Not a bad guide at all, thanks, but at one or two points it still makes the assumption that I know anything at all about the internals. Even some MSpaint arrows pointing to the relevant bits would be awesome.. Anyway, I'm still deciding if I should go through with modifying the gun, since I hear it might decrease accuracy when using stock darts. Anybody know from experience?
Stock streamlines (the kind of dart the Longshot uses) are notoriously inaccurate. The best way to fight that is to manufacture your own darts- Stefans. These are easy and cheap to make and are worth the performance increase in terms of accuracy
[editline]21st February 2011[/editline]
Also, once you get into the internals yourself it becomes easier to understand what someone else has done

It will decrease the accuracy of stock darts, but it's well worth it in my opinion. The range on my LS was so much better after I modded it, though I added a spring in addition to removing air restrictors. By the way, if you do add a spring, don't forget to reinforce the bolt sled or else it'll snap. I reinforced mine by gluing in some segments of metal coat hanger.

I realize this, but honestly the way me and my friends play we tend to lose/exchange darts quite a bit, so Stefans aren't really a viable option for us.

I realize the increase in range is significant, but if I'm only using streamlines is it worth the drop in accuracy? Also, do you still recommend reinforcing if I'm only removing the air restrictor (no spring modification), or is simply padding the thingamabob enough?

If you are only removing the AR's then you don't need to reinforce the boltsled unless you get a stronger spring. But it would behoove you to add the padding to the plunger for the sake of longevity of the blaster
[editline]24th February 2011[/editline]
and removing the AR's is worth it anyway even if you are only using stock darts. It should be the first thing you do when you get a new blaster
Went to a birthday party yesterday, here's where we played:

We pretty much had Orange versus green team since not a lot of people were there, I was orange team captain. First we had a team deathmatch then we had CTF, I'll use the same map for both because they used the same general setup:

Then we played a game called Bounty Hunter where everyone had to hide from the bounty hunter, everyone who wasn't the bounty hunter could go on their own and get pistols and/or a recon or join the bandits and get the heavier stuff but at the cost of having to work in a team.

Then we just played a short game that's similar to HvZ, we eventually ended up falling back to the garage that the bandits forgot to take their weapons stockpile out of.

I was the second to last human, I was guarding the door when the 2 zombies charged us.
The hit-rules were pretty simple:
2 shots in a limb, you're dead.
3 shots in the torso, you're dead.
1 shot in the head, you're dead.
You could only headshot the bounty hunter, and you could only headshot zombies.
When you die you have to go back to the spot you were in when the game started.

Why does it take more shots in the chest than limbs to kill?
Why does it take more shots in the chest than limbs to kill?
I don't know the guy who was hosting the party thought that up and it made sense at the time so we all agreed to it.
Which two $20 Nerf guns should I get next? I've already got the Hornet, Alpha Trooper, Raider, and Longstrike.
What guns are you talking about? The Recon and the Deploy?
Recon has a nice pistol. Avoid the Deploy, it's a nightmare to remove the AR. The only Buzzbee gun I would get would be the Double barrel shotgun. When you put in PVC, or remove the back of a shell and glue it in, the Doubleshot is much faster at reloading that the Nerf Barrel Break.

Sawed of DoubleShot makes a nice "sidearm" style weapon. Its small enough to put in a pocket so it acts as a holster and doesnt get in the way.

I just got a Nerf Reflex pistol. Despite it's small size, it can get some good range right out of the box. Got it from kmart for $6.
At my school today we're simulating trench warfare with nerf guns.

simulate world war 1 with nerf guns
stay in trench for weeks, little food left. enemies heard in the distance. you fire a dart but a shell hits you and your entire platoon is wiped out

The enemy launches stink bombs into your trench. You and your men die from chemical warfare.
The teacher commented that he should've gone to petco and released around 100 rats during our mock war.
Tons of the newer N-Force guns were seen. One of my classmates had one of those rare(?) break barrel nerf guns. The shotgun which was cocked by pulling the string within it.
that's a buzzbee gun i think
double shot

Not if you have a handkerchief.
Nerf Story Time!
I was at Humans VS Zombies the other day, we were playing all around the local university, 109 players. Me and my squad were holding out on a ziggurat (flat-topped pyramid) with benches all around it. We had a pile of spare ammo in the middle for people to grab, and our captain had left his Buzz Bee Double Barrel there while he went out on a mission. After some time, the zombies surrounded us, and all charged at once. My section of the line was broken, and a zombie charged, tripped, and fell right beside me. Unfortunately I tripped as well, and ended up lying on the pyramid's slope edge a few feet away. I pointed my Longshot at him and it jammed, so I was pretty sure I was fucked. At the last second, though, my flailing hand caught the Double Barrel, which I raised and shot the zombie in the face with. When my captain returned from his mission, I stuck it in his hand and thanked him for being so careless with his stuff.

That's the most badass story involving fake firearms I've ever heard.
Can someone link me rules to Humans Vs Zombies for Nerf guns? I want to organize one in my school or something.

I was pretty proud of myself. Rammaster, it varies, but just go to the official HvZ website for all the information you'll ever need.

Yeah I've been reading the HvZ site and it looks fucking intense. I really want to organize one in my high school but I fear high schooler's maturity levels aren't high enough to handle such a fun game and will probably ruin it.

There was a game here at UC Davis a month ago. Wish I had taken part in it, for some odd reason I thought that it wouldn't be very popular.
How very, very wrong I was. I am definitely doing it next year.
My house has basically become the NERF hub of my school AND some of a nearby university; we have at least 12 people who come over regularly to play, and my house is becoming the storage place for guns.
3 Longshots, 2 LFGs
1 Stampede
3 18-round clips, 7 6-round clips, shield attachment, grip/bipod, 3 scopes
And, as of tomorrow,
1 Buzz Bee Clip Blaster
1 Buzz Bee Hunter
1 Raider
1 Longshot + LFG
1 Spectre
And maybe more.
Plus all associated attachments.
Heh, shooting small children wielding NERF guns with Airsoft AEGs is always fun.
