Everyone on my floor in dorms went out and bought nerfs and have wars every so often. Except me, because I'm a poorstudentfag.
But I can vouch for this model's usefulness, sure it doesn't have much ammo capacity, but it can actually hit things.

Also, you guys seem to know this shit. One of my buddies kind of got gypped in the setup, he bought a clear "Deploy CS-6" SpecOps Assault SMG (it looks exactly like that picture), but it's consumed three of his darts already, and the thing cost 35 bucks (dammit edmonton, I know you get tourists but come on). Is there a way I can "modify" and make his kick more ass then even the guy with the drum mag?

Capacity cannot be increased due to the designs of Nerf guns. A pretty hardcore option is to replace the spring with a larger one, meaning it slams forward faster, shooting the dart further. Springs that are suitable, at least for me, have been hard to come by. Another option is to use a different barrel. This barrel could be brass or just a pvc tube of a correct size, but Im not sure if this can be performed on the deploy.
If you want something to practice modding, go buy a few nitefinders, cheap enough that they can break. Correctly modded nitefinders shoot pretty damn far( only air restrictor removal)
So I've been up all night playing with my new Recon and Mavericks and I gotta say, I LOVE THEM! I especially like taking the barrel off the Recon but leaving the stock. It gives me a compact gun that's pretty accurate. I think I should get either a Raider or an Alpha Trooper, which do you guys suggest?

Just like to point out that black and gold are the two most overused and two most bland paintjobs.
I tried to give my recon a Borderlands style paintjob.
It worked , but I somehow lost it.
I was thinking, and maybe I can paint the Recon white with black and blue highlights. Like the Mass Effect pistols, because without the barrel and stock, it looks a little like one.

Now maybe I'm being silly, but I think the buzzbee model actually looks better than the barrel break (plus it has the shells, and I am a sucker for details like that). Thoughts?

From what I hear the shells aren't good for performance. Plus, you have to keep track of them.
It does seem like a nice detail, but it also sounds like a major inconvenience.
Just to point out if you're interested in a buzzbee double shot, it only comes with four shells and six foam darts, which are great if you've got eyes in the back of your head. If not, it's very common for the shells to be ejected and fly halfway across the room, landing in awkward places or getting lost. Another major problem with the buzzbee is that the shoulder stock doesn't fit into the shoulder well, as the compartment used for storing darts is rounded, making it slip under your armpit if you pull it against you, though this issue probably isn't that bad as there isn't much point in bringing it up to your shoulder to fire.

A big deal breaker for me is if losing one part like that would make the gun useless. Not sure if I've seen spare shells available either.
Okay, so I was looking at Nerf Haven and tried to register, but they don't accept GMail addresses(???) so I'll ask here. You know the shitty "red dot" sight thing that comes with the Recon? Yeah, that thing. I saw some mods on Nerf Haven that had you completely replace the internals, but I think that is a lot of work when you can simply add a resistor and 3v LED to the current internals. Should I try this? It's not like I'm losing much if it doesn't work.

I got the bandoleer kit for only 2 dollars more than that, and that came with two magazines and more than enough CS darts to fill both.
I remember seeing a super simple mod somewhere that stopped the shells from flying out. It was something as simple as like, putting tape on them? Either way, if I were to purchase a buzzbee, it'd be the first gun I heavily mod. As in removing the stock, opening up the cocking mechanism, sawing that shit off. Oh and for anyone who cares, cutting the ammo holders off a nitefinder makes it look SWEET
So it turns out it's really easy to allow the cylinders in the Maverick to swing all the way out. Now both of mine suck a lot less.

Got the air restricters out. Damned thing is insanely powerful and loud now. Should I do any reinforcing to it or is it just too small to hurt itself?
Okay, so I got an Alpha Trooper. It's really cool. I just love the feel of it. I think I am going to paint it charcoal matte black for the frame and a silver for the barrel and other moving parts.
