$70 canadian then add on day one dlc that includes a monster and skins hahahhaha ahah no thanks man, I'd rather shoot myself in the foot
Being fair, the Day 1 DLC isn't Day 1 DLC at all, and it's in fact just a thinly veiled season pass that extends purely to a monster that's not coming out for a little while I mean like as much as I love the game and enjoy my purchase, I can agree with some of the points that 2K definitely made some hella dodgy calls with the business scheme, but you gotta pick the right fights with it cause that's just not really the right one to make [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] I think the game's absolutely a buy marked down if you're like die-hard trusting in Turtle Rock, it's a stretch to get it at 60 dollars but honestly who doesn't get new AAA's off of CD Key sites at this point. It's definitely polarizing and it'll be interesting to see how the game fares. I always feel a little biased in these arguments though seeing as one of the art guys at TR is a friend and showed some close buddies concept art and basically told us about the game like a year before it even got an announcement, so we've had the hype brewing for fucking ages by the time big alpha/beta/launch came around

A game from people I knew personally, hyped to high heaven, turning into a soggy pile of turds.
jesus fucking christ 2k went full fucking greedy with this game didn't they I had expectations for this game to be a semi L4D successor but jesus did they fuck this up so bad fuck you 2k never getting a game from you guys anymore what a fucking let down
die-hard trusting in Turtle Rock
I think this is why the game got so much attention honestly. "Turtle Rock is making it? You mean like, the Counter-Strike and first Left 4 Dead Turtle Rock??? Sold." Unfortunately either from developer incompetence or publisher fuckery (most likely case) the game is pretty much a let-down. To be fair a lot of people DID call it being sub-par pretty early.
too bad i liked the concept
They didn't even bother with single player in what could have been an awesome, deep, and immersive sci fi world. You can tell by some of the in game dialogue they wanted to but I imagine the producers were like NOPE new budget says fuck you we don't even include cornerstone parts in our games anymore.
From the snippets you hear in the campaign missions I don't think that kinda world existed in Titanfall at any point, it's just the standard PMC vs rebels with a few disconnected exotic elements like dinosaur planets. It's like the monster/big mystery in most horror movies, it's awesome and scary if you only get hints of it and let your imagination fill in the gaps, but as soon as it's revealed it's a letdown. Setting up expectations with something like Dishonored's maps and journals is relatively easy, actually making the game world interesting is another matter entirely. So really from what I got from the writing it seems like an easy decision to cut the campaign which in most AAA shooters isn't something actually enjoy anyway, it's just there to mentally justify the price point even if you don't enjoy it or don't play it.
I'd be so incredibly dissapointed if I were in those shoes. A game from people I knew personally, hyped to high heaven, turning into a soggy pile of turds.
I'm having a load of fun with it, and I don't plan on buying any content beyond the initial purchase. The only thing I bought into even kind of was pre-ordering for Behemoth, but that's only because I really like the "slow, lumbering tank" archetype, and even then I pre-ordered more-so because I'd played the game a fuck ton in alpha and beta and enjoyed the hell out of it :v: [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] I mean I know I'm gonna get boxed to hell here by showing a positive opinion of the game, but just as much as the megathread may be people who are all praising it or at least trying to justify their purchase for no reason, threads like this are people shitting on it for shitting on it. Two sides of the same coin, and neither party is right. (Before you go off on how "oh boy look at that you managed to put yourself higher than both parties clap clap", I very easily fit into the first category of someone who's outwardly pleased with the game)
How is the netcode for this game? Cryengine games are notorious for having bad netcode and hackers running around

It's a shame really. With all of the new available modes the game has some sense of potential longevity from what the beta provided. The issue is this DLC fuckery and pricetag shennanigans are turning what was potentially a good and fun game in to one that encompass the shitty practices (likely publishers) are forcing on games now.
I thought the high price tag would hurt their profits very badly from the get go but look it's #2 on steam top sellers.
Besides it being outrageous, is progression system really a - now?
i heard its insane levels of grinding, not the progression.
What is everyone fucking bitching about? I see so many people just shitting on the game for no apparent reason, I honestly have had some fun with this game so far and I hope we get some good DLC for it. So what if you can buy some skins or a deluxe edition of the game. 60 smackaroos is pretty fucking normal for an AAA title, it is pretty clear that this isn't some indy shit. Whatever man, video game players take their hobby way too seriously, just lighten up and have some fun.

Thing is Evolve isn't an average AAA title. It's at best a AA FPS MOBA, that isn't free, that still has a paywall IF you want to be competetive. Imagine if you had to pay 60 dorrars for league of legends and still had to buy champions. Granted that's an extreme example but this is where the industry is headed if Evolve actually does well on the market. You are only getting the bare minimum to be able to compete, the rest you have buy or grind for :^) <-- totally ok according to Evolve fans.

I played like two games of solo evacuation and unlocked every hunter and monster, it is not hard.

Right.

Honestly if Titanfall had the same options you see in halo (custom matches and etc) and more overall content it would have been game of the year easy.

That would make it really lively

Right.
I'm in it competitively to the point of I want to win, but that is what most games are about is it not? I like to see my team to victory. I'm just not on my overload rage and play like a douchenozzle grind where I HAVE to know the game inside and out to play. If I lose, I laugh and just play another game. I'm honestly just playing this game how I did with L4D, having fun meeting and talking with people in game. I'm having fun chasing the monster/being the monster and fighting the hunters, many people are just not giving this game a chance, they are making it out like it has to be some AA MOba whatever who cares.

The gameplay COULD be fun, but if I know that there's other ways to play, that's locked away behind some bullshit gate, I'm pissed. Also you seem to imply I'm a douchenozzle on overload rage, when all I really want is for games to be made for the customer and not the shareholder. For instance, I got invited into the Heroes of the what ever blizzard alpha/beta/demo/cash-in, where you have to pay 10 euro to get a champ. In a test phase, in a game. They wanted people to pay to bug test. If this becomes the golden standard I'll hang myself. /s

I love video games and honestly I've had fun with my time so far playing some Evolve. I'm not sure about the DLC situation myself but I can say that when it comes out I might buy some of it, playing behemoth looks fun as hell. Right now you can get the current season pass which offers up like some monster skins and the 4th hunters but that is about it, a bit of a disappointing season pass but they aren't even out yet. The only items you can purchase for real money right now besides that season pass is some basic monster skins which I won't buy, but I like knowing that it is there for those who do like it. There really is no micro transaction element, in fact the next content DLC probably won't be until May and it is just one monster.
60 smackaroos is pretty fucking normal for an AAA title, it is pretty clear that this isn't some indy shit.
I own several <$20 indie titles that have more content and lasting charm than Evolve does. That's my problem with the game. It absolutely does not have enough content to warrant the $60 pricetag. Compare it to almost any other AAA released in the past year and tell me otherwise. I liked the beta but the most I'd spend on it is $30 tops. I was actually shocked when the pre-orders came up and it wasn't $20 ala L4D1.

I said back after being in the Alpha that it wasn't very good, and that there wasn't a whole lot of draw to it. Then again with the Beta.
~~
L4D has to be my biggest regret. I bought it and realized my computer couldn't handle it, so I never bothered to play it until the second one came out and had both games.
Having played for 8 hours straight since my last post, I can safely say I'm actually having quite a bit of fun. Considering I spent more money buying L4D1 and L4D2 and never once played either for more than a few hours (I only recently actually played L4D2 past the first campaign setting) I think I'll get my moneys worth out of this, assuming the community doesn't drop dead within the next couple of weeks. By not buying the DLC, that'll probably be enough of a clear message regarding peoples opinions of DLC formats like this. As I only picked up the standard preorder version, I've not bothered concerning myself with any of the DLC. The initial reaction on release day was a bunch of idiots crying about cosmetic skins (I'm still giggling when I see "BUT THOSE COSMETIC SKINS SHOULD BE FREE" simply because they're fucking skins and nobody gives a shit about them) but the pay walled monsters/hunter variants is cause for concern.
This is why I don't usually post in threads like this. Y'all are some seriously super entitled assholes who think they can just dictate what a business sells it's product for. I get that not everyone else is selling something for that high of a price but a business is a business and the harsh reality is that the professionals in their marketing team is why they keep getting away with it, and the fact they continue the EXACT same practices simple means it's not a bad BUSINESS practice. It's just greed. It makes more money than if they sold ALL of that for just 60$ when they can just easily pull a DLC veil over your dicks and make a lip smacking 200 off of your dumb asses. Game companies are not your bros. They don't owe you anything. They don't owe you any hookups. They are a business. A corporation run by greedy assholes. I don't understand why anyone expects anything different with triple A titles. Let down after let down yet ya keep scarfing it up. (If you didn't buy the damn game don't respond as if I'm addressing you.) TL;DR TS;DU Game companies are still businesses. Business is business. Don't get upset because of the 95% of gamers who don't give a shit screw up an economically advantageous market for you all. It's to be expected at this point. And please feel free to rate me dumb and not respond. That doesn't defeat the purpose of a forum at all. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - postal))
