He didn't actually not want to answer our questions, he's just too busy ruining a perfectly good Monte Carlo by turning it into a burrito wagon.
Rage quit indeed. Your questions were pretty troll-y, since it sure sounded like you already knew the answers.
I used yahoo instead of google to find this picture of a burrito wagon for you, also. Just to show I'm multitalented

If I had enough cash I would probably go with a full on taco delivery truck though

that clearly says ice cream my good sir
What's a tire
/comic relief
It's simply a clever ruse.

Yes, we did know the god damn answers. These were motherfucking test questions! Did you expect to come in here and laugh at everyone's lack of car knowledge as you hand us sub-par information?
Hey clutch, I'll throw you a simple question to see how knowledgeable you really are.

Oh, test questions? I've got one. It's easy, but still.
It's not trolling if we're testing your knowledge.

By that same line of thought, a test in school is trolling.
Nope, planned on coming in here and helping people with their car issues with quality info, since I've got diagnostic experience that many don't have. The only time I laugh at my customers is if they took it to some shitbox shop who can't do the job right but was cheaper. They come to me and the shop I work at and the car gets fixed properly, end of story.
Can't say as I've ever had a guy come in and go "my car won't start.... before I let you work on it, what engines bolt right up to a 1977 TH350 trans?... if you get it wrong I'm taking it somewhere else." Would be stupid.
Can't tell you how many times I've seen car issues online, and people just automatically go "Oh, it's this, replace it" or "yep, but car did that, it's this."
No no no, that, my friends, is subpar information. That is googling something to find the answer. Google will not tell you how to diagnose anything but the most rudimentary issues, that's the sad truth.
So, you're not a mechanic. You're basic maintenance, like most of us.
What qualifies as a mechanic?
If it comes in broke I fix it.
Replacing a locked up engine, dropping a trans to replace the clutch, replacing headgaskets.. I do that crap.
Anything electrical isn't working.. I track that down.
No starts.. diag and fix em.
Or the days when there's piddly stuff.. oil changes, brakes, suspension work, and tires, those are nice sometimes too.
And there's part time at an install shop.. radios, amps, subs, remote starts.. basically if it's electronic and you want it in your vehicle that's what I do there.
Fiberglass and paintwork on the side in my own free time.
Do you get a lot of electrical fixing jobs?

I'm definately beyond the basic maintenance category. Pretty sure I'm up here with a few other members too, maybe Lemon and I think Valon Kyre or whatever his name is.
Clutch is decent at what he does, light repair it seems. I'm certain he doesn't tear into engines and replace piston rings or bearings, hone cylinders, lap in valves... But he can bolt things on other things fairly well., and solder/tape/connect wires and the likes. Little work.
That said, anyone here who posts anywhere regularly can already do that as well. This thread was unneccesary. The people who have problems already make new threads for it. Which is one use for this forum.

The difference is, if you have a job at an established garage, there's the assumption that you must know what you're doing. Anyone can go on the internet and claim these things.
Correct, I do none of those things. In industry it's just not time efficient. If the car needs a valve job the head gets pulled and it's sent to a machine shop. If the bearings or rings are shot, it's generally the same price to toss in a new engine, as opposed to pull it, tear it down, and replace the bits that need replacing. Labor equals out the cost of the new one.
Could I? Yes. Is there a need to in a repair shop? Not really.
I've built from the block before, but that was only for friends on the side. None of my stuff goes fast, so unless one of my buddies needs help that's that.
I've been on quite a few automotive enthusiast forums, and the general populace of them is people who love the car it's geared towards, but don't know a thing about diagnosis. You're correct in the fact that anyone can take shit apart and put it together, sure... but it all comes down to diagnosis.. aka taking the RIGHT shit apart. Then of course putting it back together properly. That is the area where many people fall short. Seen too many parts slingers, and not enough level headed people who take the time to find the one part that actually needs replacing.

That's why I said "Most of us." I know you're a proper mechanic.
