Y'all are some seriously super entitled assholes who think they can just dictate what a business sells it's product for.
I get that not everyone else is selling something for that high of a price but a business is a business and the harsh reality is that the professionals in their marketing team is why they keep getting away with it, and the fact they continue the EXACT same practices simple means it's not a bad BUSINESS practice. It's just greed. It makes more money than if they sold ALL of that for just 60$ when they can just easily pull a DLC veil over your dicks and make a lip smacking 200 off of your dumb asses.
Game companies are not your bros. They don't owe you anything. They don't owe you any hookups. They are a business. A corporation run by greedy assholes. I don't understand why anyone expects anything different with triple A titles.
Let down after let down yet ya keep scarfing it up. (If you didn't buy the damn game don't respond as if I'm addressing you.)

Game companies are still businesses. Business is business. Don't get upset because of the 95% of gamers who don't give a shit screw up an economically advantageous market for you all.
It's to be expected at this point.

Excellent contribution. Very mature.
How is the netcode for this game? Cryengine games are notorious for having bad netcode and hackers running around
The net code is actually pretty amazing, but there are certainly damage/perk hackers already.

You're coming in here and shitting all over our opinions about shady business practices because they made you butthurt and then specifically told us to rate you dumb, what else did you expect?
ya you're right
game companies dont owe us shit
and in response to that, we also dont owe them shit
i get the business angle, but you don't need to nickle and dime your customers to make a profit, this whole facade of lmao we have so much dlc isnt this great is making them lose sales and reputation as a publisher/dev
so im not going to buy what looks like a shitty business practise
Boom. Be this guy.
I see you didn't read.
I did read, it was just stupid. We know how businesses work, we're just not happy that they're immediately shoving $200 of half-assed bullshit at us right out of the gate and making the Season Pass barely cover any of it. That's a bad business practice, no matter how you spin it, it feels like we're not getting the whole game on release and deters us, at least the smarter of us, from continued purchases from that company.
Shit, i haven't bought a Ubisoft at full price since Assassin's Creed came out and the only reason why i've bought them since is because FC3 wasn't too bad (despite the towers and AssCreed shoe-horned side-mission). Regardless, it comes down to opinons, and i know that word makes people cry, but my opinion of it is that it's shady and i'm not down with it. I don't feel like i'm getting a complete game and i feel like the DLC aren't worth the price for what they are, so i most likely won't be buying any products from this company.

Of course people can't tell a business how to run their shit, but you're literally calling people "entitled assholes" just because they're expressing their dissatisfaction with a product?

You said it yourself, the world isn't made of hugs and flowers and is far from perfect, which also means that negative criticism can be as valid as positive criticism as long as you don't post asinine vague reasons as to why you aren't satisfied with something (see Steam reviews).
Also it's not because 2K is a big publisher that they're excused from being greedy and shafting customers to monetize every single aspect of a game.
The game is real good, I'm happy I bought it. Well worth the $60. People are saying it doesn't have enough content but it has more than you think, the amount of time that would need to go to balance even one character in an asymmetric game like this as well as they have is enormous. 15 unique characters with their own art, animation and mechanics is pretty good really.
The DLC prices are a bit high but that hasn't been finished yet, judging the base game on that is a big premature.
Judge the DLC, not the game.

I'll judge the devs publishers and their decisions thank you
Yeah.. that's exactly what I mean, you should be judging them. The base game is well worth $60 in my opinion, the rest is real shitty.
Also it wasn't really the devs it was 2k the publisher. -edit- oh you did mention that.
[editline]13th February 2015[/editline]
The one thing other than the dlc prices that I will never forgive the devs/2k for is that they went a completely different direction from this amazing concept art for the megamouth.

It's not shitposting or acting entitled it's angry rambling meant to persuade others in their community to not buy into a shitty business practice.

You people don't realize how much this publisher decision can effect the industry. It doesn't matter how good the game is. This could effect all of us in the future when other companies realize that this shitty business practice can be successful. If you don't bash the game for this practice then you are telling other companies it's okay to do it.
I'm completely aware, but I like the game. I'm not going to lie.
You can hate me for it if you want, but I'm sick of worrying about the industry, if I like a game enough I'm going to recommend it.
It's not shitposting or acting entitled it's angry rambling meant to persuade others in their community to not buy into a shitty business practice.
I am seriously getting sick of the "shitty business practice" angle. Turtle Rock still need money. They have been building this baby of theirs for 4 years. Yes. It is a "small" game for a AAA title but the core gameplay is fun (IN MY OPINION) and am while I still believe the game is oh so very SLIGHTLY overpriced the inclusion of an entirely new monster for pre-ordering made it okay.
Using their own "Prices" for future hunters and monsters what comes in the base game is perfectly fine for what you pay for. Math incoming.
Core Game ($59.99) +Pre-order Bonus Monster DLC ($14.99)
$7.49 a hunter x 12 = $89.88
$14.99 a monster x 3 = $44.97
Total Value = $134.85 Plus preorder monster($149.84)
Hunting Season Pass ($24.99) Included in the $79.99 Deluxe edition
Four more hunters $7.49 x 4= $29.96
Monster Skin pack $6.99
Total Value= $36.96
NOTE: Behemoth is strangely not included in the pass. He may or may not be included due to that pre-order exclusivity. I think that's stupid.
PC Monster Race ($99.99)
ALL of the above. Valued at ($186.79) so far.
PLUS another Monster ($14.99)
Two more Hunters ($14.98)
Four more skins for monsters ($6.99?) I'm guessing this price since monster skin packs are currently $6.99.
Total Value = ($223.75)
All future Maps and Gamemodes will all be free. 16 Maps and 4 Game modes at launch. It seems Perfectly reasonable to me. In all honesty. YES. I agree this game was marketed horribly. Do I like the game? YES. Do I personally think it's worth $60? Gotta say no, I paid $46 for it and I do not regret my purchase. Are their business practices shitty? Fuck no. Does it SOUND grimy as fuck? Yep.
I just feel like people are overreacting with the whole day 1 DLC thing. What you can buy in the ingame store right now is hardly DLC, it's all cosmetic skins for weapons and monsters that affect gameplay in no way. The actual DLC (new hunters, monsters, ...) is still in development.
Am I allowed to think the base game is worth the asking price but the day one DLC is unnecessarily abundant and overpriced, or does that make me just another pleb who can't comprehend good value?

60$ for L4D2 is too expensive as well imo.
Edit: Oh wait this is L4D1. Well my point still stands I guess, I wouldn't spend 60$ on that game either.
60$ for L4D2 is too expensive as well imo.
Well to be fairly honest L4D2 has got a lot of content now, it's just that the game's so old most of the content has been completed to hell and back by everyone.
But I still think the game's price should have been lower if only because it's a multiplayer game.

I'll be sure to mentally thank you when I'm buying the LIMITED EDITION ARCHERS WITH CROSSBOWS for Age of Empires 10, in order to be able to counter the MONGOLIAN HORSE DLC.
Also L4D was good till they decided to not update the xbox version with the director engine and just create l4d2 instead.

You are willingly ignorant to how diseased the gaming industry is. I'm done arguing with you, if you choose to be blind so be it, rest assured people like you are the reason we are getting shit games, shit early access and shit developers snatching money everywhere.
Maybe I'm not that passionate about it because I'm kind of sick of it but I'm not blind to it, I'm not actually going to buy the DLC, it's a complete rip off. At least until the price gets lowered a lot.
The base game isn't a rip off but some people aren't buying the base game on principle because the DLC is expensive.
The base game isn't a rip off but some people aren't buying the base game on principle because the DLC is expensive.
And they damn well should. Just like you should feel passionate about a hobby you enjoy.
It's really unfortunate, and I truly feel for the actual developers, but we need to hit the guys in control, the CEO's and shareholders.
Cause I'm personally tired of this watered down game for the same amount of money.
"But muh game has bigger budget" Yeah and most of it goes to advertising if we are talking anything above single A standards.
Advertising includes bribing internet icons in case you were confused.
We can agree to disagree then, the devs made a great game, its unfortunate that 2k ruined some of it but I'd like to support Turtle Rock by buying the game and discourage the DLC by not buying it.
I would rather you didn't put me in to all of your own categories of what's causing everything that's wrong with the game industry because I disagree with you on one thing, I'm not stupid, I don't buy shitty early access games and DayZ clones, not because of principle, because they suck. Any positive effect it has on the gaming industry is a good side effect, but I'm not going to blindly boycott everything that is a little wrong.
Anyway that's all I have to say, thanks for the interesting argument but this isn't mass debate so I will stop here.

I do. Remember when cosmetics were unlockables for playing instead of paying?

Game's a lot of fun, yeah. They did a good job balancing out the hunters vs the monster, there's only like one or two hunters that feel flatly outclassed by others, but even then they're such a different playstyle that they're still fun to run around as anyways
