this time i pulled the colors from the sprite. what do you guys think or this one? I'm thinking of making small environments for each type and rendering them in that environment. Should I change the style in any way?
Is there any way you could get the outline to be a more consistent color? The way it is now with the random really dark pixels in addition to the rest looks a bit off to me. Also after a quick google search, it looks like the left magnet should be flipped 180º.

180 because the poles on the left magnet are the opposite way up, but it's also 90 degrees forward.

Reminds me of Glock style, but I'm not sure which Glock exactly.

I have a Glock 17, and whilst that isn't a model 17, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be slightly wider than that. Other than that, very nice job.

you're right. i missed the detail of flipping them. I guess I'll keep that in mind for whenever i get to magneton
I'm trying to find a good way to get consistent outlines but it's a fine balance between too much and too little when at such a small resolution. most pokemon sprites have multi-colored outlines and I've thought up a process to capture that. It'll be a bit longer process to get it done but I think the result will look fantastic. I'm going to be trying it in my next one which per request will be sudowoodo.
(also i put up a ditto on my tumblr if u guys want to czech it out)

The magnets act as arms so they can rotate what ever way they want.
Got around to converting my earlier weapon into a game model and texture it, it is still WIP but mostly finished. End result = 13500 tris / 2048x2048 textures (diffuse, normal, spec/gloss).

What material is it supposed to be?
It looks a bit like rubber to me. Otherwise it's cool though.
Yea I still have lots of work to do on the specular maps so it looks kinda derpy, it's supposed to be metal (the black stuff)

Are you using marmoset to render that? If not, it certainly could do some wonders.

I've seen those Marmoset renders they look sweet I will definitely check it out. The pic I posted was taken straight from the UDK viewport.

Haha, I really hate that some people think digital art is just pressing the "Make art" button.

This image is sort of related.

Someone do the same but instead, have it
1.Create some primitives
2. Model the rest of the fucking owl

Metal has high but concentrated reflection. If you're gonna put that into UDK or something use a large number (7-12) on the specular level.

Is there still a free version of marmoset available btw? My trial expired some time ago. :(

That would work even better if the right picture was of some incredibly high quality super realistic human head sculpt.
Close enough :v:
I guess this applies:

There's a guy on the Polycount forums with an avatar which is a normal map with text that says "I'm normal"
I always thought that was clever, it's the kind of thing you just never forget.
This poped up on my twitter and just thought this might be of interest to you people http://www.artbypapercut.com/, its amazing how good you guys are with 3d tools.
Am I cool now?
