I'm not an expert on this but he seems to be missing an arm.
That's just what happens when you handle high explosives.
I'm making a grill. I don't know how to texture though, so that's a problem.
The Mission Improbable guy would probably have some use for that. :v:
About an hour and a half of work, this is my first vehicle of any type and it really shows, doing a LOT of things wrong, but hey, it's just to learn, so it doesn't matter :D
Look ma, two arms! Beginning bit of that other video. This part took around three hours, though most of it was making sure the gosh darn rig worked properly.
sorry to spam, this'll probably be the last one until it's completely finished.
It's not spam when it's content :)

Working on some wooden toy designs. I think I might actually get around to making the site to sell the plans this time around. Also for those who forget, this is what they look like fabricated. Forget? How about those of us that have never seen or even heard of it? :v:
I think I'm getting deja vu.
Forget? How about those of us that have never seen or even heard of it? :v:
I swear I showed them off in this thread back when I first made them, maybe that was creative work that doesn't deserve a thread.
MASTER HAND FROM SUPER SMASH BROS.!!!!
yeah man that what was the inspiration for the design. the idea is to have the hand controlled with the razer hydra: [img_thumb]http://static.geekbeat.tv/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Razer_Hydra.jpg[/img_thumb] and we're gonna have idle animations and such so it's looks friendly and cartoony. once i get the go ahead i'll be rigging and animating :)
Has anyone here tried out 3D printing? I'm thinking of buying/assembling one of the Wallace Rep Raps.

i'll post them as i go if you want, i'm rigging tentatively now as i haven't actually gotten the go ahead yet on the mesh. my assumption is that they'll be happy or will require only slight changes on the mesh itself.

Could you print out like, a weapon model? like obviously, it wouldn't work if it were a firearm, but could you print out something like, a sword?
Could you print out like, a weapon model? like obviously, it wouldn't work if it were a firearm, but could you print out something like, a sword?
If you want to print out a sandwich sword tooth pick I am sure you could. You can't print very large without a industrial machine.
Well, I'm talking a sword of average size? How much do these things cost?
Well, I'm talking a sword of average size? How much do these things cost?
Expensive, like it costs like 40 bucks to get a 4 inch figure so imagine the cost of a real size sword.
Expensive, like it costs like 40 bucks to get a 4 inch figure so imagine the cost of a real size sword.
That's the cost of services like Shapeways. With your own 3D printer, it's much cheaper. We're talking maybe $2 for a 4" figure, if you don't count the cost of the machine, and the figure itself is hollow. Source: My university has 3D prototyper machines in the engineering building.
Expensive, like it costs like 40 bucks to get a 4 inch figure so imagine the cost of a real size sword.
That's to get it printed by someone else. The max print size for the Wallace model (the one I want to build) is 8"x8"x5.5", so you'd probably have to print the sword in pieces and put it together (which is possible). I found a place selling the kit for the Wallace for about $90 + international shipping. Compared to other models or professional 3D printers, that's damn cheap. [editline].[/editline] Get the fuck out of here Quinn :v:

Dayum.
its only the lower reciever so (while it's still very cool and an acomplishment) that article is full of shit
Someone did print an upper to go with the lower but it hasn't been tested yet. Its interesting but far from done.

That's scary shit! O.o Think about it... Soon everyone would go around printing out guns.. Fully functional working guns.. And rocket launchers.
.. That's scary shit! O.o Think about it... Soon everyone would go around printing out guns.. Fully functional working guns.. And rocket launchers.
I read a post on Reddit talking about how gun control may soon be impossible if everyone can go around printing firearms. Now, a lot of that's hyperbole, but there's a hint of truth.
