Do you have birds laying? You can hold them, its called "clutching" so that multiple eggs will hatch together.
There should be a little button/lever by the trigger guard that holds the bolt back

Between the trigger guard and mag release there's a flat piece of metal that sticks out. Pull the slide back and push that lever, then release the slide and it should stay open.

One thing I don't like about the 10/22 is that the bolt doesn't lock back on the last shot of the mag, or lock back with an empty mag in the rifle. Luckily, they make cheap kits that let it do just that.

You should take the gun fully down when you clean it anyways just saying.

That's easier said than done with a 10/22. While not overly difficult, I hate taking my 10/22 completely down. Heck, for the most part I don't even clean the damn thing unless I start having accuracy or feeding issues.
All this 10/22 talk, I need to actually go and shoot mine. I've got over 9,000 rounds of .22, and I don't think I've shot it for the better part of a year, if not longer.
