Thousands of agrees on posts that say that 'Science is superior' make me think that Facepunch is not atheist, but simply intolerant.
What? It is. If I say that a person is smarter than a dog, that' not intolerance, that's stating the obvious.
My facts are facts. They wouldn't be facts without proof. That's why God's existence is an opinion, not a fact. Because there's no proof.
But a belief doesn't need proof.
As Garry once said, you can't believe in gravity.
Religeon? Pigeon?
It all makes sense now. God is a pigeon.
But a belief doesn't need proof.
Beliefs are inferior to facts. I'm not saying you can't have your beliefs, but the people trying to use their beliefs to ignore facts are extremely ignorant.
But for some people's belief, your fact is an opinion.
So since they're ignorant, that makes it less factual?
Also, the fucking bible disproves god. Science proves itself.
So since they're ignorant, that makes it less factual?
As I am trying to say, for them, you are the ignorant one.
As I am trying to say, for them, you are the ignorant one.
Except they have no valid argument.
I'm surprised OP hasn't been banned for starting a religious flame war.
I'm surprised OP hasn't been banned for starting a religious flame war.
The OP was the only one flaming so far, from what I've seen. The rest of us are having a mature discussion.
Except they have no valid argument.
They don't need one to believe in something.
Oh god.
The OP was the only one flaming so far, from what I've seen. The rest of us are having a mature discussion.
Still, he hasn't been banned yet.

There's actually some interesting studies that place Eden as a valley of some sort that was flooded suddenly post-ice-age. There are strong suggestions that the Eden story is purely metaphorical. That the fruit of the tree was allegory for the invention of agriculture, and that in partaking it, mankind became like Gods in cultivating the land to suit their purposes, and could never return to the primitive hunter/gatherer ways of before. The story is in fact almost identical to part of the story of Gilgamesh, except unlike in the Biblical version, both the Adam and Eve figures agreed to eat the fruit and both were equally responsible, as opposed to Eve being the sole perpetrator and temptress. This suggests that writers of Genesis knowingly placed women into a subservient role, as inherently misguided seducers, and invented the supposed punishments of menstruation and painful childbirth. Of course, this probably comes from how mankind was once Matriarchal, which is to say, female dominant, worshiping feminine deities. At some point, there was a usurping of power by males into a patriarchal society, killing or breeding out more physically capable females in favor of frailer, less physically capable ones, resulting in the typical norms we see today in terms of physical build of males and females. I've recently given up religion and embraced the more evident, more logical conclusions to early-man's development, though I understand the pull of religion, and how hard it is to shake the indoctrination, and the sensation of an ever present thing, watching me and judging my actions. I have to keep reminding myself, that the thing watching and judging me, is that same face I see in the mirror, somewhere deep behind those eyes. It is said we are our most harsh critics. I cannot agree more. The religious ask, how can one be moral if they believe no God watches them, and so they can do horrible deeds without consequence? Because my own conscience is just as ever-present as any God can be, and it has no confusion about what constitutes right and wrong.
Someone should seriously just make a megathread for this. Im so sick of seeing this shit.
Someone should seriously just make a megathread for this. Im so sick of seeing this shit.
Sick of seeing religion? Welcome to the club.
Okay, I have time now. If you want me to a make a religion megathread rate this agree. If you want someone else to do it rate late.
Rated box, because doing that would result in a huge fucking flamewar and mass banning.
Okay, I have time now. If you want me to a make a religion megathread rate this agree. If you want someone else to do it rate late.
It will probably turn into 125 pages of non-stop trolling, flaming and incessant ranting that will place a dark patch on the GD for months to come.
Okay, we'll just keep making threads like these. Cool. [editline]17th November 2010[/editline] And I can put it in fast threads so we don't fuck up GD.
Okay, we'll just keep making threads like these. Cool.
Having one huge discussion thread with no fresh content and just the same old arguments repeated again and again is comparatively boring.
Having one huge discussion thread with no fresh content and just the same old arguments repeated again and again is comparatively boring.
Thats exactly my point- so we can kill this once and for all.
Thats exactly my point- so we can kill this once and for all.
People will keep on arguing as long as they can about everything and anything, as I say, 'It's human nature'.
I could call it The Religion Thread- The final resting place for all arguments about God. [editline]17th November 2010[/editline] Gotta use psychology on these guys
Why do these keep getting grouped together in debate? Nobody compares technology and magic.
Ok guys, stop throwing shit around.. science is just as factless as religion. No one can prove that god didnt create the world "hurr durr big bang lul", well you cant prove god didnt trigger the "big bang", and we cant prove that atoms are made of small green guys, as we cant see them! We can only experiment, and get a result, reflect and form a opninion about it, we will never know the truth. Religion actually is science's big brother, if we didnt think about where we was and how we got there and why, there would never be any religion such as science.
I respect religion, but are you seriously saying that religion really has more evidence than science? Do you have any understanding of what science is?
There is no war between science and religion. They're entirely different things and they're not exclusive of each other.
I respect religion, but are you seriously saying that religion really has more evidence than science? Do you have any understanding of what science is?
do you even need to ask
