If worst comes to worst I'd be perfectly happy overthrowing Sealand
Have seen 3 or 4 Dems now who say they are against the bill. There might still be hope.
Move to Georgia, we'll gladly take you in Ridge
Ugh, too humid. I'll move to AZ.
[editline]15th February 2013[/editline]
Ugh. A rep just proposed an amendment that would allow members of the military and their families to be exempt from the law.
So now being married to someone in the military puts you above the average citizen.
How is family defined? Everyone has a cousin or brother in law or something in the military
The amendment was withdrawn after everyone else called him an idiot.

"Ms Fields (the sponsor of the bill), how will we uphold this measure, should it become law?"
"If people want to go to Wyoming and buy these things and bring them back, then we suggest they don't, because will prosecute you if we find out you did."
WHAT?!
[editline]15th February 2013[/editline]
I'm sick of Rhonda Fields, and her using fallacies and the imagery of dead children to get her bill passed. I just emailed her:
[QUOTE]Ms Fields,
Please tell me how preventing me, a law abiding citizen who owns many firearms, from purchasing magazines for my rifle will save people's lives?
Murder is already illegal. How do you think that someone who is bent on committing multiple felonies will be stopped by another law?
How can you honestly think that people will think twice about breaking your unenforceable law will stop them?
I own guns that have plenty of 30 and 40 round capacity magazines, and there are no smaller ones available. Say I choose to sell the gun, for whatever reason. How can I be expected to sell a firearm that has no means of feeding ammunition, since your bill will prevent transfer of existing magazines? What if I need to sell it to raise money to pay a sudden expense? Would you rather I lose my home, my car, because I cannot pay my bills? Are you for ruining the lives of law abiding, in addition to businesses who have done nothing unlawful?
You may be my Representative in the the state government, but you do not represent me, nor anybody I know.
Colorado has a method in place to recall legislators. You can bet I'll be in favor of any such vote brought against you.

Got back from my range day. My buddy dropped ~1,000 rounds down range today, was really fun. Only issue was my RPK decided that it didn't need a pistolgrip anymore so it fell off. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but the screw fell through dock we were shooting on and fell into the pond.

welp? Tape that fucker back on and get back to shooting!
Audible vote :downs:
Of course he says it passes. It's bullshit. We need a record of who voted how.

I donno, it was kinda fun shooting it when it was all fud without a pistol grip. Put 80 rounds through it without the grip for shits and giggles before we went home. Gonna have to order a new screw unless I can find one of my spares.
Got a reply from my second Senator, finally:
[quote="Senator Tim Kaine, D-VA"]
Mr. -me-
-Address and Zip-
Dear Mr. -me-:
Thank you for contacting me to share your views on proposals to reduce gun violence. I appreciate hearing from you.
No one can deny that gun violence is a serious problem in this country today. We owe it to the victims of the growing number of mass shootings to vigorously debate specific and comprehensive proposals that can keep our communities safer. The right approach focuses on many issues - improvements to the mental health system, better security protocols and common sense rules about gun use, including keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals.
When I was on the Richmond City Council in the 1990s, our city was mired in an epidemic of gun violence that included the city having the second-highest homicide rate in the United States. The most successful step we took was implementing Project Exile, a program that involved federal prosecution and tougher penalties for gun crimes that were previously treated more leniently in state courts. Celebrated by diverse groups engaged in the gun violence debate - including the National Rifle Association and the Brady Campaign - the program helped drive down Richmond's homicide rate by nearly 60 percent within a few years.
In 2007, the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech revealed glaring weaknesses in campus security protocols at colleges and universities, in our mental health system and the gun background check system for gun purchases. In a bipartisan spirit, I worked with then-Attorney General Bob McDonnell [who currently is now Virginia Governor with two years remaining in his single-term as that position; VA law doesn't allow more than one] to immediately improve our background check system and issued an executive order ensuring that those adjudicated to be mentally ill and dangerous would be entered into a national database and barred from purchasing weapons. We also changed standards for mental health treatment and increased funding for community health programs while dramatically improving campus security and efforts to assist college students suffering from mental stress.
In January I attended a round-table event in Richmond with Vice President Biden on gun violence, to talk about the lessons learned in Virginia and the need for a comprehensive approach to these problems. As your U.S. Senator, I will work to bring that kind of comprehensive approach that will strengthen the safety of our communities, while protecting our Second Amendment rights. As a gun owner who worked with others to constitutionally guarantee Virginians the right to hunt, I know that you can be a strong supporter of the Second Amendment without tolerating the gun tragedies that are too often a part of our daily lives.
Concerning specific proposals, I am a strong supporter of universal background record checks. This is the only way we can enforce existing laws that prohibit dangerous individuals from purchasing guns. I am open to supporting legislation placing reasonable limits on high capacity magazines, combat-style weapons and gun trafficking if they are carefully drafted.
Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind as Congress continues to debate strategies to reduce gun violence. Thank you once again for contacting me.
Sincerely,
Tim Kaine

And to think, I voted for him because I thought he was better than the other guy up for election in our district... -.- Though, his response does seem more directed and personal (from his staffer, I know), than Warner's. Atleast all the fonts in the actual email are the same size and type, unlike my other responses, haha.

[QUOTE=Mr. Foster;39599053]I'm not from Missouri, but I can tell you that won't pass.
So I had a community blog idea. I've been personally wanting to start a firearms related blog for awhile. I was going to do it solely by myself, but I think it would be nice to have a couple of people making entries into it. I have general ideas for blog posts, such as reviews for guns/equipment, personal recommendations, factual information to answer questions, gun politics, etc.
My plan is to do this regardless if no one else is interested. However, I'd really like it if some of the regulars in this thread would contribute to it. My knowledge lies primarily in current/modern equipment, but I know that there are a lot of folks on here that have good knowledge of historical firearms, etc. I want people to be forward with their opinions, but be factual at the same time. I would also like some pro-gun/knowledgeable folks from outside of the U.S. to contribute as well.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, let's get it rolling. I would like a general consensus on where to host the blog, etc. I have currently been working on a post related to flashlights, weaponlights, and LED vs Halogen Bulbs.[/QUOTE]
I'd love to help out. I'm fairly political and hopefully by this summer or next fall, I should have time to be able to work back into shooting comp, which means I'll have more time and money to do ammo test and some weapons reviews.
r/guns and r/progun makes me wonder why we are not facing a tin foil shortage

If there is one lesson everybody should take from the internet, don't search for political or philosophical wisdom from Reddit.

not everyone on r/guns is a paranoiac, just the vocal ones
the mods said a few weeks back they were getting ready to start banning for political threads but everyone bitched until they gave up
Now they have two mod approved political threads per day, local and federal.

Just need to file the bolster a bit so it sits flat with the barrel, plus it'll remove the machining marks which need to come off anyway.
Next up though, the trigger.

Box says "MADE IN YUGOSLAVIA".
Saw a bill today that the dems in Mississippi tried to pitch.
Involved total gun confiscation. I laughed.

I think they're just trying to get people killed.
normally the dems in mississippi are pretty neutral on gun rights
[editline]16th February 2013[/editline]

I see nothing incorrect with this, why is it among a bunch of silly ones?
I met this really cool former Marine yesterday that knew what I can only assume is way more than me about firearms.
He showed me a picture of his Saiga 12 with a 20 round drum mag and extendable stock. It was so purdy. Also, I mentioned that someone told me pmags were terrible and he just laughed.
In other news, sold a Colt Carbine yesterday and the customer seemed so happy. We also got a Bushmaster in, which I would totally buy for almost $100 off with my discount if it was next week.
I'm torn between buying a full AR at 10% discount and buying a parts kit. I used to think they were stupid, but I fell in love when I handled my first Sig M400 a few months ago.
Oh, what are your guys' thoughts on the DPMS Sportical? We sell them for somewhere in the $600 range and I like the look of them, aside from the flat top. Of course, that could be changed so I'm thinking of getting one with my tax return.
