it a fucking clip.

No it hasn't and you have to be extremely arrogant to think that because mainstream society refers to it as so (using the term "mainstream society" loosely because even that hardly makes sense), that it automatically overrides the definition of the word. The analogies I made were accurate in that they all have the distinction that they both operate very similarly, but are not the same thing. There is a distinct difference between a stripper clip and a magazine, both visually and functionally. The clip loads the magazine. Again, it's like calling the fuel tank in your car a gas pump. The gas pump fills the gas tank, the gas tank holds the gas.
If people refer to magazines as clips, then what do we call "clips"? Well you can't call them "clips" because they do something fucking different, they're hardly related. Even the functions are completely different: The clip loads the magazine, the magazine services the ammunition ready to be fired. It's not like getting confused between a cup and a mug, which both serve the same function, it's the difference between a foot and a hand. They are different words, with different meanings, and different functions.
Finally, the word has NEVER "lost it's original meaning", you have to be really fucking stupid to believe that. Military men, gun enthusiasts, and just generally anyone who knows the difference refer to it correctly. It's not a dead word, it's not fucking Latin. The remainder of your argument about being "easier" is just flat-out thoughtless bullshit. Mag has less letters and only one syllable, making it easier to say or type than "clip" (really, there's no difference in difficulty between "mag", "magazine", or "clip" unless you have had a stroke or something).
Using your retarded logic, the entirety of the rim, tire and axis on a car is just "a tire", because I hear people say that too, or calling the exhaust pipe a "muffler", or saying equally stupid shit (I'm not even a car guy and I know this, come on). It doesn't make it correct because everyone's misinformed.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Still, it's just a toy. It's not like it's something seriously aimed at firearm enthusiasts.
I don't care what Hasbro calls them, around these parts, we don't cock around. Magazines.
Yes, but it's their product. You can call it whatever you want, but if they call it a clip then they call it a clip. It's not right, but they still have the right to name their stuff whatever they want.
[editline]09:10PM[/editline]
Think of it this way. You call it a magazine because you are interested in firearms, but some people are interested in the NERF "blasters" so they say the way that's correct to their experience. I mean, it's the nerf thread, so this is pretty much the ONLY acceptance to the rule.
Okay, I'll go get some caulk, put it in a tube, and market it as toothpaste. They sure have the ability to name and rename their products, but it's still not a clip.

A nerf blaster isn't a firearm.
It's still a magazine.
What makes it a magazine? Because it looks like one?
Everything about it acts exactly the same as a real firearm's magazine, that's how. Maybe it isn't a magazine, but it's a NERF magazine, if you want to play like that.
A nerf blaster isn't a firearm.
By that logic, airsoft magazines aren't magazines because airsoft guns aren't actual firearms.

Exactly.
The Deploy was based off a real gun.

But it's NERF's product. They created it. It didn't exist before, and now it does. It's their name. I'm pretty sure they called a clip because:
1. Even with all these realistic features, they need to keep separate from real guns. I mean, these ARE kids toys.
2. To avoid this debate. It's a clip because they called it that. If someone calls it a clip they are correct, but only because hasbro new kids would call it a clip.
I mean, the barrel break is a sawed off shotgun, but those aren't very kid appropriate. So they called it something else.
realistic features
my ass

They are called whatever the airsoft name is. Not what the firearm name is.

We're going to call it whatever we want, and in this case, a magazine. :colbert:
