I always model when high. I find that when my seat is lower it is harder to use my keyboard.
I want to try modelling on magic mushrooms, I've hacked someones PSP in what seemed like to time at all and nearly finished GTA until I got to a chase scene and eventually the shrooms wore off and I realized i'd been chasing closely behind the AI for god knows how long around a small town. But pretty much on shrooms you do things and it seems like no effort or time at all..
shrooms would be pretty cool. psychedelics in general would be interesting to do modeling on because of just how different your perception would be. i figure one could make some neat shit tripping. i honestly figure i'm good enough at modeling that i could do it on moderate dose of acid. probably like 3 hits. might try that sometime! the great thing about weed is that it gives me a lot of motivation and encouragement in addition to a different line of thought.
first texture :D the metal isnt bleeding, in tf2, it's stabbed into someone's back
Why is it bleeding through the metal?
yeah it makes it look like rust that's red lol. blood spots on the top part of the metal cylinder and a bit on the spike would be cool! [editline]12th September 2012[/editline] fixed
Why is it bleeding through the metal?
stabbed the hole in the metal and it seeped through :D
Anywhere to look for good solid tutorials on different poly modeling like cars, guns, buildings etc, would help a lot.
So, coming from someone that's never modeled in anything but Cinema4D, how hard would it be to transition over to Blender? I'm aiming to model primarily for games, but I really want to avoid any potential legal issues as I don't own a proper copy of C4D (yet). I've heard a lot of conflicting opinions regarding C4D vs. Blender so I figured I'd ask you fine folks since y'all seem to know a hell of a lot more about 3D art then I do.
As far as I've seen of C4D, it's good for animations, but bad for just about everything else (compared to other software). This is a great place to start, but keep in mind some parts of it are dated to older versions of Blender.
You could just fork over $10/7€ on CGCookie and have access to all their content for a month, if you have a fast connection and one day of free time I advise you to download it all (for the whole month you can download anything from BlenderCookie, MaxCookie, etc), that's what I do at least, buy a 1 month subscription every 6 months and update my collection :v: (and the Blender tutorials are really good too, haven't seen most of the others but I guess they must be good as well)
Made a quick 3d model of my phone: (Might take a few seconds to load) Some UV-issues, and I couldn't be bothered finishing the backside.
That's pretty cool man, wireframe?
That's pretty cool man, wireframe?
Was kinda hoping no one would ask. :P Front facing camera is a mess, but at least it's only quads. Edit: Also, a little E3D-render: (Click image for video clip)
Aha it's not that bad :D I have made worse.... Much worse...
Aha it's not that bad :D I have made worse.... Much worse...
I wasn't too picky with the edgeflow on this one. Just needed a working model with textures I could import into Element3D, and render it within AE. :) Btw, I just noticed the ngon on the top left. Meh...

I'm going to Luton University tomorrow for Train2Game GameJam with Microsoft to create a video game in two days to be put on Windows 8 Market Place...I hope we have good coders and I so wish It was with Epic games or Crytek like the Make something unreal they held last year. Seriously the coder assigned to our team struggled to do anything with a pre made sidescroller and a lot of people strugle to even install Windows 8! Our game designer is good though but he came up with a simple bug squishing game knowing the coder was in experienced and the coder failed to even do anything with that after I had made a title screen some levels and one insect to use.
speaking of which if anyone is going to global game jam in georgia this year i'll be there on a team. dunno when or where it'll be going on this time since georgia doesn't seem to have anything decided yet but last year it was at SCAD Atlanta.

Finished the HK G3. Next up: Bipod, Scope and maybe a strap, as well as welding seams for detail. That should turn it into a HK G3-SG1 :P [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/sh/j9r5v01jyuio85g/L03vUvLb2W/g3_13_09_2012.jpg[/thumb] Closeups in my Dropbox
Looks really good, wires?
I made a head, and honestly, it's the first I'm actually proud of. How is it?
His jawline wraps around the back of his head [editline]13th September 2012[/editline] I must say the individual features look nice, but the proportions are messed up, especially the ear. Better than I could do though.

Great work! And the close-ups are sexy as hell! Planning on texturing it?
tried again, this time i tried to make it in the style of cocknugget's cars, sorted the uv but i'm bad at texturing in photoshop
