I used to have one of those.
So, I may end up trading the FAL. For an SVT-40. We'll see if the guy bites though.
So, I may end up trading the FAL.
Dude keep that shit. Don't be stupid.
So, I may end up trading the FAL. For an SVT-40. We'll see if the guy bites though.
No... no... no... no... no... no... please don't.
So, I may end up trading the FAL. For an SVT-40. We'll see if the guy bites though.
Unless the doods giving you several hundred $ cash in top the SVT-40, I wouldn't do it. SVT-40's are really really really awesome, but they're not worth as much as an FAL.
Saw a Yugo Mauser at Big 5 today, all torn up, front site looked like part of it was sheared off, slide was completely gunked up and would hardly cycle. $300 bucks for it. Oh, also a Mosin 91/30. The guy claimed it was never used in any wars, but how would they prove that? I mean, everything looked very clean and the barrel was pristine but still. And honestly, they're so cheap anyway I'd like to have known mine was used in war, gives a bit of historical value. Shame they wanted like $250 for it.
The FAL is a low end FAL. CAI with a Hesse receiver. It's not worth as much as the Imbel receiver or DSA's. Otherwise, I would be more reluctant.
I've never even seen an SVT in real life. Seen like 30 FALs though

I built a FAL out of a CAI receiver and it was a piece of shit.
I've never even seen an SVT in real life. Seen like 30 FALs though
They're really cool, I love the way they feel in my hands. If you ever hold one, the first thing you realize is they weigh practically nothing. They weigh even less than an M44 even though they're just as long as an M91/30.
Why is having a FAL better than having an SVT 40 when the SVT 40 is more historic and I assume rarer?
Dammit I really want an SVT-40
I dunno, personally I'd rather have a FAL over an SVT-40 but that's because I live in the US and would like to actually be able to buy magazines for my gun.
Well that makes sense. I wouldn't mind having a FAL myself, but getting the opportunity to have an SVT 40 or G43 would be too tempting to pass up despite having one mag :v:
There are plenty of other guns that you can buy a zillion magazines for. I want an SVT40 and G43 even if I have to make my own magazine out of sheet metal and duct tape
I'd rather have an SVT-40. Magazines aren't firearms and I'm free to import all the SVT-40 magazines I want.
I dunno, personally I'd rather have a FAL over an SVT-40 but that's because I live in the US and would like to actually be able to buy magazines for my gun.
Can't you convert FPK magazines to fit in the SVT?
Honestly I'd rather have an SVT over a FAL. Also the fact that you can load SVTs with Mosin stripper clips is also nice. Also shit loads of surplus ammo
Also the fact that you can load SVTs with Mosin stripper clips is also nice.
That's what the Russians did more often than not. In most cases a soldier with an SVT would have only been issued 2-4 magazines and would be issued Mosin stripper clips beyond that. The Germans did the same thing with the G43. You got 3 mags total, then 45rounds on stripper clips
Honestly I'd rather have an SVT over a FAL. Also the fact that you can load SVTs with Mosin stripper clips is also nice. Ugh. I was on an Australian shooting forum when I said something that i thought was right and it turned out out was wrong (Turns out you can shoot Major in IPSC Standard Division with .357SIG, despite the IPSC Australia website saying the opposite). This guy, instantly goes on and starts saying I'm an idiot who pretends to be an IPSC pro or some shit, then he says that because he won state championships I should listen to him and that excuses his asshole behaviour. Well, this wouldn't normally bother me as I'd just call him a dick and move on (miracle of being separated by the internet), but it turns out this guy is at my gun club. Fucking brilliant, I have to deal with his attitude face to face now
Is he a bogan? serious question
I've never really had much contact with him, all I know is he's one of the top guys at my club. I think his fame went to his head
I'd trade my SVT for a FAL if I could, but that's because the FAL is banned here so obviously I'd really love to get one if it wasn't just because I can't have it, the SVT is cheap, and my dad wants a FAL because he carried one in the army. Also, all y'all 'Murricans gonna be jelly either tonight or tomorrow night, family photo coming after my calculus exam. Feel like I should include some of my parents' guns for extra jelly. [editline]1st February 2013[/editline] I just realized that with all this hype I'm pumping about myself you guys are probably expecting me to post pictures of like half the Russian State Arsenal worth of old guns.

M1A Scout rifle for 1200 bucks, I believe this is a pretty sweet deal. Tell me it is FP!!! Tell me it is!

Cabela's had an SVT up for $700 once too, but it looked like it'd been dragged behind a KV1 the entire war, not a speck of bluing left and it was badly pitted everywhere.
M1A Scout rifle for 1200 bucks, I believe this is a pretty sweet deal. Tell me it is FP!!! Tell me it is!
Depends on the condition really, but yea, that's a pretty decent price. Personally, I really think they are overpriced. I believe most gunshops have them anywhere from $1400 to $1600.
M1A Scout rifle for 1200 bucks, I believe this is a pretty sweet deal. Tell me it is FP!!! Only SVT-40's I've ever seen have been in museums.
A scout won't have a heavy barrel. It's just a 16-18" barrel on it. $1200 is a good deal, though. If you get it, I got some spare mags.
