As it dove it became reunited with more and more if it squid brotheren, all of which seemed curious about their friends new device. They flashed red, got seemingly aggravated by the squid. Their suckers are barbed, and they are known to be one of the most intelligent animals on earth.
Deep ocean fish have evolved to be red in color so they are invisible to others because red light does not penetrate that deep. Because of this, eyes of creatures down there are far different than eyes of creatures up here.
The ocean is a fascinating thing. It's things like these that helped me make up my mind to become a marine biologist.

A man suspected of sorcery, or some dark art shit was taken to the Tower of London during the 17th Century, and placed in a cell with a bunch of other criminals, during the winter, there was a food shortage, and many of the prisoners died of starvation, anyway these criminals supposedly got together and ate the newcomer (the suspected sorcerer) to feed themselves. Cases like this weren't unheard of in a place like the Tower, and apparently the guards didn't do anything, now a few days later, supposedly, a guard hears screams coming from the cell containing the cannibals who ate the sorcerer, he investigates and catches the sight of some great hound for barely a second before it rounded a corner and disappeared, upon looking into the cell, all the inmates were torn apart, some parts of their anatomy missing like it had been eaten up. Anyway no guard present at the time ever recalled seeing a hound there, at least not one of that size.
Like with the Dutch vessel story, it's entirely likely that I misquoted or misread parts of it.

The satellites look at an area of the ocean, and find what the features on the ocean floor are like, because every large object on the floor effects the ocean surface just enough to be detected. Very little of the actual ocean floor has been searched in detail.
Not to many people know about the Monterey Canyon. It's a [I][B]11,800ft deep [/B][/I]just inside Monterey Bay, California.
It's one of the few spots in the ocean that have been scanned over in detail.

Pretty much, it was an unexplained flash picked up south of Africa in 1979 that has the characteristic double-flash of a nuclear explosion. It is believed to be a joint South African-Israeli nuclear test.
Of course as far as we know it could have been some crazy conspiracy related thing that ended up in a nuke detonating on a cargo ship.
I can't think of any really scary or interesting ones, I think this and the other thread have them covered.
