How the fuck?
They changed it so the game reads the chat and tallys up the most common commands while the game is paused and then executes the most common tally result before pausing the game again.

there's no way they did that on their own
there's no way they did that on their own
They used a system where the game pauses and viewers vote on the next action.

Hint: ignore the fucking skeletons. Come back when you're higher level - go to the stairs leading up the side of the cliff near firelink shrine and go to the undead burg.
how the fuck did they kill crestfallen

That's a late game area. Don't go through there unless you want the Zweihander.

That's actually really fucking smart.

The catacombs are an early-game area, though. What's afterwards is a late-game area.
Invest in a blunt weapon (or the broken-ass Zweihander) and you'll be fine.

From personal experience, I'd honestly say that the next course of action is to just straight up to go the Undead Burg. Catacombs/Pinwheel can probably wait until around Capra/Blighttown IMO.

They're generally scaled after being done right between ringing the first and the second bell, and it's nice to get it done early for the Rite of Kindling. Meanwhile the boss of the area is without a doubt the easiest in the entire game.
But you can do most things in whatever order, so it won't matter much.
They used a system where the game pauses and viewers vote on the next action.
Thats good, the game clearly wasnt going to go anywhere seeing as it hasnt been able to get out of that pool for 4 days
This new system is so much better. Now we're getting somewhere
wow they actually got to firelink shrine and they are still talking about the pool in the chat.
wow they actually got to firelink shrine and they are still talking about the pool in the chat.
firelink shrine pool consumes all
The pool people wanted to get to firelink for the pool there.
they are just about to ring the first bell
It felt pointless and stupid at first, but now that there's some sort of democracy voting with the game pausing after every input it just feels cheap. It's like a very slow lets-play, as the only way there will be troll inputs is if enough interested people to form a majority jump on to the channel. Not only that, but the long pauses completely take away from the fast paced reactionary gameplay.
What a shame
Like with TPP, it's fun until it becomes a hivemind that eliminates all of the possibilities of someone doing the wrong thing on purpose.

Well that's the only way to make it work, and in my opinion it's genius.
It's still an achievement if they're able to finish this way.
Edit:
The gargoyle fight:

Quite amazing they got it on first try, even though the phantoms did most of the work.

It was way more entertaining to watch when it didn't "work."
Now it's just 2 seconds of audio, 60 second pause, 2 seconds of audio, 60 second pause.
Incredibly boring to watch. Went from a clusterfuck of a third-person action RPG to essentially a turn-based strategy game where your input accomplishes nothing.

were you actually there? all they were doing was fuck around and walk back and forth into walls or holes

I watched it idly for a couple of hours the first 2 days. I loved it, because they'd slosh around in the pool for hours, but then they'd climb the ladder and manage to loop around to the top floor, and then they killed a skeleton, and it was a real achievement and incredible luck.
Now it's all tactical and there's not much luck involved. Makes it less interesting.
sorry for wanting the game to be actually beatable
if we were always stuck at the asylum then interest would have been lost very fast because the entertainment value diminishes if they cant actually do anything for weeks
[editline]28th August 2015[/editline]
the game is too fast to rely on pure luck, pokemon worked because it was a turn based RPG

Though it would be preferable if the stream wasn't so delayed so they can have shorter pauses.
I would've liked to see the stream die out and the trolls get bored, only to have the dedicated players push through and get to the next area. Repeat. It's just way more impressive than having a 45-60 second pause between every 2-3 seconds of action.

You cannot complete dark souls with the 20-30 seconds of lag you get on twitch.tv
The delay is probably the only solution to the issue, and they can always turn it up or down by commands too. It's a pretty neat solution IMO.
