enfields suck etc
Are you upset you don't have one?
Went to the local Wal-Mart to try to see if they had any .22lr for my new AR-7 to eat once shooting season would start and ended up having a 30 minute discussion with 3 strangers about the bullshit SAFE Act and how it affected all of us. The only one that supported the AWB in it was a fudd who claimed that the military and police should have them as they are experienced enough to shoot them and maintain them properly which we actually managed to convince him to our side as why we hated it by showing him how our guns are now considered them and why it's only an arbitrary definition. Then the one guy mentions how he's from Virginia visiting relatives and discusses how bullshit the handgun regulations are and how we have Duty to Retreat in comparison to their Stand Your Ground and invited us to move there to enjoy having freedoms.
I'm actually happy that I've been proven wrong, I thought this sympathy by southerners only existed on the internet.
They're not. However, to separate the action from the barrel you need an action wrench. And when installing a new barrel you need to really know what you're doing, because the No.4s are breeched up differently than all the other Lee Enfields.
Also, I can tell you right now that none of those modifications happened immediately following WWII. They were all done in the mid-60's if not later when the first batch of Enfields were imported from England (hence the pre-68 import stamp on the wrist of the rifle). Also it's HIGHLY unlikely that the rifle saw combat, unless it saw combat during Korea. Gauging by the serial number the rifle was made in the 3rd quarter of 1944, so it's not likely it made it to frontline duty by April of '45; especially considering by this time the Brits were issuing the No.5 in increasing numbers to frontline troops.
Thanks for the information, I'm definitely going to restore it to its original state. I had assumed it was done shortly after WW2 because of the butt pad which is from 1949 as best as I can tell which matches what the dealer told me. I'm making great progress on the rust. Hopefully I can find a bolt which fits this rifle. Any ideas where to look? All the places I've seen appear to be out of them. Maybe I should buy a "bubba" rifle for $90 and cannibalize it for spare parts.
i dont dislike the enfield at all, you all just get so defensive when someone says it sucks
granted ill probably never own one as i dont feel like paying for 303
yeah I wouldn't buy an enfield just because of the insane ammo costs. I'd consider one in 308 but I think all of the 308 ones are from India. And lolIndian guns.
my .22 enfield has 99 problems, but ammo ain't one
Alright gunpunch, I had my range trip today!
Here's what was shot:

Ruger SR40c
Springfield XDM-40
CZ 75
I think it was a S&W, but a .357 magnum wheelgun

A .22LR wheelgun, this time I think it's a Remington

S&W .44 mag deer revolver
And perhaps my favorite, one that everyone will recognize:
*huge ruger logo on grip*
also I have heard lots of bad things about the Beretta 92
when i was on my pistol buying spree, i was real close to closing a deal for a 92fs from 1991 but i decided id rather have a 1911
still want one
I love Ruger's SR series, grew up shooting my Dad's SR40. But they recently switched to more of the Striker-fire type hammers and they lost my personal interest. How do the new(er) SRs shoot?

I got it to fail to fire once, but that was probably the ammo and not the gun. 40 isn't a great caliber for that size gun, but it was fun for the ~70 rounds of .40 we had
I think, based on the Ruger logo on the grip, that the .22 revolver is actually a Ruger,. Was it six shot (Single Six) or ten shot (Single Ten)? Also, that .357 looks like a S&W 686 to me.
Also, if you're Canadian/Australian/British (if they're still legal there), it's your national duty to own an Enfield or two, and then just reload for it. $20/box becomes $8/box.
I don't recognize logos to well. It was a six shot, loaded through the side and each spent casing was manually plunged out.

So it was a Ruger Single Six then.

The SA is a Ruger both the DA's are S&W's.
Anyone ever see one of these before?
Never seen or heard one of these before, but it looks pretty cool, I need a new scope for my sig

looks cool, I might pick one up
yeah if no one here has tried one, I'll pick one up and let you guys know how it runs.
I swear to god my mosin's barrel is capable of spawning carbon deposits. I spent an hour working just on the barrel and every time I got a dry patch through it, I'd pull it back and find another bit of gunk that was hidden somewhere
fuckin slavmagic

Yeah, in a sub-compact, a .40 S&W is less than ideal. We have ours in a full 5.5" barrel with a 15rd doublestack, and we've never had an issue out of it. (We don't shoot it very often though; just enough to stay proficient with the weapon, so that might be why)
Every time you guys gripe about the cost of ammunition you just make me realize how profitable manufacturing odd calibers would be because of all the Enfield owners out there.
Anyways, POLL TIME
If I were to chunk out a couple of cheaaaapcheapcheap Slavshit magazines (I'm talking easy stuff to make, like pistol magazines and other things that don't require specialized stamps), who would toss down some cash for them? I was also thinking about playing with the idea of making some extended Tokarev/Makarov magazines just for shits and giggles, but until I'm successful with that I won't even consider it as an option.
(you should totally post pics of it)

I'd buy a 10+ round tok mag

If you can find a way to get around ITAR to let you export TT-33 (10-round ones as well as original 8, I wouldn't mind a 10-rounder) and pinned 5/10 round SVT mags to Canuckistan at at least half the price we pay already ($30 for authentic TT-33 mags and $80 for reproduction SVT) then I may be up for some, however good luck trying.

Unfortunately I'm not at home to take pictures if material and equipment. That being said, I think I'll start taking "pre-orders" (in quotation because I'm not asking for money for pre-orders, it's really just a tally of how many people would want some magazines) and then I'll go from there and figure out what kind of capacity counts I should look at.
For Tokarev magazines I was thinking something along the lines of:
Standard (8+)
Extended (10+)
Machine-pistol (15+)
Makarov:
Standard (8+)
Extended (10+)
Machine-pistol (15+)
CZ-52:
Standard (8+)
Extended (10+)
Machine-pistol (15+)
All pretty much the same.

Would rather not get implicated for smuggling firearms parts, thanks. I know the US doesn't give a shit about what Canada has to say, but maybe if more Americans and American gunmakers would ask for Canada to be exempted from ITAR then it wouldn't be a problem anymore.

I meant ilikecorn's mosin, sorry :v:
Also, PSL mags would probably be popular, I donno if those are stamped or not though.

PSL magazines are definitely stamped.
I wonder how hard it would be to make SVT-40 magazines...
[editline]18th February 2013[/editline]
Basically if it can be built without having to stamp it, I'm more than willing to give it a shot.
Man, I took a nap about an hour after I got home from my range trip and now I feel awful. Ear-splitting headache and my body has that achey, sicky feeling.
It wasn't even cold out! What did I do?
