Electric Voice Phenomena - EVP
Electronic voice phenomena are electronically captured sounds that resemble speech, but are not the result of intentional voice recordings. Common sources include static, stray radio transmissions and background noise. Some people claim these sounds are of paranormal origin,[1] while there are natural explanations such as apophenia (finding significance in insignificant phenomena), auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in their own language), equipment artefacts, or simple hoaxes. Recordings of electronic voice phenomena are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitvity) of the recording equipment. According to parapsychologist Konstantin Raudive, who popularized the idea, EVP are typically brief, usually the length of a word or short phrase
Examples:
Surpised this hasn't been posted. http://www.angelfire.com/trek/caver/ It is seriously good. You gotta read it.
i just read the whole thing, its now almost 11:00 at night, I can't sleep :( EDIT: But it was very fun to read
I just rented Paranormal Activity. This will now scare me.
Electric Voice Phenomena - EVP
I really hate those sometimes. I remember making a bullshit EVP by myself, I just quietely blabbered for few seconds ina a voice recorder, then I convinced most of my friends it's a ghost saying: "I want you dead". power of suggestion.
I think one great mystery many people might wonder about is what happened to tank man. this image surfaced only last year:
There was a video where you see the tank try to go around him but he takes a step to his left to block it. Then he was later taken away by a cop or something. I can't remember. People say he was executed immediately afterwards though. I can't seem to find the video.
I actually once saw a really huge fireball some 20 meters up in the sky across a road. Because it was night and I didn't know the area well, I concluded that maybe there was a nearby industry chimney or something that could emit freaking fireballs. I went back in daylight some time after just to discover this occurrence had happened several meters above some low houses.
Dude I saw last year at night maybe 30 or 20 meters up in the sky too a fireball, it slowly was falling, I mean really slow. But now when I think it it's maybe a weather balloon. Or is it... [editline]04:04PM[/editline]
How can you say it was proven as a hoax if you didn't give us any proof?
There was a thread years ago on Facepunch about it. The creators of the story and the Polybius website said that it was like a commercial, a commercial to get people's interest.

I got a good one: The Hexagon of Saturn
A persisting hexagonal wave pattern around the north polar vortex in the atmosphere at about 78°N was first noted in the Voyager images.[28][29] Unlike the north pole, HST imaging of the south polar region indicates the presence of a jet stream, but no strong polar vortex nor any hexagonal standing wave.[30] However, NASA reported in November 2006 that the Cassini spacecraft observed a 'hurricane-like' storm locked to the south pole that had a clearly defined eyewall.[31] This observation is particularly notable because eyewall clouds had not previously been seen on any planet other than Earth (including a failure to observe an eyewall in the Great Red Spot of Jupiter by the Galileo spacecraft).[32] The straight sides of the northern polar hexagon are each about 13 800 km long. The entire structure rotates with a period of 10h 39 m 24s, the same period as that of the planet's radio emissions, which is assumed to be equal to the period of rotation of Saturn's interior. The hexagonal feature does not shift in longitude like the other clouds in the visible atmosphere. The pattern's origin is a matter of much speculation. Most astronomers seem to think some sort of standing-wave pattern in the atmosphere; but the hexagon might be a novel sort of aurora. Polygonal shapes have been replicated in spinning buckets of fluid in a laboratory.[33]
There's a goddamn perfect hexagon six times the size of the Earth glued to the North Pole of Saturn that no one can explain effectively.
Was the site by any chance ilovebees.com? This was an ARG to promote Halo 2. People following it could actually affect the story as it advanced.
I loved that ARG, the best part about it was that the actual ARG story didnt have anything to do with halo at all.
This is a good thread, not as good as the last one yet...
So the cave story is fake? That sucks.
I read all the 10 pages. What happened after that? Did he got in the cave with joe again? It doesnt go further than page 10 for me.
We are meant to assume that he, Joe, and B died or never came back after their visit to the cave.

That's interesting. I've never noticed that before.
Oh deary.
The Devil’s Footprints was the name given to a peculiar phenomenon that occurred in Devon, England on 8 February 1855. After a light snowfall, during the night, a series of hoof-like marks appeared in the snow. These footprints, measuring 1.5 to 2.5 inches wide and eight inches apart, continued throughout the countryside for a total of over 100 miles, and, although veering at various points, for the greater part of their course followed straight lines. Houses, rivers, haystacks and other obstacles were travelled straight over, and footprints appeared on the tops of snow-covered roofs and high walls which lay in the footprints’ path, as well as leading up to and exiting various drain pipes of as small as a four inch diameter. Reports of similar anomalous, obstacle-unheeded footprints exist from other parts of the world, although none is of such a scale as that of the case of the Devil’s Footprints.

Oh deary.
If I remember right a lot of Jersey Devil sightings had those too.
Tunguska event was proven to be a meteor explosion.
I'm pretty darn sure it wasn't proved. That is just the best theory they can come up with. You can't prove something that nobody saw or you have compelling hard evidence that rules out all other possibilities by its nature. From what I had heard, they said it was a meteor or small asteroid that was flying towards earth and stopped in mid air... causing it to explode.
He can't and he doesn't. It's an unsolved mystery for a reason.
check the previous mystery thread, there's a link that debunks polybius with quotes from programmer of the game.
I heard one a while ago. Apparantly, during the 1970s, a Dutch ship managed to recieve an SOS from another ship, they managed to find its coordinates and set off for it, upon finding the ship, they boarded it to find out what was wrong and found every one of the crew dead, not one of them looked like they had been physically harmed but each one of them had a look of terror on their faces, the ship's captain and his dog were found in a similar state (well, as far as dogs go for terror). I read about that a while ago so I may have the timeline wrong, or even the nationality of the ship that found the dead sea men.

http://www.jkcinema.com/gamesmov.asp?type=5
Just the other day I found out I'm immune to electromagnetic "fear cages". For those of you that don't know what those are, they are when wires run around a room to make a cage of electromagnetism, which can lead to a sense of dread. This is why unfinished basements can be terrifying.
Actually, if something has adapted to extreme pressure and it surfaces it will most likely die.
However sperm whales can dive 3,000 meters. Not the bottom, but still really deep. Plus we've hardly discovered any percentage of the ocean to be certain whats down there. Each deep dive they discover a new species. Who knows what the ocean has in it. Remember when the giant squid was just something fishermen brought up dead from time to time? Or just something that washed up? Not anymore. There is also a bigger squid out there, the Colossal squid. The blue whale is the biggest known thing on earth. There are entire mountains and volcanoes underwater. Some which are bigger than Everest. As we speak another Hawaiian island is being formed while the others are slowly pushed west. It's an alien world, right on our own planet. :cthulhu:
Deep man
